If mammography is negative just keep a watch on lump if any. Some water retention is seen as tenderness in some women. Get bp checked and blood for sugar and lipids. Reduce salt and drink lots of water. Take potassium rich food like oranges and lemon juice and amla etc. Drink lots of water to flush out toxic elements from blood by producing more urine.

MBBS, MD - Medicine, MD - Oncology

Dear lybrate user, fibroadenoma is a benign lump in the breast which is sometimes painful during menstruation. If small and mild pain no need for any active treatment, if it is causing pain some form of hormonal management is done, if it is very big and really tender it is better to get it excised.

Now a days childers are getting used to fast food that affects overall growth and equally affects oral tissues and teeth. Junk food are sticky that gets embeded on tooth surface donot get cleaned easily. These food gets fermented by bacteria present in saliva and produce high amount of lactic acid that dissovles enamel and dentine and causes cavity in tooth. Food with high level of complex carbohydrate and sugars are responsible for cavitation. Balance and high nutritional diet is a very important part of childern life as it directly affects overall growth and health of kids. Restrict intake of junk food to once or twice a week. Causes, Symptoms and Treatment for Vaginal Rashes

Causes, Symptoms and Treatment for Vaginal Rashes

Rashes in the vulva, which might be caused due to various health problems or due to irritation on skin, usually constitute all the vaginal rashes. The vaginal rashes might be the result of non infectious conditions (it might be an allergic reaction) or it might also be the result of a sexually transmitted infection. The vulva may become red and might have sores and blisters. Many times, the vulva doesn't change color at all, but visible bumps are present in the area.

Symptoms:
The symptoms of vaginal rashes are as follows:

  1. Blisters or sores
  2. Reddening of the vulva
  3. Visible bumps
  4. Vaginal discharge
  5. Pain in the pelvic region
  6. Painful urination with a burning feeling
  7. Itchiness
  8. Pain while having sex
  9. Lice or insects in the pubic hair
  10. Fever
  11. Enlarged lymph nodes
  12. Ulcers on the groin

Although the symptoms are not usually fatal, sometimes the conditions might become life threatening. If your body temperature rises above 101oF and if you are suffering from a severe abdominal and pelvic pain, the best option is to consult a doctor immediately.

Causes:
Vaginal rashes can be due both noninfectious causes as well as due to sexually transmitted infections. Some of the infectious causes are:

  1. Genital herpes
  2. Granuloma inguinale
  3. Human papilloma virus
  4. Molluscum contagiosum
  5. Scabies
  6. Pubic lice
  7. Yeast infections
  8. Syphilis

Some of the noninfectious causes are:

  1. Allergic reactions
  2. Eczema
  3. Chemical irritants like soap, lubricants, creams, etc
  4. Lichen Simplex Chronicus
  5. Psoriasis

Complications:
Although the vaginal rashes aren't very serious in nature, you might face certain complications like infertility, secondary or tertiary syphilis, and transmitting the infection to your partner.

Treatment:
Vaginal rashes are usually treated with home remedies. Here are a few treatments you could try out if you are afflicted with vaginal rashes:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar: This particular substance is known for having antifungal and antibacterial properties. It will help you get over the itching which takes place when you are suffering with a vaginal rash. If the rash is due to a fungal or bacterial infection, then apple cider vinegar will help to clear out the infection. Wash your vagina with apple cider vinegar and warm water mixture.
  • Anti-bacterial Talc: Anti-bacterial talc is extremely mild to the skin. It helps to cure fungal infections but this method might take some time to cure the rash.

Consult your doctor if the rash becomes serious and requires immediate attention.

Blood Purification - Foods That Are Best For It!

Toxins often get accumulated in the blood every single day from the daily dose of junk foods, stress, and pollution. The human lungs play a pivotal role in the purification of blood as the pure oxygenated blood is carried from the heart to each corner of the body. Therefore, it is very important to eat the foods which can help in detoxification of the blood. Here are some of the natural foods which you should try to consume on a regular basis.

  1. Avocado: If you are looking for food that would purify your blood and keep you healthy, then you should eat avocado daily. It helps in the removal of toxins that destroy the human artery. Plus, avocados are overloaded with loads of Vitamin E which shields the skin from the damage brought about by the harmful effects of oxidative stress and free radicals. Avocados are also a considerable source of Omega 3-fatty acids.
  2. Broccoli: Broccoli is one of the highest acclaimed foods when it comes to detoxification of blood and removal of harmful toxins from the blood. This green vegetable is also enriched with calcium, Omega 3-fatty acids, Vitamin C and K, phosphorus, magnesium and dietary fiber. If you consume broccoli on a regular basis, it would not only purify your blood but also reduces the risk of cancer, stroke, cardiac arrest, and allergy reaction.
  3. Cabbage: Cabbage is an amazing source of Vitamin B6, Vitamin D, dietary fiber, folate, manganese, magnesium, iron, and phosphorus. Thus, cabbage helps in purifying the blood and protecting the bones. If you are looking for a natural food which can reduce the heart diseases by keeping blood pressure under control, then you should have cabbage on a regular basis.
  4. Green tea: When it comes to purification of blood, nothing could be as effective as green tea. It can also protect the skin from sun damage by neutralizing the free radicals and lowering the skin inflammation by blocking the ultra-violet rays of the sun. The anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of green tea reduce the signs of aging.
  5. Apple: Apple is the best food for cleansing the blood and consuming it daily helps in the improvement of the quality of life. It is a considerable source of all the vitamins and mineral along with high levels of pectin which is a dietary fiber known for removal of heavy metals from the body. The presence of anti-oxidants helps in the purification of blood and destruction of free radicals.

You should include these natural foods in your daily diet to boost the purification of blood, fight diseases and lead a healthy life.

7 Tips for Healthy Pregnancy

MBBS, DGO, MD, Fellowship in Gynae Oncology
Gynaecologist, Delhi
7 Tips for Healthy Pregnancy

The most challenging part of pregnancy is to ensure safety and health, of both the baby and yourself. Here is how you can overcome this challenging phase of life.

  1. Call on your doctor regularly: Consult a doctor when you get to know of your pregnancy. Book an appointment for checkups and prenatal care. Get yourself treated for any sort of infection such as abnormal vaginal discharge or fever.

  2. Have a balanced diet: Incorporate elements from every food group in your daily meal, for instance, meat, milk, fruits, vegetables and grains; to meet the nutritional requirements during pregnancy. Also try to get adequate folic acids in the form of vitamin supplements and foods such as broccoli, spinach, orange juice and cereals.

  3. Be physically active: Engage in a few safe and simple exercises, such as walking or very light swimming. Do not work out in case you are unwell or exposed to hot and uncomfortable weather conditions.

  4. Get sufficient rest: Have a good night’s rest. Though sleeping for about 7-8 hours is considered optimal, there’s no harm in overdoing it a bit when you are pregnant. You can take naps in between as well. Ask your partner to share your household chores whenever possible.

  5. Be careful with medicines: Consult your doctor regarding the usage of non-prescribed medicines (as few of them may cause birth defects). You should also be extra cautious with your daily medicines if you happen to suffer from chronic illnesses such as thyroid or diabetes.

  6. Refrain from substance abuse: Quit smoking as it dangerously aggravates the chances of fetal death and risks of low weight of the baby at birth. Abstain from alcohol or try to cut down on alcohol intake as much as possible. Being in proximity to other chemicals such as glues, hair dyes, varnishes or paints is also not considered safe during pregnancy.

  7. Tread carefully: Your bulged out belly and unstable joints make you utterly misbalanced on your toes, increasing chances of you tripping over and falling. Be extremely cautious with your steps to avoid any sort of mishaps during a delicate phase as this. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

I am not interested in having children. What alternatives to hysterectomy are available?
At 28 years hysterectomy is not the option. If you r suffering from fibroids then fibroids can be removed. If you have excessive bleeding during menses and completed family, then endometrial ablation is one therapy in which inner lining of the uterus is removed.

No Salt Please!

Master Of Science ( Home Science) , B.Sc
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Delhi
No Salt Please!

It is estimated that 25% of people with normal blood pressure and about 60% of those with high blood pressure are salt sensitive, which means that as salt intake goes up so does blood pressure.

'salt to taste' as it reads in most recipes.... At times far exceeds the sodium requirements of our bodies, resulting in water retention, stress on our kidneys and bloating up. Not to mention the fact that if you are salt-sensitive then you may be at a much higher risk of strokes and heart attacks.

Apart from the salt that you add to your food, do you know the amount of stealth salt you are exposed to? the papads, the pickles and the farsan that you eat have excessive salt and so does any other packaged food that you may be consuming on a regular basis. A good idea is to read the labels of what you are buying.

Let us help you identify the stealth salt in your food...

  •     Use less, or no, salt in cooking or preparing dishes like salads, sauces and dips.
  •     Remove the table salt and any salt seasoning - such as lemon, pepper, garlic and onion salts.
  •     You should set aside the masala sachets that come with instant noodles, readymade soups, sauces etc.
  •     Don't use ready-made salad dressings.

The alternatives:
For additional flavour to your food, minus the excessive salt, keep a stock of fresh garlic, onion, ginger, parsley, coriander, and seasonings like, dry onion powder, dry mustard, nutmeg, black pepper and roasted cumin powder in your kitchen.

Remember: it's easier to cut down on sodium when you are on a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products.

Hi lybrate-user, Its normal to put on weight especially around belly and waist during pregnancy. Do not worry, it is possible to get rid of pregnancy weight and gain your confidence again. There are two pillars for weight loss. Diet and exercise. Workout, eat well, be patient. Your body will reward you. I would be happy to help you. Please consult me privately so that I can understand your problem in detail and device a diet plan for you.
