Dear Mr. Lybrate-user, nice of you to write about your issue, following are some ways in which you can enhance your memory. Live your life moment by moment and pay attention to all that is happening to you. If you are studying something focus your mind on it. You will remember something you learned if you focus on it adequately. In case there is noise or disturbance around go to a quite place and continue your studies. Try to involve more than one sense in the moment information like color, texture, smell etc. Write down the information learnt or read out loud what you want to remember. Relate the information learnt to something you already know. Form simple co relations in the mind connecting the information learnt to a subject, color, fruit etc. Rehearse the information learnt to someone else in your own words. Answer any questions on the subject when asked by others. Make a daily re view of all the information learnt in brief (short point form) daily before sleep. Above all relax and enjoy each moment and all that is happening to you. All the best.

Loss of interest, decreased concentration and attention, feeling low and disturbed sleep or appetite are some of the signs of depression. Consult a psychiatrist who will assess you in detail. If you are feeling suicidal or hopeless, seek professional help immediately.

I have a stage fear.I can write down the thing. But it come to speaking with strangers or on stage everything gets blurred.

Stage fear can be quite paralyzing although it hardly has anything to do with the stage. It is really a fear of people. We are gregarious by nature, social animals and need each other for survival and growth. Yet, the very thing that should be our strength can become our weakness, for various reasons. This last fact has to be discovered: what happened to you to develop this extent of anxiety around speaking to people. Are you afraid of being judged and rejected for what you have to say? Have you grown up with a lot of criticism? Do you have a serious rejection issue? The answers to these questions could open a can of worms with which you can do some work. Fear is the bottom-line. Do a personality development course, public speaking course, conversing skills course, join a Toastmasters Club, practice elocution skills, and above all talk to a counselor to help with the underlying fear. These will see you through, if you are sincere and committed.

Hi, I am sorry to say there are no proved medicines for stammering but practicing fluent talking methods like speaking slow and monitoring your stammering. You need to be patient and practice the guidelines given by your speech pathologist. You may do the following: 1. Speaking slow (not low volume but less speed) 2. Reading slow (not low volume but less speed) thanks.

I can't able to pop in single try I have discomfort while pop like distraction which lead to anxiety and other issues. Is there any medicine to pop easily. And also I would like to clean my stomach so prescribe dysentery tablet also.

For constipation I will suggest you to eat food with high fiber content like green leafy vegetables and can also eat bananas at bedtime as it is effective as a laxative and if necessary take 10 ml of syp cremaffin at night.

I am suffering from dust allergy. When exposed in dust from old stuffs make me sneezing and then cold. I smoke too. Is there any medication? Or some simple homely techniques for reducing it?

It all depends on the vocal cords anatomical position and I will suggest you to rehearse your music as per your normal voice and do normal gargling and avoid any unnecessary food items and don't strain your self much and it can also be possible that after slow rehearsal you can get the pitch you want but it would take extra time.

The end of a relationship often feels like the end of the world. After all the time and energy you have invested in it, it is very painful when it gets over. Keep in mind that life is full of ups and downs; nothing is permanent. The pain you feel today will go away with time. Give yourself time to heal. Give time, time. In the meanwhile don't isolate yourself from your friends and family. Confide in someone you are comfortable with. Make a list of life goals, and plan how to achieve them. Relationships are an important part of your life, but they are not everything. Spend time with those close to you, indulge in some enjoyable activities. Keep yourself busy. Slowly you will see that there is a lot to life. However if you are feeling suicidal, consult a psychiatrist immediately. Don't wait to feel worse.

Schizophrenia needs medication for long time. But along with medication psychological counselling is compulsory. Taking medicine and follow the suggestion of the psychologist. Psychological counselling helps to improve your status. You can come out of your problems slowly. If you develop will power and a very good stamina on you. Then there is a possibility to overcome from this problem. Generally people prefer medicine it is easy to take and they think think that with medicine they should come from their problems completely. They are not do any personal work. But it is not possible in psychological disorders. You should do some action oriented work. Then only there is a possibility of overcome from your problems. In thought disorder maintain secrecy it is not good process. Always we share to others. Our internal frustrated thoughts should express with close friends and family members. Dear, You must be able to understand Concentration, attention span, recollection and distraction. If you are able to watch a movie for two hours continuously, if you are able to play a game for an hour, then you do not have any concentration problems. You can't be attentive towards your studies because you are not interested in it. You are able to watch movie and play game because you are interested in it. Human cannot be attentive towards anything for more than 10 minutes. Then you should study in such a way that your attention is continued and make the subjects are interesting to you. Effective learning techniques should help you. Recollection depends on anxiety, stress and other physical and circumstantial factors. Distractions while studying are plentiful. You should be able to overcome distractions or avoid distractions. Please understand the above. Change your study style and attitude accordingly. How to sharpen brain?

You should follow a health promoting and de-stressing life style in the form of early morning awakening, regular yoga/meditation, exercise, healthy diets with plenty of fruits, salads and sprouts, adequate rest and recreation, a period of socialisation, listening to your favourite/soothing music at evening and enough sleep at night. You may solve puzzles, sudoku, play chess etc to increase concentration and higher mental functions. Revising a topic makes a person confident in that topic and this confidence acts as a boost to brain power. Avoid any kind of addiction like tobacco, alcohol etc. Expose yourself to fresh air. Fresh air provides oxygen to brain to make it more active.

I am 21 years old. I am forgetting some simple things. What should I do to remember all things?

You may be under some stress, and I do not know if you are aware of it. Find out what this disturbance is all about and as you address it, memory and concentration will happily return to favor you. Do meet with a counselor, if your stress is too much. In the meantime please follow the suggested guidelines: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night?s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that you and the family go for counseling too.

Stress is the physical or emotional response of the body to an internal or external stimulus that upsets the equilibrium of the body. The contemporary lifestyle causes a lot of stress, which may have adverse impacts on your health.   3. Gelsemium: Gelsemium is an immediate solution to anxiety and apprehension caused by an upcoming event such as a performance, an interview or a test. Gelsemium can relieve symptoms like short-term paralysis, increased pulse rate, dizziness, nausea and indigestion.
  4. Argentum nitricum: It is useful for nervous fits and impulses caused by suggestibility and extreme mental exertion.
  5. Ignatia amara: This is used to deal with depression caused by stress factors like humiliation, fear, guilt and loss. People who go into shock can also be treated with Ignatia amara.
  6. Kali phosphoricum: It can provide relief from exhaustion due to overwork or prolonged illness. The patient becomes over sensitive, anxious and feels unable to cope with stress.
  7. Natrum muriaticum: It is the treatment for symptoms like insomnia, claustrophobia, frequent headaches and pain around the eyes. It is also used to treat stress caused by isolation and dejection.
  8. Pulsatilla: It is a remedy for mild or violent mood swings caused by stress. The patient may alternate between over excitement and depression within a very short period of time.
  9. Sepia: It is a homeopathic medicine that is used to treat patients of stress who have developed cognitive defect and memory problems.

This this Erik, 20 year old. I'm student of IIT KANPUR. Actually sir/madam, I have problem with my concentration. When I start my study, I start thinking about other things (mainly about my girlfriend, about my social sites etc) which leds to break my concentration. In earlier days there were no such problem (in my school days).
