My teeth is weak. There is pain in that. They are shaking.
There is swelling in gums.
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedures or root canal treatment. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Dental Implants and its Benefits

Dental Implants and its Benefits

Dentistry has made a lot of progress in the past few decades and continues to do so. However, certain factors, such as injuries, gingivitis, gum disease and decay of tooth can all lead to tooth loss. Previously, bridges and dentures were the only options available, but now a new form of treatment known as ‘dental implants’ have come up. Implants are basically replacements to your broken or damaged teeth and can function just like the way your original teeth did. Implants also provide a strong foundation and have a success rate of around 98 per cent.

The advantages of dental implants are the following:

  1. Implants help you eat easily as they act like your natural teeth. Owing to this, implants score over dentures.
  2. Since implants look like your natural teeth, they can give you back the smile you need and hence you appear confident and feel better about yourself.
  3. Implants are durable and can last a lifetime which makes it advantageous over other dental procedures.
  4. Implants are permanently fused to your bone and help to improve your speech as they are fitted properly to avoid any sort of slip.

Are you suited for a dental implant?
The answer is obviously yes and in fact, anyone suffering from dental concerns can go for dental implant. Being healthy for routine extraction and other oral surgeries deem you eligible and fit for dental implant procedures. However, the minimum necessity is healthy gums if you are considering dental implants. But, it is always advisable to consult your dentist.

Implants require regular visits to your dentist and maintaining proper oral hygiene is a must. If you are a regular smoker or have chronic disorders such as diabetes and heart disease or have had radiation therapy done on your neck or head region previously, then you may have to consult your dentist before zeroing in on dental implants.

I had inguinal hernioplasty on my right side four years ago. Now I have started going gym. I sometime feel pain inside like a toothache and sometimes it feels cold like something is draining inside? What could be it, is it due to I am loosing fat? Or internal bleeding or hernia again. I do not feel any bump but I may be wrong? What test can be done to ensure everything is good inside.

Hi lybrate-user, hernnioplasty is a procedure in which surgeon uses a mesh which is placed either under or over the defect in the abdominal wall and held in place by a few sutures. Mesh acts as "scaffolding" for new growth of a patient's own tissue, which eventually incorporates the mesh into the surrounding area. It moves when the patient moves to provide you more comfort. Since there is no bump, you have nothing to worry about. I would suggest not to do any exercises which puts pressure on your groin. If you still want to be sure, you can get an USG lower abdomen done. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Do You Overbrush ?

Do You Overbrush ?

Vigourous tooth brushing can wear down your enamel on the teeth as well as damage and push your gums exposing the sensitive root area and receding gums can lead to other dental problems like periodontal disease and root caries. Do not brush vigorously and follow a proper technique.

I just removed my tooth but it's base is still there as the dentist is unable to extract it because of excessive pain. So if still left there does it cause any harm in future.

I just removed my tooth but it's base is still there as the dentist is unable to extract it because of excessive pain...
Dear Lybrate User, By base you mean to say that the remaining tooth or root structure (a root stump to be precise!) has been left behind by you dentist while extracting the tooth. Now if the tooth was already infected, leaving the tooth or root fragment like that might call for infection and pain in the future. If the dentist has left the last bit of the root inside which is not loose and accessible, it might be left in-situ. You need the dentist to take an X-Ray of the remaining tooth or root to determine its precise location. For all practical purposes, if you do not have any symptoms, you may defer the extraction but if you have lingering pain or any infection, you MUST get the remaining portion extracted by some more specialised dentist like an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. Take Care!

Guide On Dental Crowns

Hi friends!

This is Dr.Premendra Goyal. I’m dentist from Mumbai.

Had some of the other time everyone may be directly or indirectly have known about Dental Crown. Now when you visit a dentist every one gives you a choice. This is a crown, this is a crown, and this is a material available and creating to lot of confusion. Mind you be very sure whatever your dentist is suggesting, may it be a 1000 rupees cap or 10,000 rupees cap, may it be a white color or a metal cap. They are not bad for you in any way. The broad choices available for dental crowns are metal crowns; which are something called white metal, they probably look more like steel. Then there are something called as porcelain fused to metal crowns; where a thin metal shell are is covered by ceramic which is a tooth color material which matches your tooth very well. In nowadays we have a something called as zirconia or metal free crowns which are very aesthetic, which look very lifelike your natural teeth. Now as we progress from a simple metal crown to a complicated zirconia crown which are fabricated using advance technology over CAD/CAM, total computerization, the cost factor increases. But so does the cosmetic value, maybe the life and sometimes some companies do offer long-term warranties on those caps. But believe me you start with a metal cap , they may look like steel but by far if you ask me they become the best choice of a cap today, because there are single piece metal casting. But again yes, they have a big drawback of having a steel like color so they are not acceptable today. The second choice as I said Porcelain fused to metal, they are very good they look like life-like again but the only drawback is over a period of time they create a black margin near the gum that is due to the tattooing effect due to the metal inside. Now thirdly you have those metal free zirconia crowns which actually look like your actual teeth. To express them in words is difficult because you need to actually feel them, you need to see, next to your natural teeth you hardly make out the difference. So when going for dental crowns please don’t be confused, go according to your budget and the aesthetic zone which demands what sort of crown you want. But by far be very sure whatever your dentist is suggesting is not going to harm you in any way.

Be happy, be healthy, keep smiling. Thank you! For more information you can contact us via Lybrate. Thank you!

what I ll do?
Even if you have no pain you please consult a dentist who can replace the broken part after taking a radiograph and confirming that there is no other crack present in the teeth which cannot be seen with the naked eye.
