I'm 17 years now and 11 weeks back I had arthroscopic acl reconstruction using arthrex tight rope and abs button. I've been jogging, cycling and a free more exercises. Could you give me a schedule for what exercises I am allowed to do now and what can I add as time passes. I also play football.

It's good that you're following your doctor's advise on exercises regimen as it is 11 weeks old to strengthen your knee muscles you can walk inside the water pool till your waist level to and fro and zig zag walking and free exercises of flexion and extension exercises on advice of your surgeon operated for about 20 min in alternative days best wishes.

Hi lybrate-user, You may have been suffering from shin pain. Your calf and hams muscle must be tight. You should consult with physiotherapist for your pain. Use cold pack at least thrice a day. Stretch your tight muscles. Check your foot wear for flat foot.

Doctor my age is 48yrs, male & married. Please suggest me, I am having lower back pain for the last 15 days also on my right shoulder. I am not doing any heavy lifting work neither on running job. Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned back pain and shoulder pain as your main problems but your duration is since 15 days. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine, tab diclofenac or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray like dynapar qps spray for local application can be used after ice fomentation and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Kindly do not take any pain killers. Go slow as much as your body allows and the most important thing is do not give up. Do regular warm up and stretching before you start weights. Have high protein diet. Its always a bit tough in initial days as body tries to reject what it is not used to :).cheers.

I have problem in my both legs knees. If I bend both the knees for 20 to 30 minutes then both the knees start pains.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hello, first of all you should know what is backache and by which factors it caused and aggravated. The usual cause of low back pain is the sedentary lifestyle that we lead these days. There is hardly any movement. walking, running and cycling like activities are also not a part of our daily routine. To add to it, our diet consists more and more of junk food. Fresh fruits, vegetables and high fibre foods are consumed less and less. These daily practices lead to obesity. The increased body weight puts lot of pressure on the spine which has to bear all the extra unwanted weight. The back muscles which are already weak due to lack of exercise and wrong posture are unable to cope with this increased load. This causes pain in the back muscles. Management for Back Pain:-Along with medicines for relieving pain, one needs to identify the cause and correct it. This may require some medicines or some correction in your posture or reducing weight or improving your lifestyle. At the same time, there is a need to work on the local muscle strengthening. Back muscles need to be strengthened so that they can bear the weight of the upper body. For this exercises of the back muscles are very helpful. Regular walking is also very helpful as it is a wholesome exercise of the body, improves blood circulation and helps lose weight. Most importantly if you are overweight then losing weight is an important part of the whole treatment plan .Long term use of painkillers for low back pain is harmful Treatment for back pain:- Homeopathic medicines are very helpful. They not only treat the acute stages but are also used for the treatment of chronic back pain.Selection of the exact remedy depends upon the individual symptoms of the person.So share the complete symptom picture for the proper treament. I have pain on the upper and below knee joint and not at the knee joint. This pain is only experienced during sitting down and rising up from the floor when we need to bend our knee below 90 degrees. If I apply some ointment recommended by my doctor, I feel relaxed for few hours but again it comes back. Can you let me know if it is related to knee joint or is it muscles related and what is the remedy to permanently get relief of this pain.

According your age put a towel roll under knee and press for 10 sec then release repeat 10 time do thrice a day and tens therapy and ultrasonic therapy for muscle relaxation x-ray must bilateral knee for further preventions.

Here are some tips for how to handle your back pain: -stop normal physical activity for the first few days. This will help relieve your symptoms and reduce any swelling in the area of the pain. -apply heat or ice to the painful area. One good method is to use ice for the first 48 to 72 hours, and then use heat. Take pain relievers medicine. --while sleeping, try lying in a curled-up, fetal position with a pillow between your legs. If you usually sleep on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees to relieve pressure. -do not perform activities that involve heavy lifting or twisting of your back for the first 6 weeks after the pain begins. -avoid bending forward and sitting in a place for long time -stretching and strengthening exercises are important. But, starting these exercises too soon after an injury can make your pain worse. -some physiotherapy treatment like ift can give you some relief. -a physical therapist can tell you when to begin stretching and strengthening exercises and how to do them. My legs paining a lot why? I don't understand it's like I have climb a mountain. Un bearable pain. What should I do? my age 63. I dont have sugar, bp, or other problem. I have little beat indigestation, constipation prob. Thats it.

Actually pain at calf/Leg region can be due to many reasons , commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to Tendons, Nerves, Blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be : - Ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - Take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - Stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - Intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - Slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - We will get some blood tests for you - Serum Vitamin D and serum Potassium levels, ESR and CRP Once you have all these reports then you can contact me as i can advise you for proper supplementation Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. I have no knowledge of Panchakarma. This is quite a common condition Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency. Sleep on a hard bed with a soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way Take CALDIKIND PLUS 1 tab daily for 10days Paracetamol 250mg TDS x 3 days Contact me after that. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. It may have to be further investigated.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. \navoid bending in front. \npostural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana? lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a da.

Hi Lybrate user Apply diclofenac gel in painful area after 3 - 5 min, keep hot pack 10 minutes thrice a day. Do some mild ex's, because ex's also relief pain. Ex's like Straight leg raise, Cat and camel ex's, pelvic bridging, stretching. Thank you.

Dear lybrate-user maybe you have pulled some muscle which is giving pain when you are upright and relieved when lying down as the muscle is at rest and not stretched. Apply ice for 20 minutes every hourly for 2-3 days. The healing process is about 2-3 week if not relieved please get evaluated by a good orthopedic surgeon.
