Lybrate-user, fbs between 108 mg to 125 mg is considered as pre- diabetes. There is no treatment required, but better to take precautions like avoiding excess sweets, junk foods, pastries, bakery items, sweetened aerated drinks (colas), fructose corn syrup containing products, highly processed food products and high fat milk products. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads, and fruits. Use whole grain products, avoid refined flour like maida. Exercise daily for at least 1 hour. To diagnose diabetes fasting should be >126 mg & pp > 200 mg/100 ml. So please check pp level and inform.

My haemoglobin, mcv, mch, haematocrit levels are low and rdw level is high. Do I have iron deficiency anemia. Also my eosinophils level is 1550/cumm. Do I also have hes.

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
General Physician, Delhi
Dear , thanks for the detailed description. We would love to have the exact figures of your hb, mcv, mch, mchc, and your rdw. However from the data given we can safely assume that you have microscopic and hypochlorite anemia. Which has 3 principle causes 1. Iron deficiency. 2. Thalassemia 3. Sideronblastic anemia. Please do a reticulocyte count and a peripheral blood smear also. Hes is a rare diagnosis. Most probably your high absolute eosinophil counts are due to intestinal worms.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Peanuts, beans and peas:-they are rich in protein, vitamins and minerals. The best part is, they make you grow taller! the nutrients in them help optimize your growth by stimulating the growth hormones in your body. If you are allergic to peanuts, that it alright. You can take fresh peas instead.

1. Have small frequent meals (6-8) instead of 3-4 large ones 2. Include good quality protein in all your meals- milk, curd, channa, sprouts, soyabean, whole egg, fatty fish, chicken, nuts, oilseeds, cereal-pulse combinations (pongal, khichri, premix, atta-besan chila) 3. Milk milk is a great source of protein and carbohydrates, along with many other nutrients making it great for weight gain. A 100 ml serving contains around 3.4g of protein and if you drink 2 glasses every day, you would have consumed 14g of protein eggs eggs too are a great source of protein, with 100 g containing as much as 13 g of protein. They are also loaded with several vitamins like vitamin a and vitamin b12 making them an excellent health food energy bars energy bars like granola bars might not be healthy if you are trying to lose weight, but it? s a good option for those trying to gain it. They are loaded with nuts and calories, and if consumed in moderation, they can help add some weight. Oats oats are rich in fibre, and a 100 g serving contain 17 g of protein. They are also rich in iron, making them a great health food for everyone and not just for those who are trying to lose weight banana bananas are often recommended in most diet plans for weight gain. A single banana can contain 105 calories and gives you an instant source of energy. Also, they contain a lot of carbohydrates making them a great food to have to replenish yourself after a workout. If you waste your time eating foods that have too much volume, it's going to be a real struggle to meet your calorie requirements, and this will hinder your ability to build muscle. Good, high-calorie dense foods include peanuts, peanut butter, raw oats, lean red meat, bagels, and dried fruit for weight gain medicenes available 3 month course no any side effects ayurvedic medicenes. You can take the medicine either before or after meal, but you need to maintain gap for about 25-30 min, means have meal or something after half an hour of taking medicine and vice versa. If you have 2 tabs of one medicine, you can have it both together. If you have 2 tabs of different medicines, then maintain a gap asper guided by doctor.

Is taking eggs in diabetics useful or harmful when my cholesterol level is within limits.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

Is taking eggs in diabetics useful or harmful when my cholesterol level is within limits.
Thanks for the query. For a person with diabetes it very important to first and foremost achieve a strict blood glucose control, with FBG <100 mg, PP 159 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. Then have a very controlled diet that provides calories based on ideal body weight, and extent of exercise. Eggs are a good source of protein and can be taken by a person with diabetes. You can consume the whole egg. There is no need to discard egg yolk. Thanks.

BAMS

Overall body is lean but tummy is coming out please suggest some medicine for it.
Belly fat is due to deposition of fatty tissues on the abdominal area. The depostion of fatty tissue on belly are due to * long time sitting jobs * lack of physical activities * intake of high calories food 1. To get the flat belly, fist take the food having high fibers contents such as fruits, leafy vegetables, oats, corns. Avoid refined carbohydrates & foods having rich fat. 1. Work out for atleast 1 hour in whole day. You can try skipping for 15 minutes with a walk of 30 minutes or 5-10 minutes running. 2. Practice the spefic exercises that directly stimulate the belly muscles to burn the belly fats. Such as - lie down on flat surface, raise your legs without bending your knees, do it for 3-5 times daily. 3. Do surya namaskar yoga everyday. 4. Eat foods on the time of taking foods like only 3 times or 2 times a day. Do not take food again & again in 1-2 hours. 5. Do not skip the breakfast any day. You can take some dry fruits and skimmed milk in morning for better result. 6. Avoid food containing animal fat such as butter, cheese, eggs, chicken, fish. Instead of them, take plants derived fat such as soya milk, tofu, mustard oil.

You have not detailed your current body weight and height and blood pressure here. Please do morning walk (brisk-walking)/ treadmill/swimming for at least 60 minutes daily - which ever is possible for you. Keep moving as much as you can whenever you can. Keep meal portions small especially if they’re cooked. Limit your food intake which SHOULD be and ONLY be 4 times a day (but this should be a balance one). Remember what you eat is directly going to affect your new born if you are breast feeding him. Do never skip meals. Take a heavy breakfast. Avoid sedentary life/night watching/junk foods. The best way to burn more calories is to build muscle through resistance training. For each pound of muscle that you gain, you burn approximately 50-70 calories in addition per day (5 pounds of muscle gain equates to burning 250-350 calories a day!) Please follow the above for next 4 weeks and revert for further treatment.

Nullifying The Top 3 Myths About Homeopathy

Nullifying The Top 3 Myths About Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a field of medicine that uses natural resources to make a difference on a long term and on sustained basis. It is used by over 200 million people. This medicinal field can be used to treat acute and chronic conditions, including those that have not enjoyed successful, sustained treatment with allopathic methods. It is known, not to have any side effects, usually. But this efficient system of treatment has also been under fire due to various myths. Here, we clear the air on three of them!

Unscientific Medicines: These medicines are usually termed as unscientific by cynics. The truth is that the metals and minerals contained in the medicines are tested and put under trial before they are released for consumption. The values are recorded on Periodic Tables. The substances also include ingredients like plants and snake's venom. Each medicine's symptoms and accidental allergies are recorded and put forth with a perspective on human nature. The books on homeopathy are written and recorded on the basis of the symptoms and allergic reactions. Also, many people believe that the medicines are simply water as they are diluted solutions. These medicines are diluted with a method called Succussion, which makes a dose potent with the help of vigorous shaking. While higher potency drugs are given to those suffering from an emotional state of belief regarding an ailment, lower potency medication is prescribed for those suffering from severe cases.

Training: It is a major myth that Homeopaths do not really undergo proper medical training. The truth is that all these doctors have to go through a four year long process of training via courses offered at accredited colleges and universities. Further, the course also includes modules on Pathology, Anatomy and other fields like Materia Medica and Homeopathic Philosophy. By the time the training is over, the doctor is like any other doctor in any other field. Further, with constant research and practice, the doctor can become even more of an expert within ten years.

No Proof of Efficiency: While it is a well known fact that homeopathy efficacy cannot be tested by standardised methods, due to the personalisation of the medication for each individual, it is also true that the efficacy has been proven with 180 controlled tests in the past 24 years and 118 random tests in the same time frame.

It is important to know your facts before you decide to go with a certain field of medicine. With homeopathy, there will be a lot of focus on the human mind as well as the ailment for an inside out approach.
