Dear lybrate-user Thank you for connecting on this platform. Clonazepam is an SOS medicine after stability of transitory high intensity symptoms. And no, withdrawal does not cause death. My statement of No would act as temporary reassurance to you because Health anxiety is basically catastrophizing the least probable as most probable situation which requires mild medicine dosage but effective psychotherapy sessions. I hope you doing that, if not please get in touch with us and would be glad to connect you to someone or take you on board in video consultations as I infer you residing in Chennai. I do video consultations for patients there too. Hope you find it useful.

My son age is 37 years he is addicted for alcohol what should i do to get rid his habit ?
Dear Lybrate user, Welcome to Lybrate. Alcohol addiction also comes under abuse and addiction. The best method is always using your will power to quit substance abuse. If you’re ready to stop the substance and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from addiction and abuse —no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn’t easy. But it’s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of addiction. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan. Take care.

My wife aged 43 years is taking her depression treatment of Tab. PaxidepCR 12.5 mg OD and Tab. Tab. Sulpitac 50 mg since May 2007. She is also a patient of Schizophrenia and now she is stable with the treatment. Will she take this treatment for life long or other wise?

(MRCPSYCH-UK), MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Hyderabad
As of today, treatment for some forms of schizophrenia is life long. Since 2007, she is suffering from schizophrenia. So in all respects, she may have to take the medicines for life. Some intelligent doctor like me said the same for cancer and AIDS. But research has caught up and now we have treatment for both cancers and AIDS. So in all likelihood, there will be a permanent cure for schizophrenia.

Hello doctor, Am married but its my 2nd marriage. I don’t have any family support. Now am 8 months pregnant. I and my husband crossed many problems in life. But we stabilised every problem. Suddenly I found my husband mind get diversion towards his old college mate. I already warned him that his mind diversion is not good. But he didn’t listen what I said. My husband has 9 year old girl child from his first wife. So he has to take care of that child too. I guess he feel tired of taking care of us. He is gong behind his girl friend. Early, she sent seduced videos and messages. His girl friend has 2 female kids. She is living in abroad. She came here last month. My husband went to her place and they both met each other. They tried to do physical contact. But situations didn’t allow them to go any privacy place. I and my husband had severe fight and argument. I come to know he want to leave us and he want to marry her. But that girl not ready to marry him. Because she is too rich. She is not ready to take risk in her children life. But definitely my husband cannot give good life to her. She knows all trues from our end. She need good companion to share her feelings. She was his ex lover. Past 2.5 months my family life spoiled. I could’t complain to anyone. If I do anything he ll do worse. Its very easy to get separate. Now problem is she don’t need him. Because he is trying to get her in his life which is not possible. I don’t know how to recover him from his illogic wish. Now his mind full of her thoughts. Always he is chatting and speaking. He is begging her for life. I don’t know how he is taking this kind of decisions and escaping from reality. Last week he told, he has to go sabari malai. I don’t know its true or not. 2 days back he told, he wants to stay with his friend home. Also he told he ll get back here 2 days. May be he ll come today or this week end. But as per his statement he told, after get salary he has to go to his native and do some procedures to go sabari malai. Also he told, he can not stay here for 1.5 months. I seriously could’t believe his any of things right now. I seriously have many doubts whether he want to stay away from me or really he is going to sabari malai I don’t know. Do ctor please advice me how to handle this. What is his mindset right now? How to recover him from this? I need my life back. Am nearing to my delivery. January last week my due date. Dear Sasi , Thanks for the query, please Don't take any type of stress at this point,it will be harmful for you and baby.talk with your husband with cool mind and ask his opinion.its time that you must consider for any step, involve your in laws and your family in this matter if things will go like this it will create problem in your married life.As you have said there are strong chances that may be for some time he may live with her but this is doubtful whether this will last longer.upto your delivery ask from your inlaws side to come and live there upto your delivery if possible. May be in there pressure he may not go somewhere with her.but its very important that he should away from her.take care.

I have been living a low life and think I am in depression. Most of the time I keep myself busy with masturbation. My penis isn't that sensitive now. I tend to have a lot of mood swings as well and my taste changes frequently. How to confirm whether I am in depression or I have a bipolar?

You have depression and need antidepressants. If you feel depressed, it's best to do something about it — depression doesn't just go away on its own. In addition to getting help from a doctor or therapist, here are 5 things you can do to feel better. 1.Exercise. Take a 15- to 30-minute brisk walk every day — or dance, jog, or bike if you prefer. People who are depressed may not feel much like being active. In addition to getting aerobic exercise, some yoga poses can help relieve feelings of depression. Two other aspects of yoga — breathing exercises and meditation — can also help people with depression feel better. 2.Nurture yourself with good nutrition. Depression can affect appetite. One person may not feel like eating at all, but another might overeat. Proper nutrition can influence a person's mood and energy. So eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and get regular meals (even if you don't feel hungry, try to eat something light, like a piece of fruit, to keep you going). 3.Identify troubles, but don't dwell on them. Try to identify any situations that have contributed to your depression. When you know what's got you feeling blue and why, talk about it with a caring friend. Talking is a way to release the feelings and to receive some understanding. 4. Express yourself. With depression, a person's creativity and sense of fun may seem blocked. Exercise your imagination (painting, drawing, doodling, sewing, writing, dancing, composing music, etc.) and you not only get those creative juices flowing, you also loosen up some positive emotions. Take time to play with a friend or a pet, or do something fun for yourself. Find something to laugh about — a funny movie, perhaps. Laughter helps lighten your mood. 5. Try to notice good things. Depression affects a person's thoughts, making everything seem dismal, negative, and hopeless. If depression has you noticing only the negative, make an effort to notice the good things in life. Try to notice one thing, then try to think of one more. Consider your strengths, gifts, or blessings. Most of all, don't forget to be patient with yourself. Depression takes time to heal.
