Sir I am suffering from Seizures, sir can you tell me about this and suffering from last 5yrs, please sir.

MBBS,J.R. Neurology
General Physician,
Suffering from seizures for the past 5 years makes you an epilepsy patient. The causes can be numerous, starting from infection to local lesions. It is mandatory that you get yourself diagnosed properly for the underlying cause and strictly follow the antiepileptic medications that have been prescribed to you. Patients do recover completely and can live a normal life without depending on drugs. Seizures are indeed a cause for concern as it can be life threatening at times. Sometimes there are triggering factors that induce seizures. So I would advise you to look for such factors and avoid them. Consult a neurologist if you haven't. Take care.

Migraine Vs. Headache - Major Differences You Need To Know!

How to differentiate between a migraine and headache?

When you feel pain or pressure in your head, it may become difficult for you to assess whether you are experiencing a common headache or a migraine. Let's understand how different they are from each other. A typical headache usually affects both sides of your head and varies from a mild to moderate pain. It can last from 30 minutes to up to a period of one week.

Some specific areas which get affected by a headache are:

  • Temples
  • Forehead
  • Back of your neck

Factors that trigger this headache type are a muscle strain, stress or anxiety.

A migraine, on the other hand, is also a type of a headache which results in an acute throbbing sensation in one part of your head. Usually, migraine headaches are highly painful. Migraine pain makes it difficult for a person to carry out his/her daily tasks. Symptoms or signs associated with migraine attacks are:

  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Sensitivity to sound or light
  • Pain in the temples
  • Temporary loss of vision
  • Pain behind your ear or eye

What are the common causes of a migraine?

  1. Hormonal imbalances in women - fluctuations in oestrogen, especially during menopause or pregnancy seem to trigger a migraine
  2. Drinks like wine and extremely caffeinated beverages
  3. Foods such as salty foods, aged cheese as well as processed foods can trigger the migraine attack.
  4. Medications - vasodilators such as nitroglycerine and oral contraceptives can intensify migraine pain.

How to treat a headache?

Fortunately, you can get rid of stress-induced headaches through over-the-counter treatments, which include:

How to treat a migraine?

If you experience migraine attacks less frequently, these medicines may give you quick relief:

Some preventive tips:

  • Make changes in your diet such as avoid such foods, including caffeine and alcohol which are believed to trigger headaches.
  • You can also try muscle relaxation exercises, yoga or meditation to ease the migraine attack.

Pcod does not has symptoms of white discharge, it is usually due to infection of genital tract. Maintain proper hygiene. Visit to gynaecologist if it is troublesome.

Hello Dear, Headache is caused mainly due to the changes in blood flow in the arteries and veins. There are so many theories but still it is mainly due to dilated blood vessels. Have you done any investiagtions as you are having for a long time? When the pain is present in one side it is generally migraine. Migriane has other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, dizziness, aura, dullness, restlessness. You can take Varunadi Kasayam - 10 ml with 40 ml of warm water, Cephagraine tablets, Anu thailam, Balahatadi thailam for head, Zandu balm to apply in the forehead. Eat healthy food with vegetables and fruits. Find out the triggers and avoid it like cheese, wine, onion, dairy, chicken, caffeine, pickles or fermented foods. Reduce fried fatty foods. Avoid sleeping too much, crying, skipping meals. Sleep well and relax. Exercise regularly.

I am unable to sleep back from 3 days properly and also I have a migraine problem to from past year.

Physiotherapy Management:You can take Ultrasonic therapy in one of the nearby physiotherapy clinics which would help to heal the damaged cartilages along with shortwave diathermy which would help to improve the blood circulation.
