I had sex with a girl, while the period blood came unfortunately. But I used condoms. It will cause any disease. Please advise.

Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello. Condom acts as a barrier and thus protects either partner from getting any infection or sexually transmitted diseases. There are very less percentage of condom failure when the chances of getting infection becomes very high!

Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia Disorder and Psychosis

Multi Speciality Clinic
Multi Speciality, Pune
Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia Disorder and Psychosis

Bipolar disorder: Also known as manic-depressive disorder, bipolar disorder is the sudden change in mood, which might take a swing from depression to mania. It is a very severe disorder and can bring about unstable and precarious behavior. The risk of having suicidal tendencies is also quite high. Bipolar disorder is usually treated with medicines alongside therapy.

  1. Bipolar mania
  2. Hypomania
  3. Depression
  4. Mood swings

The mood swings do not follow any particular pattern.

Schizophrenia Disorder: Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder which affects the general behavior and lifestyle of a person. Schizophrenics might face a difficulty in distinguishing between the real and the imaginary.

Contrary to public belief, schizophrenia is neither split personality nor multiple personalities. It is not an after effect of any previous traumatic experience. It might be genetic or a result of chemical imbalance in the brain chemicals.

  1. Paranoia
  2. Senseless talking
  3. Feeling apathetic
  4. Insomnia
  5. Personality change
  6. Hallucinations
  7. Delusions
  8. Withdrawal from society
  9. Attention deficit disorder or add

No specific medicine is available for schizophrenia. Usually, rehabilitation is advised to regain confidence and recover skills required for a productive life.

Psychosis: Similar to schizophrenia, psychosis is another mental disorder which is characterized by hallucinations and delusions. Psychosis is extremely dangerous and harmful as it might spur you to cause self-inflicted wounds and pain. It is of utmost importance to consult a doctor immediately after experiencing psychotic symptoms.

  1. Hallucinations
  2. Delusions
  3. Depression
  4. Anxiety
  5. Suspicion
  6. Insomnia or hypersomnia
  7. Withdrawal from society
  8. Attention deficit disorder or add
  9. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD

The only available diagnosis for psychosis is a psychiatric evaluation. Certain medical tests and x-rays may also be executed along with it to detect the underlying cause. Psychosis may be caused due to Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, brain tumors, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, etc.

Although there aren't any medical complications in psychosis, it should not be left untreated due to its harmful effects. Medication and therapy are the known cures of psychosis.

My wife is having adinomiosis and block and having uncontrol pain in period time but she have to conceive so how can it cure?

If the both tubes are blocked then best treatment is test tube baby. However it costly and success rate is 30-35%. Also sometimes tubes can be opened by a small procedure called- hydrotubation.

HIV Infections - Stages And Symptoms

General Physician, Delhi
HIV Infections - Stages And Symptoms

HIV or the human immunodeficiency virus is the lentivirus which causes HIV infection and leads to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or AIDS.

The symptoms of HIV vary from person to person. There are three main stages of HIV infections, where each stage has different symptoms.

Here are some facts about the three stages of HIV infections along with the accompanying symptoms.

Acute HIV Infection Stage: This is the first stage of HIV infection and after three to four weeks of becoming HIV infected, people experience symptoms, which are similar to flu. This flu usually does not last more than two weeks.

Symptoms include:

  1. Fever
  2. Rashes on the body
  3. A sore throat
  4. Swelling of different glands
  5. Headache
  6. Joint and muscle pain
  7. Improper digestion

These symptoms appear and indicate that the body is reacting to the HIV. Infected cells circulate throughout the blood, and the immune system produces HIV antibodies in order to attack the viruses. This process is termed as seroconversion, and it takes place within 45 days of getting infected. The levels of virus in your blood are quite high during this stage.

Clinical latency stage: This is the second stage of HIV infection, which follows the early stage. This stage is also known as chronic HIV stage. During this stage, HIV is active, but is reproduced at a very low level. People in this stage may not receive symptoms related to HIV or may get mild indications.

In case of people who do not take medicines for HIV treatment, this stage lasts for a long period. Some people, however, progress faster through this stage. Medicines should be taken to keep the virus in check. During this stage, people can transmit HIV to others very easily in spite of not experiencing any symptoms. People who are on medication stay suppressed virally and have a low level of HIV in their blood, and the risk of transmission is less.

Symptomic HIV infection or AIDS stage: This is the third stage of HIV infection, which is characterized by severe damage to the immune system of an HIV-virus affected person. A patient is likely to have serious infections and gets bacterial or fungal diseases. The infections are termed as opportunistic infections. The patient is now said to be having AIDS.

The symptoms of this stage are:

  1. Loss of weight
  2. Diarrhoea
  3. Sweating at night
  4. Fevers and persistent coughing
  5. Problems in the mouth and skin
  6. Infections on a regular basis
  7. Illness and development of other diseases.

HIV infection affects the body via three stages and leads to AIDS in the third stage. Each stage is accompanied by several symptoms. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a general physician.

What is best day to have a relationship for pregnancy? My wife has regular period ,sometimes 1 -2 days gets late or early. Or any tips if you can provide? We have tried 3-5 times in 2 years of 5-6 months interval but didn't get result?

PhD Human Genetics
Hi, since your wife is menstruating regularly every month + or - 2-3 days, the best fertile period is between her 12th day (counted from the 1st day of bleeding) and 18th day. Try to have intercourse during these days - not every day but on alternate days. If you try this way for 3-6 months, it may work out, provided both of you are free from any conditions that reduce your chances of fertility. It's a good idea to seek help from a fertility specialist, since you are trying to conceive for some time - that too in a not-so-conducive manner. Early intervention can enhance your chances of conception.

Dear Lybrate user, If your wife doesn't have any medical problem, she is not required to take Ecosprin 75 tablets. Supplementation of Folic acid is advisable as it prevents certain congenital malformations in the baby.

My wife is 46 years old and repeatedly washing hands for long time. Nobody can touch her and she is not touching to any one also. She thinks that blood intact with me. If by incidentally she touch someone, immediately change the clothes after bathing. If she go out and on return the clothes to be changed after bathing and only then sit on her fixed seat only. What should I do?

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
She is suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder but I will not suggest any medicines for it. With reports of water & air pollution & other contagious diseases flashing everywhere, one does get scary about hygiene. She needs counselling from someone who can understand her & whom she trusts. Show her doctors and nurses working non stop among all kinds of patients & doing great jobs of saving lives of others. Tell her about not being selfish and finicky about just her own life. May be simple advice helps her.

Since you r married since 6 years with no baby yet, I suggest you to get your self investigated and send me your reports on private profile and depending upon reports will be able to suggest you as to you require ivf even or not. Or probably iui can help. And since my patients have 80 %chances of conceiving in first go. So it might benefit you too. But will it be a boy or girl. This is in no ones hand. And we can't select this choice of gender. So don't worry. And be positive.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS

Hi lybrate-user. If you are not responding to progesterone then most likely it's an estrogen deficiency. You should most likely respond to estrogen therapy. But before that please get n ultrasound scan of pelvis done to see for endometrial thickness. Depending on the result I will help you out. All the best.

If a women’s menstrual cycle varies from 26days to 31days cycle, The shortest cycle (26days) minus18days=8th day. The longest cycle (31days) minus 10days=21st day Thus, 8th to 21st day of each cycle counting from first day of menstrual period is considered as fertile period.
