Dear lybrate user first of all try consulting a clinical psychologist because medicines would act faster and taken along with therapeutic sessions. Try to bring exercises in your routine like gym, yoga, brisk walk etc. Engage into some hobby club. You can volunteer yourself in some ngo working for the society like teaching children living on street or slum. Sometimes doing working for good cause help in elevating ones mood and spirit. Hope this will help. Take care.

Hi there ~ attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or adhd is a common problem that sometimes persists into adulthood. The symptoms are as follows: six or more symptoms of inattention for children up to age 16, or five or more for adolescents 17 and older and adults; symptoms of inattention have been present for at least 6 months, and they are inappropriate for developmental level: often fails to give close attention to details or makes careless mistakes in schoolwork, at work, or with other activities. Often has trouble holding attention on tasks or play activities. Often does not seem to listen when spoken to directly. Often does not follow through on instructions and fails to finish schoolwork, chores, or duties in the workplace (e. G. Loses focus, side-tracked). Often has trouble organizing tasks and activities. Often avoids, dislikes, or is reluctant to do tasks that require mental effort over a long period of time (such as schoolwork or homework). Often loses things necessary for tasks and activities (e. G. School materials, pencils, books, tools, wallets, keys, paperwork, eyeglasses, mobile telephones). Is often easily distracted is often forgetful in daily activities. Please take the expert advise of a neuropsychiatrist hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day.

Hi. My girlfriend is the from a higher caste and that's why her mother forbade her to talk with me. But we are in a relationship since 2014. A serious relationship in sense of honest amd earnest love (not to be misinterpreted with physicalities). Things changed from the time her mother became so strict about the matter. She even found an alternative for her in place of me, but she rejected the boy standing again her whole family. But as the situations lead to, she doesn't talk with me as before, marks my WhatsApp messages as seen, no reply, ignores me somewhat. I asked her out what's the matter a few days ago. She said that being the whole family and specially her mother against the relationship, whenever she texts me, or any kind of topic regarding me arises, her mother howls at her in such a disgrace, and even spitting odds and bad about me is also not restricted! Despite of all the unwelcoming circumstances, we're still in a relationship, but definitely not sire if our marriage will be possible or not. In fact the probability is leaning viciously to a big No. We both are concerned about it a lot. I'm in IIT Bombay, 1st year. But problem is I'm an SC. And that's why fear is growing upon us vein like railway tracks forever that runs parallel together but never meet! What should we do now?

As you have explained, she is in confusion to go ahead with you despite the family being so objectionable. All you can do is ask her if she can accept you against the whole world and see if you can handle it, If you are well settled in life to marry against the family. Or it is just forget he and decide between both of you.

Environment is always right. But our mind set is not right. Junk food may not caused your problems. It will not reason for your problem. No social net works it is good. But I think you have no friends also. May be always sit in home alone. That is not good. Make friendship with who are good at studies. They suggest to you a very good time table and diet also. They suggest good methods of studies and tell how to come out of the study problems also. You not solve all the problems take the help of good friends. Ask the elders and teachers about your problems. They will tell what you need. Take the advise of elders and good friends. Make a good time table and solve it in a systematic manner. Ok best of luck.

Since she was a sexual partner, your obsession with your ex-partner is normal. You need to ignore this thought with CBT.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. Typically, treatment entails a combination of at least one mood-stabilizing drug and/or atypical antipsychotic, plus psychotherapy. The most widely used drugs for the treatment of bipolar disorder include lithium carbonate and valproic acid (also known as depakote). I am sure, natural remedies usually do not work. But cognitive behavior therapy, relaxation therapy, life style changes etc do work. Please do not worry. I suggest online cbt and other therapies. Take care.

Hi I am 20 year old and I have problem of Drinking. I am not live without drinking.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
You are too young to be unable to live without drinking alcohol. If you are that addicted, you must look at whether you have a genetic factor, an oral issue, a rigid value system and also a script issue. These, either alone or in combination of two or three or all four make you an addictive personality. Of course there is the issue of dependence and tolerance that would have developed with the effect of the chemical. Since you are a teenager, there is still a lot of neurons that are still forming and establishing itself. Drinking during your teens, will permanently damage those nerves and affect decision making, taking responsibility and memory. Every time you drink heavily, you damage thousands of brain cells, never to be replaced. So the choice is very clear: quit right now through some treatment, and later when you have better controls you may choose to drink socially, other factors being normal. You have two choices in treatment: admit yourself into a hospital for detoxification over a two-week period to remove the physical craving and follow that up with counseling. The other option is to go for rehabilitation to a recovery center and stay there for 6 months and go through the 12-step process and work on the many issues that usually trouble the addict. After both these options, it is highly recommended to attend the aa meetings to get the best kind of support ever experienced for recovered alcoholics. Private counseling can continue in conjunction with the recovery and it must last for at least 3 complete years of total abstinence, if you are to truly consider yourself to be clean off of this habit.

Dear, thanks for sharing your problem. I will try to help you. Look, in your case it appears that your mind remains pre-occupied with some thoughts and as a result you often can not pay attention to desired events, tasks. These thoughts may be worries, apprehension or mind pleasing. Such a thing can happen with any body. If you remember that you forget, it means your memory is ok, your mind seems to be elsewhere for the time. You may be stressed/ depressed and may be thinking about past/present/future excessively. If so, you need a psychiatric consultation to rule out anxiety/ stress.
