I'm working out daily in a multi Gym for one hour- my aim is to reduce fats & gain muscles although I have gained good muscles, i'm very much health conscious. My question -is whey protein 100% safe. What is the recommended dose of whey protein powder should I take per day to be on safe side.(weight 68, height 5.9)

Hye. Thankyou for the query. Understand that just because you go to the gym does not justify taking a protein supplement. Also you cannot lose fats or gain muscles by just taking a protein supplement. It's not about the supplement being safe but it's more essential to know whether you really need supplementation and if you do then when and in what amount. Your needs for proteins definitely increase if you workout but they can be fulfilled by a healthy well planned natural diet as well. You don't randomly take supplements and neither is there a standard dose of protein supplement. You requirements need to be calculated as per your activity levels, workout intensity and food intake.

I am getting too much lazy every day what's the reason I am not getting by this I am not able to study for my xams. So kindly tell me how to become very active.

If you are feeling lazy, then it could be due to weakness. Weakness is a result of lack of physical or muscle strength. If you are feeling that extra effort is required to move your arms, legs, or other muscles, it could also be a result of any disease, illness and too much activity at one time and not taking the food to match the amount of physical effort you are doing. Sometimes low levels of minerals (electrolytes), such as potassium or sodium also result in body weakness. Other important reason could be the problems with your thyroid gland. Because your thyroid gland is responsible for regulating the way the body uses energy. A low thyroid level can cause fatigue, weakness, laziness, weight gain etc. And a high thyroid level can cause fatigue, weight loss, muscle weakness etc. Sometime because of stress you may feel disinterest in your routine works. Since the reasons for your weakness are not known, I shall advise the following - 1. Keep yourself hydrated. 2. Get extra rest for some days till you feel more energetic. 3. Avoid watching television for long hours. Indulge in relaxing activities. 4. Avoid stress and too much physical exertion. 5. Take a nutritious diet with more protein items in homemade food like soya, sprouts, dals, paneer, milk, seasonal fruits. 6. Do light physical activity, meditation and yoga. 7. Take one good multivitamin tablet after food for 7 days.

Hi lybrate-user Try to lose weight naturally. Exercise regularly and eat a balanced diet. Avoid weight loss supplements. Ten Ways to Improve Your Diet 1. Eat 2 fruits every day. 2. Add fibre to your diet. For example oats, Rajma 3. Increase your vegetable intake. You should consume minimum 3 seasonal vegetables everyday 4. Stop eating when you are satisfied. Be aware of portion sizes. Eat a gap of 2 hours so that there is sustained release of energy. 5. Eat whole grains such as brown rice, whole wheat bread, and whole grain cereals, Oats 6. Enjoy two sources of low-fat dairy products every day: milk, yogurt. 7. Use cold pressed vegetable oils. 8. Limit saturated fat. Read the labels. And remember that fatty meats or cheeses, butter, and whole milk products have large amounts of saturated fat. 9. Eat 6 meals every day. Small portions at regular interval. 10. Target 8-10 glasses of water everyday. The best way to judge the water intake is by the colour of the urine. The yellowish it gets that means you are dehydrated and need to take water. Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical activity, your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote your overall health.

I want to be fit and healthy. What should I do for my body fitness? What will I eat?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, We need to make few changes in our life to stay fit and healthy (if there is no medical condition): - Just walking alone is a very beneficial exercise which can help you stay in shape, feel more energetic, and get healthy. Always take stairs rather than taking an elevator. -Standing while you work can help your body get more activity than if you were just sitting down. Spend at least some of your work day standing instead of sitting in order to help your blood flow and maintain your muscles. -Do more chores. Lots of household chores actually involve a lot of exercise and being better about doing chores can be a great way for you to fit activity and exercise into your day. -Aim to exercise for a total of 30 minutes per day and you’ll easily be able to maintain your fitness level. -Some exercises will be more efficient than others, and choosing these more efficient exercises means that the small amount of time that you do spend exercising will really count. Try to choose exercises that focus on your core muscles, since your legs and arms can get activity through daily activities like lifting bags of groceries and walking a longer distance from your car. Try squats, planks, burpees. -Get indulge into some activity at home like riding a bicycle, swimming, playing active games with your kids. -Eating right. Cut out unhealthy fats and take in healthy fats. The easiest way to identify unhealthy fats is to look for “solid” fats, or fats that are solid at room temperature. Get plenty of protein. Protein will help you maintain your muscles and also give you the energetic feeling that you may be missing now that you’re getting less exercise. Good protein sources include skinless chicken, turkey, salmon, anchovies, sardines, oysters, almonds, walnuts, peanuts and peas. Eat properly portioned, balanced meals. Generally, about ⅓ of your plate should be fruits and vegetables and ⅓ of your plate should be grains. The final third should be a mix of protein and low-fat dairy (cottage cheese, eggs, non-fat milk, etc). -Drinking enough water also has the added bonus of keeping your hunger level down, helping you to maintain the lower calorie count that you’ll be getting now that you’re not exercising as much.
