There are no special drinks to reduce weight. Lemon / honey does not lead to any weight loss. These are all myths. 1. Its possible to lose weight by a positive change in food habits and lifestyle only. 2. Add 2-3 Fruits per day taken before meals. 3. Cut down Sweets/Biscuits/ Colas from your diet. Take 10-15 almonds per day. 4. Completely eliminate Puris/Parathas/Pizzas/Burgers/Fried Rice etc 5. ‎Eat plain roti/rice with simple dal and lots of salad in each meals. 6. Exercise daily - 'Intense' Cardio for 40-60 mins. This will keep you slim and trim.

Hi Sir, Do calories from hard liquor adjust as much caloric energy fat as calories from other sources and What are "empty calories" so many people refer to. Please help me on it.

A glass of Cola will give you 80 calories. An apple too will give you 80 calories. However the 80 calories you get when you eat an Apple will also be accompanied by many vitamins, minerals, fiber, anti oxidants etc. However from Cola you get 80 calories from Sugar only and has no other vitamins, or any benefit to the body. Rather consuming Cola on a regular basis can cause obesity, sugar and other problems. Hence such calories from Colas, liquor, junk food are called as empty calories.

You are about 18 kgs overweight. You can slowly get your weight down by proper nutrition. If you don't have exercise, you can walk for 10-10 mins whenever possible in morning and evening. Follow these steps for weight reduction. 1. Aim for permanent weight loss by change in food habits/lifestyle. 2. Add 2-3 Fruits per day taken in gaps between meals. 3. Cut down Sweets/Biscuits/ Colas from your diet. Take 10-15 almonds per day. 4. For BP problem, reduce pickles, chips, papad, sauce, tea, coffee. Reduce salt in foods. For managing BP take daily beetroot juice, walnuts. Do daily exercise for 60 mins and Breathing exercises/Meditation for 10-20 mins. For weight reduction cut down all fried foods, sweet foods, colas etc. You are the borderline for High BP. I was extremely fat 4 years ago. I did run a lot to get back in shape but now when I am done, the fat hasn't gone. It is still present to my stomach. How can I get rid of it?

Diploma In Diet & Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Hyderabad
It is good that you reduced your weight. To further give shape to your abs, you need to regularly do abs based exercises. Also try some intensive aerobics, skipping and reduce your carb intake. Slowly you will see that the abdomen fat will reduce and you will get into a good shape. Just be patient and stick to your routine.

Reduce white foods like white rice, maida, white bread etc. Replace them with brown rice, multigrain atta, millets etc. Cut down all junk food like burgers, pizza etc. Take a 1300 calories diet with regular exercise. Drink lot of water daily. Aim to reduce 2 kgs in a month so that in 5-6 months you can come down to your ideal weight.
