The following lifestyle factors can also upset your balance of hormones and cause irregular bleeding: • extreme weight loss or weight gain • excessive exercise • stress -------------------------------------- Polycystic ovary syndrome--------- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) occurs when very small cysts (small, fluid-filled sacs) develop in the ovaries. The usual symptoms of PCOS are irregular or light periods or no periods at all. This is because, in women with PCOS, ovulation (the release of an egg) may not take place as often as normal. The production of hormones may also be unbalanced, and you could have higher levels of testosterone than normal. Testosterone is a male hormone that women usually have a small amount of. --------------------------- Thyroid disorders------------------------------- A thyroid disorder is another possible, but rare, cause of irregular periods. The thyroid gland, found in the neck, produces hormones that maintain the body's metabolism (the chemical processes your body uses to turn food into energy). Your Gynae may test for a thyroid problem by taking a blood test to check levels of thyroid hormones in your blood. ----------------------

Your mother underwent hystrectomy operation. I advise her to take fruits like apple, guava, papaya, water melon, pineapple, orange, moussami. These fruits will help to reduce weight. She should avoid cheese, desi ghee, cream and milk. She can take milk but not too much. She can do brisk walking and avoid heavy exercises.

TIPS TO REDUCE SKIN TANNING DUE TO SUN

BHMS, Dietitian/ Nutritionist
Homeopath, Pune
TIPS TO REDUCE SKIN TANNING DUE TO SUN
1. Use lemon or orange peels. Crush them and make a powder in a mixer. Mix this with rosewater and turmeric and malai. Apply this paste over the face for about 20 mins alternate days. After sun exposure. It will remove the tan and give a fairer skin.

2. Sandalwood or chandan powder can also be used with lemon juice and curds as a tan remover.

3. Malai mixed with besan and lemon juice can also be used for removal of tanning especially on face and neck. Apply it as a mask for 20-30 mins and wash with luke warm water. Will help in tan removal.

Hi, two months is too short time to say that there must b a problem. Try naturally for 6 months provided you hav regular menstrual cycles. If irregular cycles then you need to consult.

You have to check your thyroid level and blood for anemia to find if there is any cause of tiredness . If these are normal you are fine

See...these defects are only produced during the formation of baby in zygote, due to any minute effect, and are totally somatic structural defects, not related to genetic level. So, there are no any chance of passing this to the baby. So, just relax and plan your parenthood ahead.

My wife is having adinomiosis and block and having uncontrol pain in period time but she have to conceive so how can it cure?

DGO, MBBS
Sexologist,
If the both tubes are blocked then best treatment is test tube baby. However it costly and success rate is 30-35%. Also sometimes tubes can be opened by a small procedure called- hydrotubation.

Dear lybrate-user having intercourse three days before periods though rare but can cause pregnancy. But if she had a proper period around her expected date then chances of pregnancy are minimal.

Thyroid report is fine continue with medication. There are lot of factors which affect conception other than thyroid, lifestyle, diet, stress are most common among them. And in many cases even if all reports are fine, it may take time in conceiving, more than a year. So she should try for few more months, making lifestyle & diet modifications.

All about Hypersexuality

PG Dip(psycosexual diseases), MBBS
Sexologist, Delhi
All about Hypersexuality

When a person is preoccupied with physical fantasies to the point of dysfunction for at least six months, he or she suffers from hyper sexuality. Hyper sexuality is also known as nymphomania or compulsive sexual behavior. These sexual fantasies are usually combined with a compulsive pursuit of non-intimate or casual sex, excessive masturbation habit, pornography, objective partner sex and romantic intensity.

It is more complex than just having an unusually high sex drive because sexual activity gives the addict an intense feeling of euphoria, suppressing other thoughts which cause distress, self-loathing and shame. This interferes with the daily regimen of activities. Treatment and management of sex addiction is imperative because it is disruptive and harmful not just to you but also to others. It also damages relationships, careers and self-esteem.

People suffering from hyper sexuality exhibit the following symptoms:
1. They engage in compulsive masturbation
2. They frequently hire prostitutes
3. Usage of phone sex services excessively
4. They have multiple extramarital affairs
5. They plan out sexual activities excessively
6. They engage in one night stands frequently
7. They are emotionally detached from their sexual partners
8. They prefer unprotected sex
9. They obsess about an unattainable sexual partner
10. They show tendencies of paraphilia

The primary and identifiable causes of hyper sexuality are as follows:
1. Biochemical imbalances in neurotransmitters and nervous system disorders
2. Medical conditions that damage certain parts of the brain of affect brain functioning
3. Overproduction of hormones such as androgens (present in males and females)
4. Being predisposed to hyper sexuality due to genes
5. Altered neural pathways
6. Suffering from childhood abuse
7. Dysfunctional family dynamics

Sexual addiction is believed to be a dysfunctional adult response towards emotional or character regulatory deficits and innate personality as well as abuse, early detachment disorders and trauma. Hyper sexuality is a symptom of a lot of mental disorders such as bipolar disorder, adult attention deficit disorder or obsessive compulsive disorder.

Sex addicts usually do not seek treatment for their addiction until the consequences of their activities are dire and have an overt negative effect on their health, relationships, finances and career. Since addicts feel ashamed and despise themselves, they usually do not seek help until they hit rock bottom. However, it is crucial to treat this disorder in order to lead a happy and fulfilling life where one is not controlled by their addiction.  You can also take the package for having safe sex.

Hyper sexuality can be treated using the following methods:

  1. Psychotherapy
  2. Group Therapy
  3. Family and couples therapy
  4. Support groups
  5. Self-help groups
  6. Medications
    1. Antidepressants
    2. Anti-androgens
    3. Luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH)
    4. Mood Stabilizers
    5. Naltrexone

If you wish to discuss about any specific sexual problem, you can consult a specilized sexologist.
