Hello, Dandruff causes hair loss so its necessary to treat dandruff first. Take Thuja 200, 5 drops in the morning, once in a week. Take Arnica Q and Cochleria arom. Q in equal amount, mix with equal amount of coconut oil, and apply this on your scalp, thrice a day. Wash your hair with B&T Anti- Dandruff Shampoo. Home remedies are as follows:- Coconut oil helps eliminate dandruff due to its antifungal properties. It also moisturizes dry scalp and provides relief from itching. Take some coconut oil and mix half the amount of lemon juice in it. Rub it on your scalp and massage for a few minutes. Wash your hair after at least 20 minutes. Follow this remedy two to three times a week. Revert me after 1 month.

I am experiencing some behavioural problems. I've started talking to myself a lot these days. Though this is my habit for the past few years but has considerably increased these days. I've started started to keep everything up to me only. My social life is almost zero . Now I don't like meeting people even my frnds. It's like I've become over shy and over introvert. I've even tried to hurt myself a few times. The main problem is that I act scenarios which are far away from reality when I am alone. I get completely involved in it till the time the scenario exists. My sleep is almost normal. I sleep like I am unconscious at that time. I feel very low self confidence. Do I have a mental disorder?

I have a lot of anger management issues. Any suggestions? Can my diet affect it too?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Diet may have some effect but not much. At your age, this development is quite significant because during this time there will be a spurt in the production of the male sex hormone, testosterone, which has a duration of two years. Due to this chemical alone, there are three identified features that present itself over which you will have poor control: you will be sexually active, aggressive and rebellious, and you will have acne and pimple problems. Then if you have unresolved childhood issues, they will compound the situation and fuel uncontrolled behavior. Please remember that you may not be aware of all this. Your anger is probably related to some deep rooted anger that you are carrying from your childhood. It is probably being provoked further by a spurt in the production of the male hormone testosterone, mentioned earlier. After that, it will subside and stabilize. Discuss with your parents whether they are aware of anything that might have provoked this anger from your childhood. Then either by yourself or along with your parents do meet with a counselor and discuss the same. The counselor will educate you about emotions and help you develop skills to express your anger in appropriate ways. You need anger management classes but you also need to know of its origins. Exercise is a very good way to expend the energy of anger so that it is under some control. But it still needs to be expressed. With regard to expression, it is better if you just spoke about it and gave it vent. No physical action of violence is acceptable and definitely, you should not treat your parents to any kind of aggression. Even if your anger is justified, violence is not the way. Finally, if you are a spiritual person, it is possible to hand over your anger to God to deal with it for you: it works really well.

Hi lybrate-user. It appears that you are having panic attacks. It is a common problem and mostly result from misinterpretation of normal bodily symptoms. One would need to understand your symptoms in more details. Like when it started, in what circumstances do you get these symptoms, any symptom in between the attack. Very effective treatment is available for these symptoms. Meet a nearby psychiatrist.

Please consult your doctor again and update him on your son's health. He might change the medicines or reduce the dose. You also have the option of changing your doctor. These medications usually come with many side effects. I suggest that you do your own research, read up and educate yourself and take an informed decision. The health of your son could be because of this medicine or something in his diet or the seasonal changes. Though allopathy medicines bring faster relief, they come with numerous side effects. On the other hand, ayurveda and homeopathy are gentler on the mind and body and fewer side effects and sometimes slow to show improvement. Nevertheless, you are doing a wonderful job as a parent and taking care of your son. Take care.

I am smoking lot now days. Please tell me something so that I can avoid smoking. I am phd student so faces lack of concentration due to smoking. Please tell me thank you.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Because you are an educated man I suggest that you find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary. In fact in the west, in the early 90s, smoking was declining by 1% annually while in the developing countries it was increasing by 2% all due to the effects of education. Awareness is incredible in promoting the anti-smoking campaign. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. You will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine chewing gum or nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces substantially. You may also join smokers anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i. E. At least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here? s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a cigarette, it is not the end of the world? you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest. All the damage you incurred earlier because of the smoking can be reverted back to normal in quick time.

Dear user. I can understand. Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. Smoking can affect your mouth, throat, lungs, heart, stomach and brain in many ways. Cancer is one among the potential diseases smoking can cause. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. Nicotine chewing gums too help as an alternative for cigarettes. But still you will need will power. You may consult a physician or deaddiction therapist or a rehabilitation facility for further advice. You can also opt for online deaddiction therapy. Take care.

Hi lybrate-user, your elder brother is suffering from alcohol dependance syndrome. Which is a medical disorder. He is unable to quit at his own, rather not motivated to quit. There are proper treatment of alcohol deaddiction. For this you probaby have to admit him under a psychiatrist trained in deaddiction. There he wll need detoxification treatment; intense psychotherapy e. G. Motivation therapy, relapse prevention therapy, assertive therapy etc. He will also need antcraving therapy. A through gastrointestinal checkup is also required by a gastroenterologist. Hope with proper guidance n family support your brother can be helped.

I lost somebody last year and till now I feel depressed and want to get rid off from depression. Pls help me.

I lost somebody last year and till now I feel depressed and want to get rid off from depression. Pls help me.
Losing a loved one can be a highly charged and very traumatic time. Though coping with loss can be a deeply personal experience, below mentioned few basic and universal steps to the bereavement and grief process. Knowing these steps can help you to work through your grief over the loss of a loved one. Step 1: Allow the feelings Coping with the loss of a loved one brings up almost every emotion imaginable. There are times when more than one emotion seems to take hold at once, and you may feel as if you're “going crazy.” It's natural to feel this way, as it's normal to experience a number of different feelings. Gently remind yourself in your time of bereavement and grief that your feelings are yours, and they are well within the norm. It's important to your process to understand that there is no" right" or" wrong" when it comes to your feelings about losing a loved one. Step 2: Gather support While there may be times as you are coping with loss when you'll wish to be alone, it's important to gather a support group around you for those times when you might need them. Friends, family, a Minister or Rabbi and perhaps even a therapist are all people who can and should be accessed during your grief process. These individuals can be accessed for emotional support as well as physical needs, if required. The death of a loved one often leaves a large hole in the life of the survivor that can be, at least temporarily, occupied by a support team. Step 3: Allow the grieving process Bereavement and grief is a process. It's important to know that every person has their own way of coping with loss. You cannot put a time limit on your grief. You must allow yourself to experience the stages of grief as they come up. Stages may also be revisited. These stages are: Denial: Your experience is incomprehensible, initially. You find it impossible to believe the loss of your loved one is real, and you may be numb from the experience. Anger: As the truth of the situation begins to take hold, it's normal to feel anger and rage. This anger may be directed at yourself, the loved one for leaving you, doctors for not healing your loved one or even at God. Bargaining: It's not unusual for survivors to cope with loss by trying to negotiate, usually with their Higher Power. Don't be surprised if you find yourself trying to make an “if only” deal with God. Depression: The overwhelming sadness you feel is normal, and in most cases will not last forever. It's common to feel as if life will never be the same. Acceptance: While this final stage of bereavement and grief is called “acceptance,” this refers to coming to terms with the finality of the loss and moving forward with your life. It does not mean that, from time to time, you may not revisit some of the stages listed above, but rather that the pain of your loss will become more manageable. Step 4: Embrace life The pain of your loss is real and must be felt, there will come a time when you must begin to live your own life again. By working through overcoming the death of a loved one, you will come to a place of accepting the death as a reality. You will find yourself able to move forward and embrace your life without your loved one by your side. Your process through bereavement and grief are your own. Everyone responds differently to coping with loss. Above all, be kind to yourself and know that you will wake one day and find the pain is less, and life can go on.

Dear lybrate-user, clinical depression is a neurochemical disorder. Clinical depression is usually treated with a combination of psychiatric medicines, psychotherapy, life style changes, meditation and exercise. Once you make the necessary amendments in your life with the help of the above said therapies and life style changes, learn how to manage the depressive episodes without medicines and learn to relax, the medicines can be weaned off over a period of one year. Take care.
