Hi, I am 30 years old male, single. I am having rashes similar to pimples over my head scalp, in between hairs and on face. I am facing hair fall also. Is there any specific reason and what is the remedy for this. Thanks ARUN.

Hi, I am 30 years old male, single. I am having rashes similar to pimples over my head scalp, in between hairs and on...
I read your problem. Acne is a general term for pimples and deeper pustules that are clogged pores. If severe enough acne can leave permanent scars. Acne is an inflammatory skin disorder of the skin’s sebaceous glands and hair follicles that affects about 80% of people between the ages of 12 and 24. During puberty high levels of hormones are produced in both girls and boys. This leads to the production of large quantities of sebum. Sebum is an irritant that can clog the pores and form a pimple which may become infected and form a pustule. Hormones don’t go away after adolescence. Many women still get premenstrual acne from of the release of progesterone after ovulation. Acne is a disease that affects the skin’s oil glands. The small holes in your skin (pores) connect to the oil glands under the skin. These glands make an oily substance called sebum. The pores connect to the glands by a canal called a follicle. Inside the follicles, oil carries dead skin cells to the surface of the skin. A thin hair also grows through the follicle and out to the skin. When the follicle of a skin gland clogs up, a pimple grows. Most pimples are found on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders. Acne is not a serious health threat but it can cause scars. Causes of Acne The exact cause of acne is unknown, several related factors are: Hormonal activity supposed to be responsible, such as menstrual cycles and puberty. Increase in hormones called androgens (male sex hormones), which causes sebaceous glands to enlarge and make more sebum. Hormonal changes related to pregnancy can also cause acne. Another factor is heredity or genetics. Researchers believe that the tendency to develop acne can be inherited from parents. For example, studies have shown that many school-age boys with acne have a family history of the disorder. Accumulation of dead skin cell. Bacteria in the pores, to which body becomes allergic. Skin irritation or scratching of any sort will active the inflammation. Starting or stopping birth control pills. Heredity (if your parents had acne, you might get it too). Some types of medicine.Greasy makeup. In some patients, contributing factors may be: Pressure: In some patients, pressure from helmets, chinstraps, collars, and the like can aggravate acne. Drugs: Some medications may cause or worsen acne, such as those containing iodides, bromides, or oral or injected steroids first you have to take healthy diet and avoid spicy food and oily food. Drink plenty of water. Wash your face regular.in homoeopathic berberis aqafolium and kali brom are very useful medicine, I have unique treatment for acne. If you want further better treatment and medicine ,you can take online consultation.

Care for the Hair- • Avoid using hot water to wash the hair, and use warm water instead.  • Do not comb the hair when it is wet.  • When there is dandruff, this needs to be primarily treated, as severe dandruff is itself a cause for hair loss.  • Oil weekly twice • Use a mild shampoo of homoeopathy. • Eat 2-3 almonds every morning, this is very rich in vitamin E and is very nutritious for the hair.  • Avoid repeated chemical or heat treatments to the hair.  Homeopathic treatment  Hair fall associated with chronic illness, or hormonal imbalance corrects itself with the treatment of the underlying condition. In such cases, the underlying condition has to diagnosed and treated. When it is due to acute illness or fever, generally it subsides on its own, and the hair growth normalizes.  In many cases of hair loss, adequate supplementation of iron and vitamins needs to be done to improve the hair growth. Homeopathic treatment is very good for treating hair loss due to the various causes. The causes of the hair fall, as in the underlying chronic conditions are simultaneously treated.  you can consult me online for homoeopathic treatment without side effects.

Vitamins - How They Can Put An End To Your Hair Fall?

Hair fall is a very common phenomenon that plagues millions of people around the globe. Most of us take vitamin supplements on a regular basis as it improves the health of our hair and skin. But if a balanced nutrition of vitamins, proteins, minerals and fats is required to enhance the result which can only be ensured by Cyclical Nutritional Program (Hair Fast) along with regular vitamin intake. Read on to find out how exactly do the various vitamins help your hair:

  1. Vitamin A: This vitamin controls the production of retinoic acid in your hair follicle. It is not only helpful for skin care but stimulates hair growth also. It is immensely fruitful in moisturizing your hair and keeping it healthy. Vitamin A is usually found in sweet potatoes, carrots, tuna, lettuce, mango, sweet red peppers, green leafy vegetables and spinach.
  2. Vitamin B: Variants of this, such as B12, aids in hair growth by managing stress. Vitamin B is found in fruits such as oranges, papayas, and beans.
  3. Vitamin C: This vitamin helps you absorb iron from the food you eat which is an absolute essential for hair growth. It also boosts the synthesis of collagen that is required to repair the damage and sustain the structure of your hair. Fruits such as papayas, guavas, lemons, sweet lime, orange, kiwi and vegetables such as broccoli, yellow bell peppers and leafy vegetables are replete with Vitamin C.
  4. Vitamin D: This vitamin rejuvenates the hair cells in order to form new hair shafts. Vitamin D is found in dairy products, mushrooms, soy milk, tofu and cheese. Vitamin D is also naturally made by your body when you expose your skin to the sun and is called the sunshine vitamin.
  5. Vitamin E: This aids in stimulating capillaries and enhancing blood circulation on the scalp. This additionally contributes to hair growth due to its high anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidant content. Certain foods loaded with Vitamin E are pumpkin, broccoli, aloe vera, olive oil, sunflower seeds, almonds, avocado, tofu and spinach.
  6. Vitamin B5: It is also known as Panthenol, is a vital ingredient that is used in medicines to regulate hair hall. Foods enriched with Vitamin B5 are sweet potatoes, sunflower seeds, avocados, cheese and mushrooms.

Hi lybrate-user, I will suggest both traditional and natural treatments to help remove dandruff and bring your hair back to a normal condition. 1. Use both a zinc pyrithione shampoo and anti-dandruff shampoo containing selenium sulfide, alternating each one daily. Let the shampoo sit in your hair for five minutes. Rinse out and condition as normal. 2. Apply vitamin E oil directly to your scalp, massaging into the roots of your hair. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Jacknin claims that vitamin E oil helps to soften your scalp. 3. Take supplements of biotin, vitamin A and vitamin B12 daily. Follow the directions on each label to take the recommended dosage. Each supplement may help to relieve dandruff. 4. Make a strong tea of burdock root by purchasing some in bulk at your health food store. Pour a one-half cup of burdock into a cooking pot. Pour 4 cups of water, and slowly bring to a boil. Let the herbs simmer for 20 minutes. Strain the herbs with a mesh strainer and let it cool. Use this tea as a hair rinse to help remove dandruff. Burdock root produces an oil that contains essential fatty acids that may to control dandruff. 5. Add 2 tsp. Of tea tree oil to 1 quart of water. Mix both and apply to the roots of your hair. Balch says this mixture helps to reduce fungal infection in your scalp. Do not pick or scratch your scalp, as this may make it worse. You may want to check with your doctor before taking herbs or other nutritional supplements, as they may interact with certain medications. Things You'll Need / Zinc pyrithione shampoo / Anti-dandruff shampoo containing selenium sulfide / Vitamin E oil / Biotin supplement / Vitamin A supplement / Vitamin B12 supplement / Burdock root herb / Cooking pot /Strainer /Tea tree oil Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Masturbation has nothing to do with hairloss. You may be suffering from androgenic alopecia which is also called as pattern baldness. The hairs start reducing in density at the crown (top) and also the hairline starts receeding from the front. This is usually progressive throughout life unless treated. It is usually accompanied by severe dandruff which we call seborrhoea. The FDA approved treatment for this condition is the best. No oil or cream will magically work because the hairs are getting miniaturised and eventually disappearing due to the hormonal effects of DHT on the hair roots. Please call me or contact me with photos using online consult option for proper examination and treatment. Do not start treatment without consulting. I can give guidance and then you can continue treatment on your own.

Hi. I had dengue a month back. Since den I am hvg terrible hair fall. Almost lost half hair. Whats the solution.
Hi lybrate-user, Besides the medically maneuvered ways to cater to hair loss, certain home made ways involving the adoption of bare minimum fundamental regime are mentioned here. Hope you find them useful 1. First and foremost balanced diet with proper emphasis on vitamin calcium and iron may go a long way in preventing hair fall, because deficiency of protein and iron intake also contributes to hair loss. Thus a balanced diet comprising of all the essential nutrients should be insisted on. 2. Hair should be washed and brushed properly. Similar importance should be given to trimming to prevent tearing of hair. Combs with wide tooth should be made use of. Split ends should be got rid of as part of trimming. Blow drying should be avoided because the heat generated is found to be damaging from the point of view of hair. 3. Gentle massaging of scalp regularly, preferably with drops of warm oil contributes against hair fall. 4. Washing of head with a homemade concoction consisting of vodka/ alcohol, pepper and worm water will work well to combat hair loss. 5. Adding a few drops of tobacco sauce to the regularly used lather producing shampoo can also be an effective remedy for preventing hair loss. 6. Some of the herbal extracts used directly in forms of juice or paste can prove to be more beneficial than their medically encapsulated forms. Paste or juice of “Bhongra” may be massaged gently on to the scalp to counteract hair falling. Paste consisting of Shana seeds with coconut or castor oil turn out as an effective option. 7. In cases of baldness in patches or ‘alopecia areata’; a paste of lime seeds and black pepper may be massaged on affected areas. Scrubbing the affected areas with onion cut into half followed by application of honey may also help out. Good Luck.

Sugar - Why It Is Bad For Your Skin?

Diploma in Medical Cosmetology, MBBS

Sugar - Why It Is Bad For Your Skin?

Almost every person salivates over desserts and sweets. One does not need a special occasion to get their sweet tooth going. While the lip smacking sugary delight might impress the taste buds, it is sure to affect the health in a big way. If you thought that sugar was only bad for your waistline and general health, then you need to know that it is equally harmful for your skin. In fact, it can lead to serious dermatological conditions.

Harmful effects of sugar on the skin

A lot of what we eat reflects on our body externally. A number of internal changes can influence the external appearance of the body. Excessive intake of carbohydrates, starch and sugar can have an adverse effect on the skin. It can also accelerate the ageing process. But what triggers these complications needs to be understood and discussed in detail.

Carbohydrates can be simple or complex. Simple carbohydrates (cake, bread; to name a few) break down and convert to glucose rapidly. Increased glucose level implies increased insulin level, and causes inflammation, which affects the whole body. The enzymes produced during inflammation breaks down important proteins, namely elastin and collagen, leading to wrinkles and saggy skin.

Acne problems mainly arise from Glycation (the process through which digested sugar attaches permanently to the collagen). Glycation plays a significant role in accelerating the ageing process.

Complex carbohydrates, on the other hand, is good for health. When ingested, complex carbohydrates break down at a much slower rate. As a result, there is no abnormal increase in the insulin level.

Corrective measures to check the harmful effects of sugar on the skin:

With a little care and preventive measures, the deleterious effects of sugar on the skin can be minimised.

  1. Supplement your diet with foods rich in antioxidants. Lean proteins, fibrous foods and diets rich in good fats are highly recommended. Include beans and nuts that have low glycemic value in your diet. Drink plenty of water.
  2. Food items containing high amount of saturated fats (cheese, ice creams, fried foods; to name a few), and with high glycemic value should be strictly avoided.
  3. Do not compromise with your sleep. A sound sleep and a stress-free life is the mantra to a glowing and youthful skin.
  4. Practice meditation and yoga diligently. The rewarding and positive outcomes will leave you in awe.
  5. Do not skip your meals or indulge in overeating. Have small servings at regular intervals.

Ringworm - Decoding Common Myths!

MBBS, MD - Dermatology , Venereology & Leprosy
Dermatologist, Ghaziabad
Ringworm - Decoding Common Myths!

Ringworm is something which is quite unpleasant to have, to say the very least. However, there are just so many myths about it and if a person is to avoid it, debunking of these myths is something which is quite critical!

It comes in all forms!

Ringworm can affect a person even when he or she thinks it is something else. As a matter of fact, a barber’s itch is not a form of lice, as many people believe it to be. In actuality, it is a beard ringworm! The effect of this sort of ringworm can be quite irritating as what happens is that there is swelling of the face and sometimes even the person’s neck. There are various parts of the body which can be affected by ringworm, apart from the face. These include the scalp, the feet and sometimes, even the groin area.

Anyone can get it!

Many people are of the opinion that it is only children who are at risk to get ringworm. While it is true that children seem to have the propensity to be diagnosed with it, it is something which can affect people across all age groups. As a result, it is very important for a person to be aware of ringworm and what it looks like regardless of his or her age.

It is not caused by worms!

No matter how misleading its name may be, there is actually no worm as such which leads to the problem known as ringworm. In fact, it is caused by dermatophytes, which are a sort of fungi. The reason why it is called ringworm is due to the effect it has on the skin; it red spots on the skin in the pattern of rings, usually. However, if a person happens to get ringworm of the scalp, then he or she may not develop the rings which are associated with ringworm. In its stead, he or she may see that the scalp is getting progressively flaky. A flaky scalp is often seen due to the effects of dandruff. In fact, both conditions are often confused.

Antibiotics don’t work!

When a person in a house has ringworm, it is generally thought that the problem is one which would go away as a result of following a course of treatment which involves some antibiotics. However, when it comes to ringworm, this is not the case. On account of the fact that it is a fungal infection, it is treated with anti-fungal medicines. Antibiotics kill bacteria. The fact that ringworm can be caught or given to a pet makes it something worth worrying about!

Tips To Maintain Your Skin Health During Monsoon!

Tips To Maintain Your Skin Health During Monsoon!

The onset of monsoon season brings in a sense of joy and peace to our mind – the cool raindrops, soothing winds, coy weather and our taste buds yearn for some hot tea with savoury snacks. Phew! It is finally a relief from the scorching summer heat. The change in weather also means it's time to change your skincare routine. This monsoon, pamper your skin with these tips and keep your skin feeling loved and fresh.

  1. Cleanse and remove the dirt: Monsoon brings in a lot of dust, which can settle on your skin and damage it, giving it a dull texture. So, it is important to cleanse your skin at least 3 times a day to remove the accumulated grime and oil that can clog your pores.
  2. Don’t forget to tone: Use an alcohol-free toner to prevent dryness. An anti-bacterial toner is recommended to prevent breakout or infections in your skin during the monsoon.
  3. Moisturise for a radiant glow: Monsoon tends to have an extra dehydrating effect on dry skin or an over-moisturising effect on oily skin. Use a light lotion-based moisturizer for gentle hydration on your skin and leave your skin feeling soft and supple with a healthy look. For oily skin, use water-based moisturizer to keep the oil secretion in check.
  4. Continue using sunscreen: The rains do not mean it’s time to stop using your sunscreen. The sun is still there and its UV rays can wreak havoc on your skin. Use a sunscreen even on a cloudy day.
  5. Avoid heavy makeup: Use water-proof makeup to prevent messy makeup in case of a sudden downpour. Also during monsoon, your skin is prone to catch dirt and infections. So, keep your makeup minimal and natural.
  6. Stay hydrated and watch your diet: Drink at least eight glasses of water in a day so that humidity does not make your skin look pale and dull. Also, watch what you are eating; it's good to keep away from oily snacks and eat wholesome meals.
  7. Use natural face packs: Facials and bleaching will make the skin rougher during the rainy season and so, it should be limited. Instead go for home-made natural face packs, based on your skin type and nourish your skin naturally.
  8. Take essential lip care: Prevent the lips from drying out and cracking. Avoid dark coloured lipsticks and use a good lip balm or apply milk cream regularly to prevent excessive drying.
  9. Use warm water: Don’t go overboard by using steaming hot water to cleanse your skin. It will make your skin weak and cause damage.
