That you are hearing voices, it may be from various reasons: it may be an actual hallucination which may happen if there is an underlying psychotic process, or it may be a pseudo hallucination because of thinking problem, depression, anxiety etc, or it be substance induced, if you are addicted to any substance of abuse like alcohol, cannabis, inhalants, or may be because of some organic cause etc. You need to be evaluated. Get yourself evaluated by a Psychiatrist who will diagnose you after your mental status examination & Psycho diagnostic evaluation, & will give you treatment accordingly. With treatment, this problem will definitely go.

Nilesh is 30 years of age, he has addition of alcohol, as his family is always asking him to leave alcohol, so he most of the time stays in Pune doing some local jobs of catering. Can anybody help me how we can get him out of alcohol addiction.

General Physician,
Only strong will power, determination, attending AA meetings and diverting mind when tempted will help you stop alcohol Alcohol causes 7 types of cancer, including breast, mouth and bowel cancers. When you drink alcohol, cancer-causing chemicals are formed. Alcohol also affects hormone levels and makes cells even more likely to be damaged by smoking. The less alcohol you drink, the lower the risk of cancer. No type of alcohol is better or worse than another, it is the alcohol itself that leads to the damage, regardless of whether it is in wine, beer or spirits. And drinking and smoking together are even worse for you. Not everyone who drinks alcohol will develop cancer. But on the whole, scientists have found that some cancers are more common in people who drink more alcohol than others. Every year, alcohol causes 4% of cancers .Tips to cut down on alcohol. There are lots of simple ways to cut down on the amount of alcohol you drink. It can help to work out if there are particular times or situations when you tend to have a drink, whether that’s a bad day at work or a weekly pub quiz tradition, and plan what you’ll say and do differently next time. Have more alcohol-free days a week. For liver health it’s best to have at least 2 days off alcohol in a row each week. Try agreeing on certain days with your partner or a friend and help each other and stick to it. If you are planning to drink alcohol, decide on a limit in advance and make sure you don’t go over it. Swap every other alcoholic drink for a soft one – starting with your first drink. Try shandy instead of a pint of beer, or swap some wine for soda and have a spritzer. Don’t stock up on beer, wine or spirits at home. Finish one drink before pouring another, because topping up drinks makes it harder to keep track of how much you’ve had and when you planned to stop. Avoid buying drinks in rounds, that way you don’t have to keep pace with anyone. Tell a friend or partner that you’re cutting down on alcohol, they can support you – or even join you.

Dear lybrate-user, Welcome to Lybrate. Tension during and before examination is called performance anxiety. First of all you have to understand that till now it is not a medical condition, but it can some day. You have start changing your way of thinking and behaving. 1) first you are an extremely emotionally sensitive person and most of the times, you function from the heart. If you start thinking and acting more from wisdom, you will be more peaceful. It will make you a more worldly wise person. 2) if you don't hurt people in return, that is extremely a rare quality, that means you forgive. Now since you forgive, learn to also forget. People are miserable only because either live in the past or worry about the future. Live in this moment. What is gone is gone. 3) to pursue any new relationship. It is really important, you forget the earlier or else it would spoil everything.

I'm 20 years old. I have a boyfriend since 2 years. He used to smoke weed and drink a lot. But after so much fights tears and convincing he left everything. and promised to not do it again. He didn't touch anything for 2 months. But from 2 days he has again started smoking weed. Because of which he ignored me a lot. and whenever he wished to talk he was after me to talk. Rest all the time he was with his friends enjoying weed. I cried so much. Literally I died of crying. At first he got lil irritated he was also like he has done it after very long for just once. and he loves me more than all that. But i'm not able to convince myself. I tried to leave him but I couldn't leave him. Every time we have a fight he comes making fun. As if nothing affects him. He is always so calm. This irritates me the most. He says he will not do it now. But why did he do that I can't get that out of my head. and he's not even a bit affected. What should I do? Please help.

Hi, smoking weed makes one internalized. One derived pleasure from ones fanciful imagination and more vivid focused internalization and that is how one derives extra pleasure from simple things like listening to music. You should let him smoke to his hearts content, infact ask him to smoke his lungs out he will stop when he has to. Meanwhile don't make yourself readily available. Take a break. From him. Have patience and you will find a direction. As for now hes more happy in his internal world.

Dear lybrate-user, I do not think you need psychiatric treatment at all. Divorce is almost equivalent to separation and due to that it is quite natural to have stress, disappointment and frustration. These three causes lack of interest, self respect and self confidence. Naturally the symptoms of your description manifests. It might take some time to you to come back to your original self

You can try natural depression control or if it is not possible need to take antidepressants. 5 Ways to Fight Depression If you feel depressed, it's best to do something about it — depression doesn't just go away on its own. In addition to getting help from a doctor or therapist, here are 5 things you can do to feel better. 1.Exercise. Take a 15- to 30-minute brisk walk every day — or dance, jog, or bike if you prefer. People who are depressed may not feel much like being active. In addition to getting aerobic exercise, some yoga poses can help relieve feelings of depression. Two other aspects of yoga — breathing exercises and meditation — can also help people with depression feel better. 2.Nurture yourself with good nutrition. Depression can affect appetite. One person may not feel like eating at all, but another might overeat. Proper nutrition can influence a person's mood and energy. So eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and get regular meals (even if you don't feel hungry, try to eat something light, like a piece of fruit, to keep you going). 3.Identify troubles, but don't dwell on them. Try to identify any situations that have contributed to your depression. When you know what's got you feeling blue and why, talk about it with a caring friend. Talking is a way to release the feelings and to receive some understanding. 4. Express yourself. With depression, a person's creativity and sense of fun may seem blocked. Exercise your imagination (painting, drawing, doodling, sewing, writing, dancing, composing music, etc.) and you not only get those creative juices flowing, you also loosen up some positive emotions. Take time to play with a friend or a pet, or do something fun for yourself. Find something to laugh about — a funny movie, perhaps. Laughter helps lighten your mood. 5. Try to notice good things. Depression affects a person's thoughts, making everything seem dismal, negative, and hopeless. If depression has you noticing only the negative, make an effort to notice the good things in life. Try to notice one thing, then try to think of one more. Consider your strengths, gifts, or blessings. Most of all, don't forget to be patient with yourself. Depression takes time to heal. If you are happy with these answers please click on "useful” link so that I can know my efforts are not wasted. If you want more clarifications or prescription for medicines consult me on this site to ask me directly and not in open questions session It's not easy to say exactly what causes depression and anxiety – it's different for everyone. Sometimes a difficult time in you or your mates' life can set off depression or anxiety, sometimes it's caused by a combination of things that has built up over time and sometimes, there's just no obvious cause at all.
