Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

I am having back pain from centre of back till the hips. It is paining more day by day. Already consulted doctor. Medicines (mecofol A, powergesic) are not so effective. As I am out of the home for the whole day, when I reach home at night I can barely stand after sit & becomes difficult to sleep at night becoz of pain. Are their any home remedy apart from medications to solve my pain?

Hello lybrate user according to Ayurveda Vata vikriti is the main factor for pain.... Treatment- 1-apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part and give hot water fomentation . 2-take yograj guggul and agni tundi vati after lunch and dinner with warm water. 3-Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. 4-Take pranacharya vatari capsule and syrup twice a day.. Diet- Avoid fermented food...Junk food....potato rice....sleep well......

Calf stretches standing calf stretch stand away from a wall and put your fight foot behind you and be sure your toes are facing forward. Lean forward at the ankle while bending the right knee and keeping your heel on the ground. Hold this for 30 to 60 seconds. Repeat 10 times a twice a day.

1. Start with Physiotherapy treatment for cervical spine. 2. Learn Cervical exercises. 3. Correct your posture. 4. Don't use Pillow. 5. Do hot fermentation. 6. Apply volini cream before sleeping. 7. Take calcium, vitamin D 3 and Methylcobalmine supplement for one month minimum.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Requires detailed examination and investigation. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

Please do have clinically examined by musculoskeletal physiotherapist or orthopaedician to rule out peri arthritis shoulder or brahialgia for pain have hot water and cold water fomentation thrice a day for 12 days of 15 minutes duration each. Best wishes

Hello lybrate-user, get a mri done to pin point the cause and site of pain. Meanwhile go for ayurveda's panchkarma therapy - we have many option for you - kati basti (specialised panchakarma procedure for backpains), localised massgae with herbal oils, localised medicated steam, pottali massage. Continue these procedures for atleast 15 days. Regular oiling of the joint will improve the lubrication also. These procedures will relax your back muscles and give strength to your nerves and muscles of back. Also start some yogic exercises - tadasana, dhanurasan, halasana along with these therapies. This will greatly help. Please avoid pushing / pulling heavy objects, long sittings, long two-wheeler drives. Although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking.. Please update with your valuable feedback after 15 days.\

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

Do hot fermentation twice a day. Get your uric acid (blood test) done. Avoid eating chilled and sour food items. Take gokshuradi guggul 2-2-2 amrutaadi guggul 2-2-2 rasnadi guggul 2-2-2 all these for atleast 6 months.

Hello Dr. I am having too much pain in my runner knee coz I start running in morning from last week.
Hii As you have started running suddenly, the knee has begun to hurt. Its always advisable to start running slowly and then progress even more slowly over weeks. It takes time to achieve desired results. Do not increase the workload all of a sudden. Also, it is very important to do a proper warm up and stretches before starting your running. Cool down period after exercise is also very helpful in preventing pain. To know more about warm up and stretches you can consult me privately. You can meet a physio directly to have a detailed evaluation of your flexibility, strength etc. However its good that you have started running, keep going but slow and steady. Good luck.
