To gain weight you should eat more calories than you burn. Plus not only you have to eat calorie dense food but you have to keep in mind that what you are eating is healthy too. In the process of weight gain you do not want to put weight in an uneven manner and look unhealthy rather than looking bright and healthy. 1.Start with changing your lifestly. Start working out if you are not active. The biggest myth that prevails now a days is that thin people do not need to work out. This is wrong. When you challenge your body, it is forced to grow. But this growth can only be possible if you are eating enough food to let the body absorb and grow in size and muscles. 2.Eat Healthy – Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food, pepsi, sugary stuff etc. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 3 hours. This means you have to eat 6 small meals in a day. Your Daily food intake should ideally consist of – a.Have plenty of nuts, dry fuits and seeds. Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. B.Good amount of fruits and vegetables – Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. C.If you are a non- vegetarian - Eat eggs, chicken etc. D.Eat whole grains – Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. E.Eat Sprouts – Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. F.You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. If you are lacking in protein, you can buy a high quality whey protein and have it with banana shake twice a day. G.You can take natural food items like wheat grass which is full of essential nutrients which helps in weight gain. Try to be patient while you are on the process of weight gain. Results take time to show. Just follow the regimen of weight gain religiously and you will soon start seeing the results.

Hi thanks for the query. Firstly understand that weight gain is very dependent on genetics and metabolism. So don't worry, it may take time. It is also possible you are not eating the right foods at the right time and as per your work out. It is important to know that just eating just two heavy meals a day will not help. Eating the right foods at the right time is very important. Eat meals at frequent intervals. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, nuts, fruits in your meals. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. Even if you were to take medicines or supplements they will not work in isolation you need to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal.

Though Buttermilk and Curds are similar in their origin, they do differ in composition and benefits. According to Ayurveda, the churning (Manthana) process involved in making Buttermilk makes it different from that of curds Buttermilk is rich in Calcium, Pottassium, Vitamin B12 and Lactic Acid. When Buttermilk should be preffered? The buttermilk can be used even when there is less appettite Obese people and all those who want to put down their weight should preferably include buttermilk in their diet. Buttermilk is considered as AMRITA or celestial nectar of immortality especially if used during SheetaKala (cold seasons). In this season the buttermilk from which the butter has not been separated should be taken into use. Buttemilk is easily digestable and also low in fat content. So it can be consumed even during night times. Health & Nutrition Benefits of Eating Yogurt Consumption of yogurt or curd has been associated with strengthening of the immune system. I am too skinny. I want to know tips on gaining weight. I booze occasionally. I smoke 5 cigarettes a day. I only have 2 meals in a day. I work in a call center so my food timings fluctuate. I had serious mass supplements once but while having I did not performed enough exercise thats why I suffered from piles too however recovered now. Supplement did not helped me in gaining weight. White Rice Vs Brown Rice

White Rice Vs Brown Rice

White rice is originally Brown rice which has been thoroughly refined before it is made available in the stores. Rice grain in its natural unpolished state is rich in fiber, thiamine, proteins, magnesium, calcium, and potassium. Whole rice is also rich in fiber which is good for your digestive system and also aids you to manage your weight effectively. There is a raging debate over the type of rice which is good for your health.

The following are some of the pointers that compare white rice to brown rice:

  1. Calorie composition: White rice contains more calories when compared to brown rice. A cup of white rice comprises of 242 calories, while a cup of brown rice comprises of 218 calories. Brown rice is recommended to people who are interested to cut down on their calorie intake as a whole.
  2. Carbohydrates and Fiber composition: Both brown rice and white rice are rich in carbohydrate. A cup of brown rice comprises of 53 grams of carbohydrates and a cup of brown rice comprises of 46 grams of the same. But when it comes to fiber content, brown rice contains more fiber. Fiber is known to boost the blood cholesterol level and aids in weight management; therefore brown rice is more beneficial for help.
  3. Fat and Protein composition: In case of fat and protein composition, both types of rice have a low fat composition while a cup of each type of rice contains about 4.5 grams of protein.
  4. Vitamins and Minerals composition: Brown rice is known to contain more percentage of natural vitamins and minerals when compared to white rice. White rice is thoroughly refined which results in the loss of its natural properties. The manufacturers tend to add vitamins and minerals artificially during the processing of the whole rice grain.
  5. Glycemic Index: According to studies, foods which have a high glycemic index tend to increase your blood sugar level. As per the glycemic index, brown rice has a much lower glycemic index than white rice. The average glycemic index of white rice is about 89 while in case of brown rice it's 50.

It can be said that brown rice is much more nutritious than white rice due to its wholesomeness and higher concentration of nutrients. Brown rice is highly recommended to those people who are health conscious and tend to be careful about their calorie intake.

To reduce your cholesterol and you should avoid most animal fats food sources, like red meat, full cream milk and butter etc. Also avoid extra oils in cooking, fried foods, junk foods, indian sweets and desserts, ice creams, pastries and cakes.

I am a total ectomorph type. I love bodybuilding, I've been exercising from 8 years till now I've found difficulties in gaining weight and muscle, I sweat a lot. Mr it appears that present medications are not much helpful to her, only way is to shift to long acting basal analogue insulin like injection basalog of biocon star with a dose of 6 units before breakfast and increase on alternate days by two units till target fasting levels are attained. For this self monitoring of blood glucose has to be done. Plus please do inform her hba1c level and lipid profile, weigt, height and physical activity level for me to guide.

Hi lybrate-user tips for weight loss eat fresh vegetables daily. Avoid having sugar completely. Eat whole wheat bread instead of white bread; avoid everything made from white flour and make whole wheat bread, chapattis and brown rice a way of life. Do not skip a meal and eat three meals a day. Drink plenty of water to eliminate the toxins from the system. Limit your fat intake to 2-3 teaspoons a day. Increase the fiber intake as it provides a sense of fullness and also prevents hunger pangs. Take antioxidants for protecting the body against the toxins released during weight loss. Exercise catalyzes your efforts to lose weight and even regular walking for thirty minutes can give you the benefits of an aerobics exercise. To improve the metabolism, try increasing the duration, frequency, intensity of your daily workout. Remember that maintaining the ideal weight is a lifetime commitment and not a short-term affair. Firmly believe that the pleasure of being trim and healthy is far better than the pleasure of eating unwisely.

correct diet & lifestyle is what you require to shed off extra weight as medicines will spoil your health. Diet- avoid junk/ processed/canned/ ready to eat/ fried/ sugary foods, cold drinks, alcohol, havs small frequent meals at regular intervals, eat slowly chewing your food well, replace simple carbs- potato, sugar, sabudana, maida, noodles, cake, biscuit, white rice, white bread with complex carbs- whole fruits, salads, sabji, sprouts, brown rice, dalia, suji, oats, bajra, medua. Activity- practice kapalbhati daily for at least 1/2 hr along with toe touching & weights, take stairs instead of lift, do household chores, walk/ cycle instead of hiring transport
