Hello, here are some tips to increase your weight, but most important is your confidence. Your looks don't define you, your talent does, so cheer up and go with the confidence for your interviews: ok so let's talk about weight gain, healthy weight gain: eat more often. Frequent meals. Min 6 meals in a day. Increase your protein intake. Have nuts, eggs, soyabean, soya paneer, cheese, milk. Don't drink water before meals. This can fill your stomach and can affect your appetite. Eat plenty of calories at each meal. In between you meals you can have nuts or milkshakes. Like banana milkshake, chikku milk shake. Get quality sleep. Heavy stress can also affect your weight gain. Avoid stress. Keep your body hydrated. Drink plenty of water. Try to avoid junk and fried foods. They can affect your metabolism and can cause you to gain fat instead of muscles.

10 tips to stay mentally healthy

10 tips to stay mentally healthy

1. Enjoying mental health means having a sense of well-being, being able to function during everyday life and feeling confident to rise to a challenge when the opportunity arises. Just like your physical health, there are actions you can take to increase your mental health. Boost your wellbeing and stay mentally healthy by following a few simple steps.
Connect with others. Develop and maintain strong relationships with people around you who will support and enrich your life. The quality of our personal relationships has a great effect on our wellbeing. Putting time and effort into building strong relationships can bring great rewards.

2. Take time to enjoy:

Set aside time for activities, hobbies and projects you enjoy. Let yourself be spontaneous and creative when the urge takes you. Do a crossword; take a walk in your local park; read a book; sew a quilt; draw pictures with your kids; play with your pets - whatever takes your fancy.

3. Participate and share interests:

Join a club or group of people who share your interests. Being part of a group of people with a common interest provides a sense of belonging and is good for your mental health. Join a sports club; a band; an evening walking group; a dance class; a theatre or choir group; a book or car club.

4. Contribute to your community:

Volunteer your time for a cause or issue that you care about. Help out a neighbour, work in a community garden or do something nice for a friend. There are many great ways to contribute that can help you feel good about yourself and your place in the world. An effort to improve the lives of others is sure to improve your life too.

5. Take care of yourself:

Be active and eat well - this help maintain a healthy body. Physical and mental health are closely linked; it's easier to feel good about life if your body feels good. You don't have to go to the gym to exercise - gardening, vacuuming, dancing and bushwalking all count. Combine physical activity with a balanced diet to nourish your body and mind and keep you feeling good, inside and out.

6. Challenge yourself:

Learn a new skill or take on a challenge to meet a goal. You could take on something different at work; commit to a fitness goal or learn to cook a new recipe. Learning improves your mental fitness while striving to meet your own goals builds skills and confidence and gives you a sense of progress and achievement.

7. Deal with stress:

Be aware of what triggers your stress and how you react. You may be able to avoid some of the triggers and learn to prepare for or manage others. Stress is a part of life and affects people in different ways. It only becomes a problem when it makes you feel uncomfortable or distressed. A balanced lifestyle can help you manage stress better. If you have trouble winding down, you may find that relaxation breathing, yoga or meditation can help.

8. Rest and refresh:

Get plenty of sleep. Go to bed at a regular time each day and practice good habits to get better sleep. Sleep restores both your mind and body. However, feelings of fatigue can still set in if you feel constantly rushed and overwhelmed when you are awake. Allow yourself some unfocused time each day to refresh; for example, let your mind wander, daydream or simply watch the clouds go by for a while. It's ok to add 'do nothing' to your to-do list!

9. Notice the here and now:

Take a moment to notice each of your senses each day. Simply 'be' at the moment - feel the sun and wind on your face and notice the air you are breathing. It's easy to be caught up thinking about the past or planning for the future instead of experiencing the present. Practising mindfulness, by focusing your attention on being at the moment, is a good way to do this. Making a conscious effort to be aware of your inner and outer world is important for your mental health.

10. Ask for help:

This can be as simple as asking a friend to babysit while you have some time out or speaking to your doctor (GP) about where to find a counsellor or community mental health service. The perfect, worry-free life does not exist. Everyone's life journey has bumpy bits and the people around you can help. If you don't get the help you need first off, keep asking until you do.

Hi Lybrate user thanks for the query through your concern I can feel your unconditional love for that girl. You love someone its really wonder feeling you should proud of yourself that you are loving someone unconditionally its her bad luck that she is loosing you .but you cannot force any one to love or for care ,if anyhow in any type of pressure someone came then it will be for short time only ,it can be for long time only if someone comes by realising your love and importance. Relation between lovers or any couple is like bicycle and couples are like their wheels when there will be balance then it will run smoothly and when there will be any type of disturbance in any wheel it will lead to disbalance in your what you can do is to talk clearly and if she says no then you must stop any type of contact with her because you will gain nothing and your life will be like hell. Try to divert your mind involve yourself in some other activity make some new friends. May be you are thinking that you can convince her but if there will be any chance then it can be only by giving some space in your relation. Take care.

Sir. I have a habit of cigarette. I puff at least 6 cigarettes in a day. please give me the suggestions to leave that one. Thanks.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Dear lybrate user, you may need a bit of willpower to stop smoking permanently. You could easily abstain yourself from smoking during the initial 2-3 days. But after few days of abstaining from smoking you will feel a strong craving to smoke a cigarette whenever you face any tense situation. Here lies your real test. You will need a lot of willpower to resist that craving & face any tense situation without the help of nicotine. However, you can take homoeopathic mother tincture daphne indica q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. This medicine will help to reduce your craving for nicotine. To minimise the bad-effects of smoking take one single bulb garlic everyday at morning before brushing your teeth.

Hello lybrate-user, this could be possible unwanted effect of the antidepressants and antipsychotics. Please contact your psychiatrist. Homeopathy is very effective in such cases. Please take lachesis 30 3 pills each at the intervals of 10 mins, three ties before sleep only one night. You will feel a great change in the problem you are having. If not, please contact, I am sure you will do great with the homeopathic medicines. I had a case like yours and he is doing very well. Not only he started ejaculating semen, but his sperm count also came to normal. Moreover, homeopathy is a great friend of depression patients.

I am 57 years old, male, having Depression/Anxiety and Schizophrenia since 1987. I have taken innumerous drugs and got relief. Right now I am on Sertraline 100 mg 1-0-0 and mirtazapine 15 mg 0-0-1 for depression/Anxiety. Symptoms are under control. For schizophrenia, I am currently on Amisulpride 200 mg 0-0-1 and qutipin 100 mg 0-0-1. There is relief. But there no positive symptoms viz hallucinations or delusions. But there are negative symptoms like dullness and no pleasure in doing day-to-day activities, staying aloof from relatives and friends. In short, I have withdrawn into my shell. Are the above symptoms confirmed negative symptoms of schizophrenia or are they symptoms of depression? Please advice.

You are already on two good antidepressants so it is less likely that you have uncontrolled depression. These seem more likely to be negative symptoms of schizophrenia according to the data you provided. However it is advisable that you consult a psychiatrist in person to decide any form of treatment too be improvised. Also it is would be prudent to reconsider the diagnosis too if you still face the same problems in spite of taking regular medications. Consult online for any further queries and assistance.

Good Morning ~ I am sorry to hear about your problem with epilepsy and I certainly believe that you can control your problem with the use of medications. It is not unusual for caregivers to feel some amount of burnout while taking care of themselves and their loved ones. Some amount of counseling or talk therapy and medications in combination may be needed and a thorough evaluation is called for. I will certainly help with your issues if you can book an appointment with the undersigned.

Dear, tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like nicotine replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you? re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse abuse? no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn? t easy. But it? s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of alcoholism. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Take care.

Hello doc I had been smoking for one year, a pack each day and now I have discontinued and now getting back cough. Please tell me is this normal or do I need to consult a doctor.

Please do consult a doctor anyway and prevent the progress of any condition, whether caused by smoking or otherwise. If the cough is related to a normal cold, you may be over reacting. A visit is safe and may be preventive too.

Epilepsy is a chronic disease, and it needs medicines for a long time. This would keep seizures under control. Shivering can be a side effect of medication too such as sodium valproate.

I am 22 years old I have problem, my mind and body is not concentrating in one thing. So what should I do to improve concentration and reason for this symptom?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Stress could be the reason for whi9chy you could meet with a counselor. In the meantime do some of these recommendations very faithfully: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem-solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning, at least, five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position, you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. There is some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid sugar and junk food.
