In case of conjunctivitis with severe pain as described by you, it would probably be a better idea to use antibiotic eye drops as well in conjunction with lubricants and anti-allergic eye drops. The ideal protocol would be to get your eye checked in person by your eye specialist. Let me know if i can be of further help. Take care, regards-Dr. Chaitanya.

Hi. I have a few suggestions for you regarding the usage of computers. Follow the rule of" 20" this means that every 20 minutes, take a gap of 20 seconds, blink your eyes actively 20 times and focus at an object which is minimum 20 feet away. This will help in relieving your eyes from the continuous strain that is caused due to staring. Staring at the computer continuously causes us to subconsciously blink less than normal. This causes the tear film on the surface of the eye to dry up. The result of this is pain, discomfort, etc. Another suggestions regarding the usage of computers is to maintain a proper posture. The computer must be positioned at the same height as your eye level. The neck should not be inadvertently flexed or extended. Roughly, an angle of 90 degrees should be maintained between your upper body and thighs. Likewise, a similar angle (90 degrees) should be maintained between your lower legs and thighs. Also the angle between your hands and arms should be roughly 90 degrees. This is the healthy ergonomic way of sitting while using a computer. Maintenance of proper posture would help in further relieving the symptoms of eye discomfort and pain. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you. You could also use a preservative free lubricant eye drop to keep the eyes moist and fresh. Use it 3-4 times daily in both eyes. Hope my suggestions help you. Take care.

Hello- this due to increase in melanin due to improper schedule and yes definitely due to your professional field. Try these ayurvedic tips- a) use kumkumadi tailam faor massage around your eyes. B) daily massage your face with coconut oil mix with alovera zel at bed time. C) use mahamanjisthadi kwath 2 tsp twice daily with water. D) increase cows ghee in your diet as this is the one thing which regress and reverses melanin growth.

hello...i think u have allergic conjunctivitis..Eye allergies, called allergic conjunctivitis, are a common condition that occurs when the eyes react to something that irritates them (called an allergen). The eyes produce a substance called histamine to fight off the allergen. As a result, the eyelids and conjunctiva (the thin, filmy membrane that covers the inside of your eyelids) become red, swollen and itchy, with tearing and burning. The key to treating eye allergies is to avoid or limit contact with the substance causing the problem.Avoid rubbing eyes instead do cold compresses. Use antiallergic eyedrop along with lubricating eyedrop. this will help u I am very sorry dear to say that there is no drud that can cure allergy..only way is to stay away from all those things that u r allergic to .

If you have not had a Cardiology follow up since your angioplasty then I would suggest you have one and at the same time your blood pressure and weight issues can be addressed. It may be things have changed and you need adjustment of your medications and further review of your cardiovascular status.

Hello Lybrate user. Styes are due to bacterial infection. Recurrent styes problems can be very well solved with the help of Homoeopathic treatment. It need proper treatment. Only yoga or eye exercise won't be able to cure the problem. Staphysagrai 30 / 2 globs x 3 times a day will help you. You can consult me in private for full treatment.

Could be because of many reasons but commonly it is due to allergy or infection. You need to visit eye specialist to differentiate between the two as the treatment is different. Also get your eyes checked for any glass power.

Is retinal detachment is treatable, when it is completely (3/4) affected vision power. I can see someone floating things in my eyes. It is treatable or not.

MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Patna
Dear Lybrate user retinal detachment is absolutely treatable. If you r diagnosed cases of retinal detachment then urgently you need surgical treatment. Do not wait for complete loss of vision otherwise blindness can happen in affected eye. Seeing floating in front of eye is called floaters. It is also a symptom of retinal detachment. So you must go for treatment. Good luck.

Yes. There could be a foreign body lodged somewhere. If ignored can lead to other infections. It is better you get your eyes examined.

I have suffered with eye long sight problem and my eye is red colour give me a solution.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
Hello. Redness of the eye is one of the most prevalent problems observed. Redness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. It occurs with symptoms of pricking, itching, irritation, watering, foreign body sensation and discomfort. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. Thus, eye hygiene remains the principal modality of treatment along with eye drops as a supplement. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. There may occur associated pain and sensation of itching, pricking, watering and discomfort. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic because it would require immediate removal from the eye and appropriate therapy. (4) raised eye pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the covering layers of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. (6) increased blood pressure. This has known to cause redness which is also known as sub-conjunctival hemorrhage. The redness in this case tends to be deep dark and usually occurs only in one portion of the eye. In this regard, a complete ophthalmic evaluation and a systemic evaluation is warranted. (7) injury/ trauma to the eye in any form may cause redness of the eyes. This should be taken seriously and assessed in detail by an eye specialist in person. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. You could also use a lubricant eye drop along with an anti-histamine eye drop. (3-4 times daily) also, you might require a complete eye evaluation in order to rule out other causes. This would be possible only by examining your eyes in person.
