Hello, Thyroid test should have been done before getting pregnant, According to American Thyroid Association ideally TSH levels should be below 2 mU/L before getting pregnant. During pregnancy levels should be maintained as follows: 1st trimester 0.1 to 2 mU/L, 2nd Trimester 0.3 to 3 mU/L & 3rd 0.3 to 3.1 mU/L. This is absolutely essential because fetal development is affected if the level is higher. The current level is very high. Your gynecologist should have mentioned this to in her briefing. Anyway, if you are not on thyroxine, please start treatment right away. Thanks.

U can feel baby movements around 16 weeks pregnancy. It varies from patient to patient. Yes, if the cervix is short, you might need to get a cervical encirclage. This will ensure that you do not have a miscarriage. Please get a good ultrasound report to ensure that you have a short or dilated cervix.

Hello, PCOS or pcod s a problem in which a woman's hormones are out of balance. It can cause problems with your periods and make it difficult to get pregnant. PCOS also may cause unwanted changes in the way you look. If it isn't treated, over time it can lead to serious health problems, such as diabetes and heart disease. The most common symptoms are: Acne.Weight gain and trouble losing weight.Extra hair on the face and body.Thinning hair or even hair loss on scalp.Irregular periods. Often women with PCOS have fewer than nine periods a year. Some women have no periods. Others have very heavy bleeding.Fertility problems. Many women who have PCOS have trouble getting pregnant(infertility), depression. Regular exercise, healthy foods, and weight control are the key treatments for PCOS. Treatment (hormonal) can reduce unpleasant symptoms and help prevent long-term health problems. Try to fit in moderate activity and/or vigorous activity often. Brisk Walking, jogging, dance or aerobics are great exercise that most people can do.Eat heart-healthy foods. This includes lots of vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, and whole grains. It limits foods that are high insaturated fat, such as meats, cheeses, and fried foods. Most women who have PCOS can benefit from losing weight. Even losing 5kg may help get your hormones in balance, regulate your menstrual cycle and can make you ovulate.

6 Pregnancy Complications To Watch Out For!

MBBS, MD
Gynaecologist, Delhi
6 Pregnancy Complications To Watch Out For!

Pregnancy is considered to be one of the most challenging and important phases in the life of a woman.

Pregnancy Complications are health problems that occur during pregnancy. They can involve the mother’s health, the baby’s health, or both. Some women have health problems before they become pregnant that could lead to complications. Other problems arise during the pregnancy. Keep in mind that whether a complication is common or rare, there are ways to manage problems that come up during pregnancy.

Some complications that might occur during pregnancy are discussed below:

  1. Severe Nausea and Vomiting: It is common for nausea and vomiting to occur during a pregnancy. In order to avoid this condition, one should consume several small meals throughout the day and completely avoid spicy and fatty foods.
  2. A persistent abdominal pain, severe headache, swelling and visual disturbances during the third trimester: This can be a fatal condition and often is a sign of high blood preeclampsia (pregnancy complication involving high blood pressure as well as damage to another organ system). It can be diagnosed early using good prenatal care which essentially comprises of frequent check-ups with the doctor and all the necessary treatment during pregnancy.
  3. Flu Symptoms: It is recommended that flu vaccine should be administered to pregnant women as they usually tend to develop the disease during their pregnancy.
  4. Gestational Diabetes: Gestational diabetes can increase the chance of a larger baby at birth and create delivery complications, increase your risk for high blood pressure and cause the baby to have blood sugar problems after birth. If you are diagnosed, it’s important to consult your gynecologist to control your blood sugar level, which can often be done through diet and exercise.
  5. Baby’s activity level significantly declines: Sometimes, the activity of a previously active baby might decline. This can be felt by reducing the number of the kicks by the baby. The doctor has specific equipment that aids in identifying and resolving the problem.
  6. Bleeding: Heavy bleeding accompanied by abdominal pain and menstrual-type cramps during the first trimester might indicate an ectopic pregnancy (embryo is implanted outside one’s uterus) or a miscarriage while occurrence in the third semester indicates placental abruption (characterized by the placenta separating from the womb’s walls). Any form of bleeding warrants the immediate attention of the doctor. Steps to avoid bleeding include bed rest, avoiding heavy work, and keeping yourself hydrated.

A Healthy Pregnancy-

The best way to ensure a healthy pregnancy is to focus on the things you can control and don’t obsess about what could happen. Take good care of yourself and your developing baby and talk with a healthcare provider when you have concerns.

I am 24 year girl. Earlier. From vagina. The lubrication was normal. While making love. But from a month. There is a. Very little lubrication and also I'm not feeling enough sensation. So. What to do? Is it normal?

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
Hello- No its not normal. When a young woman has hormone issues, vaginal dryness will often follow. Arousal issues are another cause of vaginal dryness in young women. If your hormones are balanced, then you and your partner should incorporate some lubricants as part of your foreplay. There are a wide range of products on the market from herbal remedies to pharmaceutical pills and creams which profess to increase libido and lubrication. Certain products work better on certain people, so experiment with different products to find one that works best for you.

You have vaginal inflammation. This is due to infection. I advise you to do meditation for mental strength by doing slow and deep breathing relaxation exercises in the morning. Take proper balanced vegetarian diet. Drink lots of water and fluids. For better treatment, consult privately.

There is usually no need for add on iron in pregnancy or desferal injections for thalessemia minor/ intermediate patients. At worst baby may be only thalessemia minor if your husband is normal which is not a problem at all. Try to include all colors in your diet as in fruits and vegetables to have adequate supply of all essential elements and minerals.

Is this the first time, he is having this or it is a recurrent problem. If no the this does not require any specific treatment. If yes, then first he should get evaluated to rule out any problems with urinary tract ,kidneys & blood investigations to evaluate for any metabolic abnormalities.

Your girlfriend shouts while inserting penis in vagina. I advise you to do foreplay of 15 to 20 minutes first before going for sex. This will loose her vagina. Follow this and give feedback.

I'm 6 weeks pregnant, I want to know which make up brand is safe during pregnancy like lipstick n compacts.

MD Gynaecology, MBBS

I'm 6 weeks pregnant, I want to know which make up brand is safe during pregnancy like lipstick n compacts.
Generally I do not think any kind of make up would have any il effects on the pregnant woman or fetus. Most of these chemicals are absorbed to a very minimal amount in the blood so there should be hardly any chance of toxic effects.
