Since how long your liver are raised. Treatment depends upon whether the inflammation of liver which cause raised liver enzymes can be due to viral infection like hepatitis a, b, c or due to fat deposition in the liver, or immunological injury or drug induced or chronic alcoholism. Why have you started taking viboliv because it is given mainly in alcoholic liver disease though some evidence has favoured its usage non alcoholic steatohepatitis (nash). If you are taking alcohol, your symptoms are suggestive of acute alcoholic hepatitis which can be exacerbating alcohol induced chronic liver disease if you are chronic alcoholic. I suggest, you consult a heptologist and act accordingly.

Some vegetables are known to contain certain ingredients that have the ability to facilitate digestion and thus, they help to improve the appetite. For example, raw grated radish mixed with a little curd is a strong appetizer. Raw white onion and raw cucumber also have strong appetizing properties. Regular consumption of bitter-tasting foods such as amaranth, fenugreek and bitter gourd also helps to improve the secretion of digestive juices and this helps increase appetite. Tomato also has the ability to deal with indigestion and can help improve appetite. Add generous amounts of red and juicy tomatoes into your gravies, make a soup with tomato and other spices or just eat the vegetable raw by sprinkling a little pepper powder on it.

Adenomyosis - Know What It Is!

MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, DGO, Fellowship In Aesthetic Medicine

Adenomyosis - Know What It Is!

Adenomyosis is a condition which occurs when the muscle wall of the uterus is broken by the endometrium lining. You experience pressure in the lower abdomen, menstrual cramps and bloating, before the onset of menstrual periods, resulting in heavy bleeding during the periods. This disorder is not life threatening but is known to cause pain and heavy bleeding.

Symptoms-

The symptoms of adenomyosis are severe pain during periods, prolonged periods and pressure in the abdominal area. You may also experience heavy bleeding during the periods and may also experience intense pain. Sex may be very painful as well. The lower abdomen might feel tender and bigger; this occurs when the size of the uterus increases in this particular condition.

Causes-

The exact cause of this disorder is not yet ascertained. However, certain possible causes could be:

  1. Congenital Defect: In this case, the condition is known to occur from birth wherein the endometrial tissue grows on the uterine muscle wall during the fetus formation.
  2. Invasive Growth of Tissues: This is said to occur when endometrial cells invade the uterus lining, leading to adenomyosis. This can also be triggered by a C-section operation.
  3. Inflammation During Childbirth: During the childbirth process, inflammation may occur in the lining of the uterus leading to this disorder.

In addition to the possible cause, there are certain risk factors which increase the risks of the disorder, such as:

  1. Aging

  2. Giving birth to a child

  3. Surgery related to the uterus such as a C-section

Treatment-

Once you reach menopause, this disorder tends to subside. So depending on how close you are to menopause, the treatment is designed accordingly. The various treatments for adenomyosis are –

  1. Anti-inflammatory Medications: If you are nearing menopause, then anti-inflammatory medications will be administered. This helps in reducing pain and the heavy blood flow.

  2. Hormone Medications: Hormone medications such as hormone patches can also help with the bleeding and pain.

  3. Hysterectomy: If the pain turns intense, then the doctor may recommend hysterectomy, a surgery to remove the uterus.

Importance Of Sex Education In Schools!

Importance Of Sex Education In Schools!

Sex education in Indian schools has always been a subject of controversy. In India, sex education is only a part of the curriculum and the implementation is still a distant thought. Not many schools in India understand the importance of sex education and still consider it as a taboo. It is important that people break this mental block and talk about the importance of sex education in today’s world.

Why is sex education important?
The kids in their teens can be highly unpredictable, they love to experiment and take the risk which makes them more vulnerable to making mistakes. Sex education can help them in developing a sense of responsibility and also expose the youngsters to their body images, intimacy, sexual expression, gender identity, marriage relationship and family responsibility. This, in turn, will help them make an informed decision later in life.

Why is sex education in India considered a sensitive problem?
Our nation is a coalesce of different cultures, languages, religions, food and several such factors. The sheer diversity of Indian culture that is spread across the geographical extent of the nation is itself a threat of its own. And as the topic is quite sensitive, every single geographical boundary should take sincere steps for improving the value system.

Contrary to popular misconception, sex education is not really limited to sex or birth control. In fact, it is the most crucial education to be imparted to an individual who is entering into his or her teens. It is important to address the potential confusion that is bound to be related to the psychological and physiological alterations which start setting in during the adolescent years.

Tips to impart sex education to youngsters:

  1. It should be made mandatory in both Government and Private schools and cover all aspects of sex education.
  2. The study material should deal with risky behaviors among teens that includes physical abuse, sexual abuse leading to early and unwanted pregnancies, forced sex and indulgence in pornography.
  3. The curriculum should cover unethical aspects of such risky behavior.
  4. The education will provide necessary knowledge of methods of contraception and how they are important.
  5. A huge section of the population in India fall below the poverty line and do not have access to schools. In such cases, alternative methods of education such as health camps and film screenings can help.
  6. Proper sex education can help them understand the importance of personal hygiene which is a great cause of concern in India.
  7. Teachers and parents should take the responsibility of educating the youngsters about the different aspects of sex as proper information is the best way to put their inquisitive thoughts to rest.
  8. Prejudice and biases prevent one from understanding the importance of sex education. Every youth must undertake this venture as a responsibility and not just as curriculum.

Sex education is a critical but sensitive aspect of education where the content of this type of curriculum requires to take into account the various cultural, regional and religious sentiment within the framework of the law and constitution. Sex education is taken as a serious subject in many countries and it is important for our country as well to take steps in improving the perception of this taboo subject. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

It may happen sometimes, you have to go for regular follow-up with your doctor and mention about it ( you can check it at home and plot a chart ). Let the doctor review your case afresh taking into consideration all the facts and check your general health. Discuss about your concerns and what precautions to be taken. He doctor may reduce or change the medicine. At your end maintain a regular routine ( eat healthy food with calorie count ) and exercise as usual. Please revert after that for any more clarification.
