Upper back pain can be due to tightness in back and shoulder blade muscles and sometimes referred from the neck. Try gentle stretching exercises for upper back and neck daily. Use heat or cold therapy as tolerated. For foot pain try calf stretches and see a podiatrist if pain persists. Wish you good luck.

dear lybrate user its l pertinent to mention,without making any realistic diagnostic modalities like mri scan of foot,no one can confirm its absolutely any condition,whatever and who so ever stated.you can provisionally make a gross mapping there too. intially start with some rest and mediccal management as advise by someone,if not helped then proceed with proper investigation like mri -to ruled out any tear or injury to ligament or muscle or any cartilage etc just going with common saying in such chronic cases may debilited your performance

I am fifty now & my right knee is stiff-my xray says starting stage of osteoporosis. May I seek sugesstion for immediate relief.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. I think you wanted to mention early stage of osteoarthritis and not osteoporosis. My suggestions for early oa will be: - start doing daily brisk walks for at least 2-3 km in a day in mornings. - intensive knee - quadriceps and hamstring strengthening exercises should be initiated initially in presence of a trained physical therapist and then at home on your own - avoid sitting cross legged, not to use indian style washrooms, do not do anything which eccentrically loads the knee and increases cartilage breakdown. - adequate calcium and vitamin d metabolism in terms of appropriate intake is important to keep bone metabolism ok - you can take short course of anti inflammatory medication like tab etoshine on sos basis especially when there is an episode of inflammatory pain, swelling etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Tips for cervical spondylitis: 1. Peel two cloves of garlic and crush it. Add this to a glass of milk. Boil it on a mild flame till one-fourth glass remains. Filter and make two equal parts. Drink one part in the morning and the other in the evening. 2. Warm mustard oil or sesame oil (1 teaspoon) with 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic and 1 tsp of ajwain (carom) seeds until it roasts to a reddish brown colour. Ensure that it does not get burned. Massage this oil on your affected areas. After that do hot fomentation with salt potli (bag). 3. Take 1 tsf triphala churna daily. N practice yoga daily twice.
