How does physiotherapy help Yuvraj or Dhoni?

Physiotherapic approaches for sports injuries

What role does physiotherapy play in treating injuries?

The recent t20 world cup 2016 match between India and Australia held in Mohali saw some action as well as injuries. Yuvraj Singh faced an ankle sprain while he was batting and was helped by immediate attention by a physiotherapist to resume the winning match.

What are the types of injuries related to cricket?

The most common injuries related to the gentleman's game are:

- hamstring strain

- low back pain

- side strain

- shoulder pain

- sprained ankle

How does physiotherapy help an individual?

A physiotherapist assesses your muscle strength and the range of movement in your joints and advises on techniques and exercises to bring back the mobility of your injured muscles or inflamed joints.

Physiotherapy is a physical therapy that takes care of the overall well-being of the body esp. The muscular part which is most affected when you play or exercise. Three of the main approaches a physiotherapist may use are:

  •   education and advice- tips and hacks for ensuring physical well-being of a person
  •   movement and exercise- aids and exercises to ensure good physical health
  •   manual therapy- a therapy of manual massage and body movements to relieve pain
  •   other techniques- these include acupuncture, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (tens) and ultrasounds.

There are numerous sports related injuries that can be effectively treated through physiotherapy. The therapy followed is entirely dependent on the kind of injury caused due to the sport.

The physiotherapist initially asks you some questions to know about your injury, medical history, family health records, prevalent allergies, and other such related information. Based on this initial examination, your physiotherapist will design a therapy plan for a test period to see if it is working or not.

I want to know which time is perfect time to be pregnant for a Girl? Please advice.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
A girl is most fertile at the time of ovulation, (when an egg is released from your ovaries) which usually occurs 12-14 days before your next period starts. This is the time of the month when she is most likely to get pregnant. It is unlikely she will get pregnant just after her period, although it can happen.

Hi Sana In a normal scenario an egg usually forms on the 14th day of the menstrual cycle and then it is released by the ovary through a process known as ovulation. Then it is picked up by the fallopian tube and in the fallopian tube it is fertilized by the sperm resulting into conception and then further events takes place resulting in pregnancy. For this both the egg and the sperm needs to be healthy enough so that the whole process can go on in a normal and healthy way. When the scan report says that the egg is not healthy then it means it might not survive for long and the process of fertilization will not happen. In simple words it means it will be difficult for you to concieve. Your being worried is quite natural in current situation. I assume you must have gone for extensive investigations of yourself and your partner. Considering reports of your partner normal, this seems to be very much the cause of your problem:- eggs are forming but they are not healthy. I advise you to go for HOLISTIC homoeopathic treatment for your problem and within a course of 6-8 months this problem will not be there anymore and you will be able to concieve. It will need a detailed case history and analysis of investigations. You can contact through lybrate for the same.

Unwanted 72 is high dose of hormone. May cause symptoms like nausea. But high frequency of urine may be due to urinary infection. Let her do a urine routine test.

What Are The Common STD Diseases?

MD
Sexologist, Srinagar
What Are The Common STD Diseases?

Do you know about the different types of sexually transmitted diseases and how they are caused? STDs are caused mostly by bacterial infections. The bacteria get transmitted while having sex, in the case of most common STDs. There are several STDs which commonly occur in people, primarily because of having unprotected sex.

Causes:

There are various forms of infections, including bacteria like gonorrhea and syphilis, viral STDs like HIV, ghnital herpes, hepatitis B, and genital warts. The germs which lead to the STDs dwell in the semen, vaginal secretions, and saliva. The transmission mostly occurs through vaginal, anal, and oral contact. Certain STDs are caused due to skin contact.

Types of STDs:

The most common STD diseases are as follows:

  1. Chlamydia- This bacterial infection occurs in your genital tract, and it is difficult to diagnose as no early symptoms are always experienced. The disease strikes three weeks after the exposure to the responsible bacteria. Lower abdominal pain and vaginal discharge are indicated as symptoms.

  2. Gonorrhea- This is a bacterial infection, which affects the genital tract. It can also develop in your eyes, mouth, throat, and anus. The symptoms start appearing within ten days of the exposure. Major symptoms include thick, bloody discharge from the penis or vagina. Painful sensation while urinating is also indicated.

  3. Trichomoniasis- This STD occurs from a microscopic, single-celled parasite called trichomonas vaginitis. It is commonly transmitted during sexual intercourse with an affected individual. In the case of men, the disease infects the urinary tract, without showing any symptoms in many cases. In women, the vagina is affected. The condition appears twenty-eight days within exposure. Mild irritation and severe inflammation are common symptoms. A clear white, greenish or yellowish vaginal discharge is likely in women, while discharge from the penis occurs in the case of men.

  4. HIV- HIV occurs because of the human immunodeficiency virus. HIV is a severe health disease which disrupts your body’s immune system, or your body’s ability to fight fungi and bacteria that lead to illness. HIV results in AIDS, which is a chronic, life-threatening condition. Commonly, early stage symptoms are not experienced in case of HIV. An illness which is similar to flu within two to six weeks of infection is likely to occur in some patients. You need to take a screening test for HIV for the diagnosis of this condition.

Another common STD which occurs is genital herpes. This is caused due to a certain form of the HSV or herpes simplex virus. The virus enters your body through tiny breaks in your skin membrane or mucous. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a sexologist.

My wife is 25 years old and she is pregnant she high blood sugar 275 is affecting our baby if yes then please suggest...
She needs complete blood sugar testing first, as per modern guidelines. Then depending on the result, the treatment should be started- drug and diet. At the same time, we need certain tests to ensure that the baby is normal. Strict and regular check up by doctor is essential along with regular basic check ups including blood glucose and ultrasound. Blood pressure and urine should also be checked regularly. And delivery should be done in an institute where modern neonatal care facilities are available.

Sir, my wife is pregnant so sir how can I care of her and the nourishment of young one and mother.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Sir, my wife is pregnant so sir how can I care of her and the nourishment of young one and mother.
Hello. If she doesn’t have any medical condition and if her diet is poor to begin with, it is even more important to make sure she has a healthy diet now. She needs more vitamins and minerals, especially folic acid and iron. She needs a few more calories during her pregnancy as well. Getting her diet right for pregnancy is more about what she eats than about how much. Limit junk food, as it has lots of calories with few or no nutrients. Let her eat a variety of foods from these different food groups each day: Milk and dairy products: skimmed milk, yogurt/curd, buttermilk (chhaach), cottage cheese (paneer). They contain calcium. Cereals, whole grains, dals, pulses and nuts: these are good sources of protein if she does not eat meat. Vegetarians need about 45 grams of nuts and 2/3 of a cup of legumes for protein each day. Vegetables and fruits: these provide vitamins, minerals and fibre. Avoid Papaya. Meat, fish and poultry: these provide concentrated proteins. Fluids: Drink lots of fluids, especially water and fresh fruit juices. Make sure she drinks clean boiled or filtered water. Carry your own water when out of the house, or buy bottled water from a reputed brand. Avoid packaged juices as they have a very high sugar content. Fats and oils: Ghee, butter, coconut milk and oil are high in saturated fats, which are not very healthy. Hydrogenated vanaspati oil and ghee is high in trans fats, which are as bad for you as saturated fats. A better source of fat is vegetable oils because these contain more unsaturated fat. Dairy products, along with sea fish and sea salt or iodised salt are all good sources of iodine. she needs plenty of iodine in her diet to help your baby's development.
