I've recently had intercourse 1 month ago & since that day I have weird bad smelling discharge & a bit of itching. I wake up sometimes to back, stomach, rib pain but it's sometimes. Can it be Yeast infection, BV, STD, or HIV?

Yes you are correct it could be vaginal infection it can be candidiasis or bacterial vaginosis you should treat it.

With the pollution levels soaring in the city, each one of us is at risk of acquiring health problems. But can some of us are more at risk than others? Yes, indeed! Those of us, who have A, B and AB blood types are more at risk of getting a heart attack than the O blood type as per a report submitted by the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions 2017.

Presently, in India, the percentage of people who have O blood type is 37.12%, which is higher than the percentage of A, B and AB type. The percentage for A, B and AB type is 22.88%, 32.26% and 7.74% respectively.

So, what should you do to prevent yourself from high risk of heart attack due to pollution

  1. Stay indoors

  2. Wear a mask when you step out

  3. Shift your exercise routine from outdoor to indoor

  4. Keep yourself hydrated

  5. Consult your doctor for potential risks

Sir/madam My fat has skipped for more than 2 months, had a pregnancy pad test and found conformed. We go through a ultra sound scan test last week, in that we found our gestational sac is irregular shape and heart by not yet started at 6w1d. And today I got bleeding as like period. Is this sign of abort please explain me.

Hello! yeah it's not a good sign. It means pregnancy is trying to abort. Take rest. Avoid relations. And you'll need medicines and inj to support this pregnancy. For that consult a gynaecologist. Also repeat USG after 10 days.

I am 27 years old. My son is in the end of the 7th month now. He usually sucks milk only from right breast not at all on my left. So milk production is very less at my left side. Now I am not feeding On from my left, I feed only on the right side. Will this create any health issues to me? What I have to do now?

Milk production in your left breast will stop ultimately if the child is not suckling from it you should encourage him and put him on it again otherwise later on their can be some difference in the size of both breasts

For infection doctor given me the AF- kit, itraconazole gel 1.0%w/w and clindamycin phosphate and clotrimazole soft gelatin vaginal capsules is given to follow, capsules and AF-kit course completed then also there is no stopping of white bleeding but no itching what can I do.

your age and marital status is not given, if married the treatment need to be taken by your husband also or else avoid intercourse. if no itching means infection is contained. depending on the need some of the medicines need to be taken for some more days. maintain perfect cleanliness of the genitals and keep them dry by wiping with cloth even after passing urine. good luck

Pause The Menopause Syndrome With Ayurveda!

Menopause is the stage in a woman’s life when the menstrual cycle stops. When a woman is not menstruating for twelve consecutive months, then she has entered into the phase of menopause. Menses is called as Raja in Ayurveda. For this reason, the stoppage of the menses flow permanently, i.e. menopause is called as Raja Nivrutti, which literally means retirement of menses. According to Ayurveda, this is not a disease; rather it is a natural process in a woman’s life that occurs at the age of 45-55 years. 

With aging, out of three Doshas, Vata dosh increases significantly with considerable decline in pitta and kapha dosha, so menopausal symptoms occurring due to the vitiation of mainly Vata dosha. Every woman is born with definite number of oocytes (ovarian reserve). The natural depletion of the reserve and aging of ovaries cause decrease in feminine hormones and hence menopause occurs.

Premature ovarian Failure:

Premature ovarian failure (POF) is the cessation of the ovarian function before the age of 40 year. It is confirmed by high blood levels of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH).

Causes of premature ovarian failure

  • Unknown cause

  • Autoimmune disorders, 

  • Thyroid disease

  • Women who have a functional disorder affecting the reproductive system (e.g., endometriosispolycystic ovary syndrome, cancer of the reproductive organs) can go into menopause at a younger age.

  • Cigarette smoking

  • Higher body mass index

  • Racial and ethnic factors

  • Illnesses

Surgical Menopause

 Stoppage of menses as a result of removal of the ovaries is called "surgical menopause".

Symptoms of Menopausal Syndrome

Gynaecological

  • Mood swings

  • Dry skin or mucous membranes (including the vagina)

  • Scanty bleeding during perimenopause

  • Heavy bleeding during perimenopause

  • Irregular bleeding

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Painful Intercourse

Physical

Psychological

  • Irritability

  • Anxiety. worry, fear

  • Reduced libido

  • Anger, irritation, jealousy, criticism, competitiveness

  • Depression, sadness, greed

  • Decreased concentration due to dullness

An Ayurvedic approach for managing Menopause:

Ayurvedic Management consist of mainly Rasayana (rejuvenation) therapy, Specific dietary guidelines, Lifestyle modification, Medicinal supplements, Panchakarma (detoxification) and Yoga.

Rasayana (rejuvenation) therapy: It is an Important therapy for this period which leads to an overall improvement in the formation and maintenance of the living tissues and helps in the prevention of aging, improving resistance against diseases, bodily strength and mental health.

It can be done in 4 ways :

  • Achar rasayan (lifestyle modification)

  • Ahar Rasayan (Diet Modification)

  • Dravya Rasayan (Medicine)

  • Panchakarma.

Lifestyle modification (Achar Rasayana): According to Ayurveda, by following Dinacharya, Ritucharya and Ratricharya aging process can be delayed and symptoms related to menopause can be minimized. Exercise should be inevitable part of lifestyle.

Yoga and Pranayama for specific condition like backache/ knee pain/ stress/ obesity should be learned from an experienced teacher and should be followed REGULARLY.

Dietary Guidelines:

Diet can be a crucial tool in menopause management.

If you are prone to Pitta-based problems, such as hot flashes or excessive irritability, follow a Pitta-pacifying diet: avoid foods that are spicy, such as chilies, black mustard seed. Salty foods and sour foods such as ketchup,chips etc.

Favor foods that are bitter, astringent and sweet, as these are cooling to Pitta dosha. Bitter and astringent foods include most vegetables. Sweet foods include rice, milk and Ghee pacify Pitta dosha. Cook with Pitta-reducing spices, such as cinnamon, coriander, cardamom,  and small amounts of cumin seed.

If you experience Vata-related symptoms of menopause such as bloating or vaginal dryness, then eat foods that are sweet, sour and salty as this balances Vata dosha. Avoid Processed sweet food as cakes Pastries, tetrapack juices and processed salty food like chips and biscuits

Apana Vata, which governs the genitourinary tract, elimination, and menstruation, is a key area to attend to when preparing for menopause. Drink plenty of warm water throughout the day. For both Pitta and Vata imbalances Milk and Ghee plays important role.

It is also important to keep your digestion strong and free of ama(Prduct of indigestion). Avoid eating foods that are packaged, processed, frozen, canned or left over. Eat organic foods that are cooked fresh. Your diet should consist of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and legumes Avoid heavy foods such as meat, cheese and ice cream and curd especially at night.

Medicinal Suppliments:

Shatavari, Ashwagandha, Chandrashur, Shankhkpushpi, Bala, Ardrak, Shatapushpa , Black grams etc can be taken under proper guidance

Panchkarma Therapies:

Basti:

  • As menopausal period is under influence of Vata dosha and Mainly Apan Vayu, Basti is the best treatment for vitiated Apan vayu and eventually for disturbed menstrual cycle or heavy bleeding.

  • Depending upon body constitution and severity of symptom Vaidya can advise Basti treatment.

  • Basti can also be helpful in the gynecological conditions like painful menses and heavy bleeding.

  • Intrauterine instillation (Uttarbasti) of sterile medicine (oil or Ghee) is helpful in heavy bleeding.

  • Panchtikta KshirBasti is also helpful in the condition of osteoporosis.

  • Local Treatments Like Janubasti, Manyabasti and Katibasti (Holding Oil over Knee, neck and back respectively) for Knee, neck and back pain are also helpful.

  • Recurrent vaginitis, dryness or inflammatory conditions in Pap’s smear can be treated by local irrigation of lukewarm herbal decoctions (Yoni Prakshalan) and keeping oil soaked tampoon in vagina is also helpful in the conditions of vaginal dryness, cervicitis and first degree uterine prolapse.

Shirodhara:

  • Shirodhara is continuous pouring of lukewarm oil or decoction or milk or buttermilk on forehead (in between both eyebrows).

  • Medicine to be used can be decided upon the symptoms.

  • This procedure helps to reduce stress, sleeplessness, anxiety, irritability, hypertension, hair problems etc.

  • It relaxes body and mind as well.

Abhyang:

  • Abhyang and Swedan (whole body massage and steam) are one of the traditional measures to relieve stress.

  • This procedure helps to get rid of vitiated vata and hence we get pain relief and relaxation.

  • According to Ayurveda we should practice Abhyang routinely on head, ear and foot/sole.

  • Oletion by medicinal leaves pack (Patra Pind Swedan) is also helpful in knee/back/neck pain.

Hi doctor fastfall my english is not good please trying to understand. I am 19+ years old. And my husband 34 years old. We r trying to conceive 8 month but not result my ob/gyn doctor every month after month give me supreme 50 mg, fertyl 50 mg, ccq 50 mg, and this months he give me this ccq 50 mg tablet with ferpill f. But still again is negative. before taking any fertyl tablets my period is irregular but now after taking fertyl tablets now my cycle length is 32-35. And every every during period I was heavy cramp in left lower abdomen. My doctor is right way to me? He was right medicine give to me? And my husband done a semen test he is all right thigh doctor for give me valuable time. I am waiting for your answer. thanks doctor have a nice day.

Hello Lybrate user keep patience for treatment. Don't worry. You should try during ovulation period which is from 11th to 18th day of menses for next 8 months more. Avoid tension and stress. Eat healthy and nutritious diet. You will conceive soon. If,problem remain same then get AMH, FSH,LH, estrogen,progesterone and ultrasound of lower abdomen done first. Then consult Doctor personally. All the best for future.

Hello, general measures to control pcod 1. Drink plenty of water: drink at least 2 litres of water per day. 2. Exercise: regular exercise will not only help you reduce weight, but will help lessen binge eating. 3. Free your life of stress: whether it is to fulfil your motherly instincts, regaining your feminine charm, or improving your general health and well-being, progression of pcod is something that needs to be checked sooner than later. These tips on diet should help you. 4. Diet include whole wheat products whole grain / whole wheat bread wholegrain / whole wheat pasta barley, natural diuretic fruits oats, corn raw fruits and vegetables fresh fish lean meats protein shakes avoid: refined flour products / maida white bread white pasta fast foods cakes, cookies, sweets, chocolates high fructose corn syrup soft drinks and soda bengali mithai, sweets, desserts.
