I have lower back pain. I tried x ray and local medicine application and physical exercise as well. But pain doesnt do. After resting also it doesnt go but reduces somewhat. If bike is driven it icreases a lot. Please suggest.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I am having back pain from centre of back till the hips. It is paining more day by day. Already consulted doctor. Medicines (mecofol A, powergesic) are not so effective. As I am out of the home for the whole day, when I reach home at night I can barely stand after sit & becomes difficult to sleep at night becoz of pain. Are their any home remedy apart from medications to solve my pain?

Hello lybrate user according to Ayurveda Vata vikriti is the main factor for pain.... Treatment- 1-apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part and give hot water fomentation . 2-take yograj guggul and agni tundi vati after lunch and dinner with warm water. 3-Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. 4-Take pranacharya vatari capsule and syrup twice a day.. Diet- Avoid fermented food...Junk food....potato rice....sleep well......

Old Age Fractures - Ways To Prevent It!

As you get older, you are more prone to old age fractures. This is because of the weakening of your bones and enhanced likeliness towards falling. In case you have osteoporosis, you need to be even more careful to avoid fractures of any kind. Here are some must-read tips for prevention of fractures, which are likely because of old age.

  1. Exercise for improving balance and strength: Exercise directly impacts the strength of the bones. Keeping fit physically helps the reflexes to stay sharp and the muscles to stay strong. This will in turn result in lowering the risk of falling. When you are fit, you are less prone to falls. Bones do not stay fit unless you regularly work out. You should undertake exercises such as walking, weight lifting and also practice flexibility and balance exercises such as yoga and tai chi.
  2. Tread carefully: The selection of shoes is very important for preventing old-age fractures. You should wear shoes, which are low heeled, have rubber soles and provide proper support. Avoid leather soles. You should avoid sneakers having deep treads, which increase your risk of tripping and falling. Shoes must be worn inside the house as well. You also need to take several precautions while walking outside. In case you have arthritis, you require an assistive device to aid you with walking such as a walker or a cane.
  3. Certain medicines to be avoided, if possible: There are several medicines which increase your risk of falling by causing dizziness and lack of coordination. These medicines must be avoided. They include the following:

    • Sleeping pills or sedatives
    • Medicines which lower your blood pressure, thereby resulting in hypotension or extreme low pressure
    • Antidepressant medicines
    • Anticonvulsants which are used for treating epilepsy
    • Muscle relaxants used for back pain and other issues
  4. Lighten up your surroundings: Because of old age, your vision is likely to degrade, making you prone to cataracts and other disorders. The lack of proper vision can make you fall and cause fractures. For solving this problem, you should install several lights all over your residence or workplace. Use overhead lamps, night lights for bathrooms and for your bedroom and always keep the staircases lit. It is also good to keep a flashlight beside you when you sleep.
  5. Fall proof your home: You should make your home safe and fall proof. The rooms should be clutter-free without piles of clothes and boxes. A carpet should be put over polished floors and rugs. Electric cords and phone lines should be away from the floor.

As you get older, you are likely to develop several health conditions, which may increase the chances of falls and fractures. Hence, all health conditions you experience should be properly treated to prevent falls and fractures. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Orthopedist.

You should take Acupressure therapy and take Biochemic Kali mur 200x +Mag phos 200x 4 tab each thrice a day with warm water and take it 5 days than consult private online.

When I get up in the morning my finger joints don' t bend. They are stiff and painful. The ring finger on my right hand gets stuck at right angle many times. And needs to be manually pulled back to position.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. Stiffness is a particular symptom and usually present in inflammatory disorders. Are you suffering from any inflammatory disease for which you are taking any treatment? your finger getting stuck at right angles with subsequent difficulty in straightening it can be due to swelling in tendon sheath which we call as trigger fingers. Hello doctors, I am going to gym form yesterday onwards. I am working out hard from yesterday onwards in gym. But I am suffering from hand muscle pains and muscles are totally in contracted position. In this condition avoid strain and stop the gym. Tk muscle relaxant medicine. Do hot fermentation. If it work then ok other physio session for 2 days. After relief start your gym in gradually process. Firstly your muscle should be use to gym then increase your strength levels.

You may be trying too much or too hard. You should focus on muscle strengthening exercise and increase your intensity gradually. Take care of your diet. Remember don't try too much, too hard, too early.
