My daughter is about 40 kg over weight. Nothing works for long. Plus I feel she has done emotional eating issues.
She needs much support, guidance and gentle encouragement. Pushing or criticism will not help. Also short cut methods, medicines, supplements should be completely avoided. Best is to use combination of Diet + Walk + Meditation + Personal Guidance by any dietician who works with Holistic approach. Weight is a side effect of so many mind issues. You need to discover what and why are those emotions getting triggered. Then try to solve those emotional issues as well.

My baby is 1 years old and have been taking formula along with breast milk. Now, I have to transition her to cow's milk but she is not liking it and puking every time. Is there anything that I can add to cows milk and give it to her? Please suggest.

One year old baby can eat simple foods like rice, chapati, dal, vegetables, fruits, potato fingers, sweet potato etc. In addition, she can get her share of calcium from curd, cheese, paneer, buttermilk etc. If she is not able to take a particular brand of milk, you can wait for a few weeks and try later. Aim to giver her complete nutrition now slowly. Just keep the spices and oils low.

1. To lose weight/belly fat make healthy food choices and add more exercise/activity. Take 1400 calories diet per day. 2. Add 2-3 Fruits per day taken 30 mins before meals. 3. ‎Eat plain roti/rice with dal with a bowl of salad in each meal. 4. Cut down Sweets/Biscuits/Colas / Fruit Juice from your diet. 5. Completely eliminate Puris/Parathas/Pizzas/Burgers/Fried Rice etc 6. Exercise daily - 'Intense' Cardio exercises for 40-60 mins. This will keep you slim and trim.

To gain weight you can follow these steps. 1. Take two fruits per day and one glass fruit juice. 2. Eat 20 almonds & 5 dates daily. Drink full cream milk, curd, lassi, banana shakes etc. 3. If your are Non veg you can have more eggs, chicken, fish. 4. For Veg - have more dals, rajma, kabuli chana, soya beans etc. 5. Avoid junk food and colas. Avoid chips and other namkeen. 6. No need to take artificial supplements. Natural diet is best. 7. Go for 30 mins walks / exercise / yoga daily.

Height increase will happen naturally till 16-18 years for boys. More activities and games can help him increase height to his optimum level. However height is also based on genes. You can not lose weight by eating oats or having green tea. Such advice is highly exaggerated. Green tea or oats have beneficial nutrition, however, they have no magical powers to reduce any weight. To lose weight, you need to reduce overall calories per day and do regular exercise. In your case you need to follow 1000 calories per day diet. That way you will be able to lose about 2-3 kgs in a month. Best will be to consult a dietician who can customise a diet plan for you. That will be a better approach.

Recently TSH report found as 7.8 and the doctor prescribed Thyrox-25. After from the medicine please advise me some effective home remedy so that it can be normal quickly. I heard that in case of high TSH, weight increases but patient’s weight is decreasing. Is it normal? In addition, is it current, high TSH value mainly affects throat and its size? Because of any reason if TSH value becomes normal, is there any change again for its abnormal value?

There is no home remedy for Hypothyroidism. Please take medicine regularly and do test every six months. In case the TSH comes down to normal, the doctor can advise you to reduce / remove medicines. Else you have to take it continuously, there is no other option. Weight loss or gain may fluctuate a bit, about 2-3% only. High TSH does not effect throat size. There is nothing abnormal in it. It happens to many people. Its perfectly fine, no need to worry. Just take your medicines regularly and be happy.
