Can Alzheimer be treated as my father is suffering from it.

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist,
No. But manageable. It can be treated with drugs so that there is symptomatic relief and quality of life can be improved. This disease is a degenerative one, which once starts gradually progresses over a period of time. Taking treatment in adequate dosage will delay severe disability. Associated symptoms like depression and intellectual deterioration can be largely treated.

Problem with my leg is it is just not able to take a load on it. So while wailking, my walk goes left right. I am not able to walk striaght. Neurologist asked me to do mri. Result showed this is due to multiple sclerosis (m. S.) doctor said there is no cure for it. Just we can avoid it to spread it further. Apart from this I am facing weakness at times. Once after I have my meals I feel better. Also not able to stand for a longer period. I had also gone for a blood check which showed vitamin d3 is less than 8 where it has to me more than 30. You have a serious problem. This illness ms is generally relapsing and remitting. Symptoms comes and go away. Unpredictable. Cause is not exactly known. But autoimmunity is at fault. Allergy of nerve covering of nerves of brain. I strongly advise you to only take treatment from a neurologist, better he be the same doctor. Don't change doctors. If he know your case from beginning he will be better efficiently manage, and will be able to help you better. Trust him, your illness is such that you have to be very patient and cool.

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Indore
You are well motivated to quit tobacco, that is nice beginning. There are drugs that can help. Requires visit. But you can substitute your tobacco need with nicotex chewing gum or niclonz lozenges used by" bite and park" method. This will take care of irritability and craving. Stop and start using substitutes. Help yourself and enjoy good health for life.

What is T21 and down syndrome risk? If there is a Low risk, what does it mean.

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist,
It means that if the couple wants to have a child , looking at the age health and family history of parents chances of child having downssyndrome mongolism or trisomy 21 a genetic disorder is very less. You can go for addition in your family. Chances increases with age of parents especially mother. As age more or very young chances are more . As age increases chances increases.

My Husband was operated for tumor in his brain (right) in dec 2013. After 2 months he regained some of his left leg movement and now walking slowly with cane. However, he could move slightly his left shoulder, close his fist. There are no movement in fingers or cannot open his fist. His Physiotherapy is still on going. Please , i would want to understand the situation.

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Indore
Right side brain controls left side of body. Brain tumour on right was removed. So some part of the brain was removed. The work or function of that particular removed brain was lost. This was accepted because tumour would have killed him if not removed. So loss of function of part of body like hand arm and shoulder was sacrificed for him to be alive. Nature recovers some function but whatever can not be recovrered person have to live without and thank god for life.

My father is 89 yrs old and wt 95 kgs. on 30 dec he underwent for hip replacement surgery . he is a patient of alzeimeric dementia and some times becomes very aggressive. during his hospitalisation his left buttock's apx 2*3i nch epidermal portion was eroded after fungal infection which is still not healed what should i do for its healing and his normal walk and gait

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Indore
Consult a dermetologist because he is quiet old his immunity may be poor. His dementia will lead to lack of proper care for fungal infection and cleenliness so he will mneed local and systemic means oral anti fungal drugs.may be for a little longer duration. Take care of fungal lesion well otherwise it may spread to nails and other body parts because of itching. dont wait to consult.

I had a mild seizure when I was very young may be 5years old, doctor told my parents not to worry, so no medicine was taken. Later in my early teens also I had mild seizures a couple of times, we consulted some doctors and took medicine. Later when I was 16 years old, once when I had fever I attended college and in the class room I had a seizure. Then we consulted a senior specialist and since then I had no seizure in last six years. My doctor gave a combination of two different tablets initially for a couple of years and later started prescribing leviteracetam. I have been using leviteracetam for the last 5-6years now, 1500 mg dose once in the morning, every day. My family maintained strict secrecy about my problem in view of the stigma associated. However, they fear this may come in the way of my marriage prospects and worry all the time. I wish to know if it is possible to stop medication or reduce the frequency from one dose everyday to once in a week or so. Kindly help please.

If a person have fits during high temperature it is called febrile convulsions.when occurs three time needs to be treated for at least 3 years in case you were treated for 6 years without having epilepsy so gradually you can be tappered off drugs watching for fever which should be treated imediately and not allowed to go beyond a limit. you can switch over to other drug like ESLIFY 600 mg which latter on can be given only once at night. A trial should be given to decrese this drug. if you can stay without epilepsy for about 1 year without drugs then drugs can be stopped.

You are victim of immaturity and lack of experience in heterosexual relations. this so called love failure may be your first experience, generally leads to failure if you learn from your experience your mistakes then you succeed in geting romentic love in future. if you breakdown in nervousness then you learn nothing.think why you failed and decide about not making such mistakes again.read psychology books learn about relationship.learn about feminine psychology. there are medicine like olenzapine which may help you forget her.but there is no harm if you remember as a person you like a good friend who is not with you.take energy from her pleasant memory.set a goal in life and disolve your psychic energy in it's achievement.
