From the last 6 years, I am suffering from ocd currently my treatment is going under an experienced doctor in Agra. My problem is that from the last 1 year the progress in my case had stopped. Though there is a big difference between my condition 6 or 5 years ago and now. So, can it be beneficial for me if I change my doctor sir and consult a new doctor sir in Delhi.

Dear lybrate-user, Though you have not mentioned what you are suffering from OCD, I understand your agony. Switching Doctor is, though not a solution to your issue, you may check with the same Doctor and discuss with him in detail before you take any steps you mentioned. OCD has got different behavioral manifestations like cleaning rituals, superstitious beliefs recurring etc. Whasoever may it be, alongwith the medication, please check for a qualified psychologist in town who can help you to overcome the vicious cycle of thoughts. Best of luck. Its a curable condition.

I went though alcohol rehab 10 years ago. On the last day of rehab I was given alcohol .as soon as I consumed the alcohol the air rushed out of me and I was given oxygen immediately. This was given as a deterrent and I was told if I were to drink alcohol this is what would happen to me. What happened? Can you please explain?

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, As a part of treatment, psychiatrists often suggest certain medication which will counter the alcohol intake and the person can have nauseating feelings or some bodily uneasiness. Alcohol consumption, as such is bad for your health, please do not resort to alcohol again. The medicine you take will do no harm until unless you take alcohol. Be happy and safe! Best of luck.

Hello doctor I am 24 years old women I want to ask about negative thoughts come in my mind how to overcome that I fell like I am alone no body with me I feel loneliness and my mind becomes negative day by day pls tell me the treatment for it what should I do?

Dear psychologist, partly you are correct. Still I would like to put forward my thoughts. Writing a gratitude journal or stopping the negative thoughts at a stretch is an utopian idea. Let her talk it out. The things seen outside or the verbatim of the client is just an iceberg. There are much more internal issues involved in this, may be. Let her consult a mental health professional who could be relied upon to have a hearty conversation. Her family and herself are clients to it. The more you delve deeper, the more you get to know about it. Best of luck.

Dear Dr, outright you told him to do yoga and meditation. It is unbecoming. Break up at this tender age is of course a bolt from the blue. Adolescence is mysterious, you know it well. He needs someone to talk it out. It will take him some time to get over or come to terms with the fact. The classic symptoms of lack of sleep and other bio drives distractions are not uncommon. Once he understands he has miles to go before he sleep, as told by Robert Frost, an English poet, he will be in this trauma, the so-called. When the soft feelings and the blues get over, he will be into mainstream. Yoga or meditation can't stop your cries. The cry or the explosive within has to take time to overcome. No substitute to it. Hope, you won't mind my reply.

My friends say I have different character at different times. I also forget things which I have done just a minute ago. Sometimes I feel very depressed due to my character. Please help me out.

Without exactly knowing the way you were nurtured, we cannot arrive in a conclusion. Based on some tests and evaluations only, I prefer giving you counselling. The rest all are of a layman's understanding. The engrossed or preoccupied mind tends to miss out some data and its working style. I truly believe you have a pile of emotions or some unresolved emotional issue which hinders your fully functional life. For best results, please consult a mental health professional who is qualified to deal with your issues. There are some chances of your personality issues which are to be addressed also. Hence, do not jump into conclusions without analysing what is your make-up. Thanks.
