Our Daily energy requirements for proper functioning of our body is 1600-2200 K cal of Energy if we want to remain fit and healthy. But there is a misconception that weight is reduced by dieting. But weight is not reduced by only skipping our meals or prohibition from sugars but until we are not aware what are our body energy requirements ,it will be difficult to loose weight. If we restrict ourself from taking daily diet to 1100-1200 Kcalories ,and increases our workouts, only then we can think about reducing our weight and for that we must obtain proper knowledge of exact energy levels in a particular dish we are eating, only then we can achieve our target of reducing weight by means of simple mathematical calculation. Diet Plan for Weight Loss (1200 calories) Food Item Amount Calories (kcal) Protein (g) Early Morning Lukewarm water with lemon 1 cup Tea (without sugar) 1 cup 35Kcal 4g Marie biscuits 2 56 Kcal Breakfast Skimmed milk with sugar 1 glass 90 Kcal 8g Brown bread upma 1 plate 205 Kcal 6g OR Besan Chilla 2 290 Kcal 12g Mid-Morning Fruit salad 1 small bowl 40 Kcal Lunch Veg Khichdi 1 medium bowl 202.5 Kcal 9.5g Veg raita 1 small bowl 75 Kcal 3.5g Mix veg salad 1 bowl 30 Kcal 2g Evening Tea (without sugar) 1 cup 35 Kcal 4g Wheat rusk 2 120 Kcal 6g Dinner Missi roti (without oil) 2 200 Kcal 6g Mix veg 1 medium bowl 95 Kcal 4g Curd 1 small bowl 30 Kcal 1.5g Total 1213 kcal 54.5 g

I am female running 30, suffering from weight gain, almost reaching 100kg. Will you please suggest to reduce by surgery or any other options. Thanks.

eat small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Lastly be committed. Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing. It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, try to first follow this seemingly simple tips. I am sure it will at least help you with initial fat loss.

Hello, Small frequent meal. High rich protein diet milk shakes allowed like banana shakes, mango shakes, chiku shakes •Increase your appetite by eating more to gain weight. But do it step-by-step and not by stuffing yourself too much at one go. Add one extra chapatti or more rice than you normally consume, or you even start with fruits by eating an extra one every day. Carbs are needed to gain weight but include healthier options like banana, potato, mango, whole grains, rice, etc. Instead of sugar-rich foods, chocolates, and other junk foods.

I consuming approx 6 no of raw eggs the evening time before going to gym but I want to know that, can I take more no of raw eggs in a single day (morning and evening) because I want to start workout in morning time as well to build good muscles. Is there any side effects of consuming more raw eggs.

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Hye. I would advise you to try and bump up your protein intake by taking 3 whole and about 10 egg whites instead in each session of practice. Depending on what level and intensity of workout you are doing you will still achieve almost 30 grammes of protein for whites itself and get the benefits of the fats in the yolk as well. Secondly, raw eggs is an absolute no. Please go for hard boiled eggs instead. Also remember your basic diet is crucial too. You can't exclusively depend on eggs for health.

Is nutrum mur and lycopodium is effective to get rid off fats deposited in thighs and buttocks?
Hi, Homoeopathic medicines are prescribed on the basis of symptoms. Natrum mur and Lycopodium are polychrest medicines , so instead of these , you should take Phytolacca Berry tabs , 3 tabs with hot water twice daily before meals.

I am 28 years old female. I am a married woman. This is our third year after marriage and we have a 7 months old daughter. We both love each other but still we are fighting for some things and are not living happy. I am a working woman so I am staying away from my husband. I live with my parents. He works in other place and so he lives alone. My mother in law stays in other place. I have been sending my salary to my mother in law soon after getting married. She takes care of everything and my husband do not involve in any financial matter. I have been asking him to start savings for our future but all went in vein. Now we have a daughter and we have to take care of her future and so I asked hm to save one salary for our baby and use other salary for household expenses. My MIL is staying in our own house and there is no need for paying rent and so the expenses would me maximum of 15000. So I asked him to use his salary for expenses and I will save my salary for baby. I will just keep 10000 for my and baby expenses. But still he is asking to send 20000 for my mother in law. I can save only 20000 for baby. I am not sure for how long will I work. So I want to save something before I quit my job. So we are getting argued every time. I don't know why he is not understanding me. If there is a real requirement I don't have any problem in sending money. And we don't have savings since our marriage though I sent my salary every month. So I am very much worried about savings. As I am staying away from my husband and working I am missing my life with him. So at least I should feel happy if there are savings for our baby. Is my thinking process is wrong?

Three years is very short time in marriage and in those 3 years also you stayed separately from husband and in that you had a pregnancy as well. Think about the lack of connectivity and bonding in relationship. Also it shows poor intimate relationships because you stay away from husband and on top of that there is confusion about financial matters which involves your mother-in-law as well. Now when there is lack of bonding in marriage, confusion bounds to happen. To begin with, first of all have an open interaction with husband without blaming each other. Then Find a common ground of quality personal relationship between both of you. If you are unable to do it own your own then you need to connect with a Marriage and Relationship expert to open your heart out and to find guidance & support. Later your husband may also be involved in interaction with expert. Please Beware and avoid involving any close relative or parents in this interaction because close relative from any-side will further complicate the matter because they may take sides. This is crisis situation because you appear frustrated. So move on quickly if you are looking for quality relationship with husband. You may contact me as well for interaction either in person or online via this website. All the best, Take care.

I get fatty stomach day by day. How to manage this problem.
I have also some allergy problem. Please consult me.
You need to have a diet and exercise plan based on your bmi, age & weight and sex, presence of any diseases. Comprehensive exercise& diet plan based on whether vegetarian /non vegetarian can be given if you ask privately. May also need to do some tests. In brief, weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs etc. To burn off fat. Some tips 1) drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take 1/4 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity.

feed the baby from day one. make a rule of no bottle as babies used to bottle just after delivery never make an effort to suckle and suckling reflex releases milk in mother. there can be no excuse about milk flow being insufficient. don't eat more fats.,enough carbs and lots of simple proteins you are 70 kgs and just after delivery, you will lose about 5 kgs. feeding the baby, doing baby jobs will help you reduce more. no heavy exercises for at least six weeks after delivery

7 Vegetarian Ways to Get Omega-3

M.Sc. in Dietetics and Food Service Management , Post Graduate Diploma In Computer Application, P.G.Diploma in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics , B.Sc.Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
7 Vegetarian Ways to Get Omega-3

Omega-3 fatty acids are extremely beneficial in preventing inflammation in your body and provide significant health benefits. It is important to get a proper source of omega-3 because our bodies do not produce them naturally. Hence, we are dependent on supplements and pills to help provide the necessary amount of omega-3 required.

Unfortunately, fish is considered to be the best source for omega-3 fatty acids making it difficult for vegetarians and people who don’t have a preference for fish to obtain omega-3. There are other ways to include omega-3 in your daily diet, apart from fish, to help your body get the right amount.

1. Soybeans

Soybeans provide consistent means of getting omega 3 vitamins, as compared to marine life. Since the supply of fish is highly unreliable, it is essential to obtain omega 3 vitamins through a consistent land based means. Soybeans is easier to obtain and grow and has a higher shelf life than fish.

2. Spinach

Spinach is one of the most healthiest vegetables to consume, containing high source of protein and fiber. Spinach also has omega 3 vitamins which provide a good alternative for vegetarians. One cup of cooked spinach contains 371mg of omega 3 fatty acids. No wonder spinach is ranked at the top of the world’s healthiest edible items.

3. Walnuts

We have already written about the benefits of walnuts when it comes to dieting and leading a healthy lifestyle. But did you know walnuts also have high omega 3 content? not only do they provide energy because of their high caloric content and keep you feeling full, walnuts provide an alternative means to get omega 3 vitamins if you are feeling a little lazy to cook.

4. Flax seeds

Flax seeds are a convenient way to get omega 3 and could be consumed in different ways. Although flax seeds contain only one member of the omega 3 fatty acids, alpha-linolenic acid, it has the highest amount of omega 3 found in all edible items apart from fish. Flax seeds can be included in pretty much any dish and make it a high source of omega 3 vitamins.

5. Wild rice

Wild rice is a good substitute for white or brown rice because it contains more antioxidents and is also gluten-free. It has high omega 3 content and is also a much healthier substitute to white rice. Although wild rice is not as readily available as white or brown rice, because of its high nutritional value, it is recommended to include it as part of a healthy lifestyle.

6. Basil

Surprisingly, basil is one of the many herbs found to have high source of omega-3. It also has several significant health benefits because of the anti-oxidants present in them. The anti-oxidants helps in preventing aging by helping your body fight against oxidative stress

7. Kidney beans

Kidney beans are a great addition to any dish providing it with unique flavour and texture. Although it doesn’t compare to fish in omega-3 content, it provides adequate amount to help your health significantly. It also is a great source of fiber, which helps prevent any digestive problems. Include kidney beans in your diet.

Whether peanut should be avoided in diabetic patients. If not how much one can eat in one day.

Whether peanut should be avoided in diabetic patients. If not how much one can eat in one day.
Peanut is good source of protein. You can eat roasted peanut, avoid deep fried or salted peanuts. You can consume about a little less than handful of peanuts/day. Eating too many peanuts will make you fat and increase your cholesterol level. Hope this has helped you. Thank you
