Use virgin coconut oil as a lip balm during the day. Apply a tiny amount and spread it out with your fingertip. Apply coconut oil before going to bed as well.Coconut oil contains essential fatty acids that keep your lips healthy and hydrated. Replenished lips will be soft and pink. Mix the lemon juice and honey to make your tan removing lip serum. Coat your lips with this serum and leave for an hour before wiping off with a soft, wet cloth. This is the perfect dark lips treatment that you can do at home. The citrus extracts from the lemon juice remove the tan and honey nourishes the lips to make them pink. This serum can be refrigerated and used for a week.

I am feeling very tired and feel very sleepy all the time. Can you help me to get rid from this problem.

MBBS
General Physician, Trivandrum
I am feeling very tired and feel very sleepy all the time. Can you help me to get rid from this problem.
Follow these simple steps to ensure a good sleep every night and stay away from sleep disorders and other health problems associated with unhealthy sleep habits: 1) maintain a regular sleep routine go to bed at the same time. Wake up at the same time. Ideally, your schedule will remain the same (+/- 20 minutes) every night of the week. A good sleep hygiene routine promotes healthy sleep and daytime alertness. 2) avoid sleeping during the daytime. It can disturb the normal pattern. 3) avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol near bedtime. While alcohol may speed the onset of sleep, it creates problems in he second half of sleep. 4) exercise can promote good sleep. Exercise should be taken in the morning or late afternoon. Yoga, can be done before bed to help. 5) have a quiet, comfortable bedroom. Set your bedroom thermostat at a comfortable temperature. Generally, a little cooler is better than a little warmer. Turn off the tv and other extraneous noise that may disrupt sleep. Background'white noise' like a fan is ok. If your pets awaken you, keep them outside the bedroom. Your bedroom should be dark. Turn off bright lights. Have a comfortable mattress. 6) avoid heavy meals close to bedtime. 7) ensure adequate exposure to natural light. 8) avoid emotionally upsetting conversations and activities before trying to go to sleep. Do not think of, or bring your problems to bed. 9) stop using all your digital devices and stop looking at digital screens be it mobile phones or televisions at least 1 hour before the time you plan to sleep. Instead try reading a fiction book near bedtime so it makes you help relaxed and de-stressed. Sleep well live healthy and live longer. If you have tried all these and still have problems, please consult me for prescription medication.

Post Pregnancy Diet: 4 Best Foods For You!

Diet is an important part of any person's life as food that goes in your body is what replenishes the resources lost in a day's work. The wrong kind of food will have adverse effects on the body in all sorts of ways, and that holds especially true for nursing mothers.

A mother, after carrying a baby to a full term, has to go through many hormonal and physical changes, which can be very stressful. After childbirth comes one of the other most important phases i.e. nursing and it is important to ensure that the mother gets proper nutrition during this phase. This is because it is the mother's milk that provides the baby with the required nutrients for growth as well as to build and immune system, which is why it is very important for a nursing mother to have a proper diet.

Let's look at some of the food items that should be consumed during this time:

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables - These are important during the nursing period for the mother as she needs to supplement important minerals in her body such as calcium and iron. Green, leafy vegetables are a must.
  • Dairy products low in fat - As the mother's body produces milk, certain minerals get drained quicker than others and a direct supplement for them would be dairy products. However, it is important to ensure that their fat content is low as this can add cholesterol and thus, may adversely affect the health of the mother.
  • Lean meats - Lean meats are a great source of protein that can supplement many of the minerals and nutrients. However, rich meat-based foods and heavy red meat should be avoided. Chicken in roasted form or tikka form is also healthy proteins that can be consumed 2 - 3 times a week. Fish, especially Salmon fish, is also a healthy and rich source of omega-3 as well as high in protein.
  • Legumes - Legumes are a great source of iron, which is an extremely important mineral for a nursing mother. This is also an alternative for vegetarians. Legumes are not only a rich source of iron, they are also high in protein and helps the mother to stay fit and energetic to be able to take on the additional responsibility of her new-born baby. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dietitian/Nutritionist.

Does lactocalamine can be applied on face instead of moisturizer or sunscreen? Thanks.

Does lactocalamine can be applied on face instead of moisturizer or sunscreen? Thanks.
Lacto Calamine is a daily nourishing formula which is enriched with the power of Kaolin and Aloe Vera making it very effective for dry skin. It moisturizes skin layers and keeps the skin hydrated. Whereas, Lacto Calamine oil control formula is effective for oily skin. It has the power of kaolin and glycerin. It controls the oil production of sebaceous glands and gives a matte look. So, if you have medium to oily skin, then oil control formula would be the best choice. Due to the presence of kaolin, it is deeply absorbed in the skin. It works as a light foundation and gives proper coverage to the uneven skin areas. You can use it as a foundation in daily routine. Lacto Calamine improves skin appearance. After the first application, you will feel your skin is visibly more fresh and smooth than before. Calamine contains zinc oxide, which provides protection against sunlight and UV rays. It cures sunburns and helps in skin rejuvenation. So you can use it as a sunblock as well. Zinc Carbonate in the lotion works as an astringent. Zinc Carbonate combats the germs and bacteria which causes acne, breakouts, and skin allergies. It also shrinks open pores to control excessive oil production from the skin. Aloe Vera and glycerin in the lotion helps in removing the dead skin layers. Lacto calamine helps in exfoliation and rejuvenation process. You can also try Lacto Calamine on your feet after giving them a nice foot bath. Lacto calamine daily nourishing formula helps in restoring the natural moisture level in the skin. It prevents the skin from damage, and fine lines caused due to lack of moisture.

Limit the amount of white bread, sugar, meat, junk food and milk products (cheese, milk, butter, cream.) and increasing fresh fruits, veggies, water and fiber (beans, oats,) also yogurt really helps due to the probiotics. Maybe you could do a food diary for a period, eliminate a couple of items at a time and build up until you have added enough other of good items to make the stools loose. Oatmeal helps out tremendously. Figure out the diet and once you've added enough good things, slowly pull back on the laxatives and pay attention as you go. This could be a food allergy, do some research, usually its lactose (dairy), nuts, sugar, food coloring, preservatives. Try to avoid boxed and processed foods which have more preservatives, calories, fat, high carb. I hope some of this helps. In the mean time try (biochemic) biocombination numb 4 requires detailed questioning so as to ascertain your personality and to treat you symptomatically. Treatment is available, safe and without side effects in biochemic system of medication. Consult me in private.
