I have TSH level 24 thyroid. I am underweight. Only 42 kgs. I have hypo or hyper thyroidism?
Mr Adrija, High TSH levels signify hypothyroidism. Weight increase happens as a symptom of hypothyroidism. But if one is already less in weight that does not rule out possibility of hypothyroidism.

Mr if blood glucose levels are maintained with in normal limit like fasting closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c% <7, kidney function improves and hence creatinine level also can reverse to normal. Plus protein intake also may have to be restricted to about 0.6 g / kg per day. Thanks.

My TSH level is<0.01 and the T3 and T4 levels are in range. What should I do to increase my TSH level so that it comes in range?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr Ramesh, TSH is just below normal, this is because of throxine being taken. The dose appears to be fine if T3 and T4 are also normal. There is no need to do any thing. Continue the same treatment.

Being 40 your backache and neckache may need not to be due to your high uric acid only. That may be because of other reasons too. Treat your hyper uric acid level by an ortho. Doc's and a dietician's advice. Meanwhile, sleep on a hard bed with thin mattress, use commode, local heat with a pain gel after fomentation, pain killers for 5 days and rest for 3-5 days if your problem is bothering your routine life.

Hello, please follow the doctor prescribed medicine. Which controls the diabetics and will not allow you increase. But along with medication, you need to concentrate on food also. Make sure your food must have high protein, fiber and omega-3 nutrition. Its good to have more protein rather than carbohydrates, which converts into glucose and may have a chance to increase the diabetes. What we suggest is the nutrigemoic protein, who certified, with 9 essential amino acids. This will help you cure your diabetics in a year time. But you will definitely have a result, if you can use protein with vitamins and minerals, fiber and omega-3 supplements, also add b complex for feets.

How could I control my blood sugar?

CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology, MBBS
Endocrinologist,
How could I control my blood sugar?
Blood sugar can be controlled by following methods: 1) regular medication as prescribed, 2) following dietary restrictions, 3) no sweets and direct sugar intake, 4) regular exercise for at least 1 h or more a day, 5) maintaining weight within normal limit (ideal body weight = height in cms - 100 x 0.9 = kgs). 6) consuming more green salads, avoiding deep fried foods. If one follows these guide lines meticulously then controlling blood sugar is possible.

lybrate-user, You may try and reduce uric acid level to around 5 mg or so. That may reduce joint pains. If you take non vegetarian food the avoid organ meat, red meat, certain fishes like herring, haddock, salmon, sardines, trout, scallops, mushrooms, mussels etc. Avoid alcohol, high fat milk products. If need be then take uric acid reducing drugs. Thanks.

Himaniji, TSH levels increase if the dose of thyroxine given is inadequate. Your starting treatment itself should have been higher. Since the dose was reduced from 50 mcg to 37.5 mcg, which was definitely inadequate, causing the rise in TSH levels. Inspite of taking medication regularly TSH level will not come down on the contrary it will go up, as has happened in your case. On treatment for achieving control TSH level should come between 3 to 4 mU/L. Thanks.

You can take Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. Mr kalpesh, if you are using correct technique while injecting then it is highly unlikely for blood to come. Giving injections subcutaneously is not causing any bleeding. So please check the way you inject. Even if it does bleed the drug will get absorbed. There is no loss of insulin.

Hello Doc! So there are a lot of problems that I am facing at the moment. I’ll move ahead step by step. 1.Delayed period- I am 8 days late on my period, though I am not sexually active. 2.On and off anxiety and pain in different parts of body, eg: wrist, thighs knees and sometimes swelling in hands & feet. 3.Puffiness under eyes & face. 4.I feel tired and lethargic many times even if I have taken proper rest. My Background: I have a desk job, I do not exercise regularly. 10-15 minutes of walk is all that I do. I have normal diet, but I eat out 2-3 days every week. I sleep late at night & sometimes I have to force myself to sleep at night. I have been suggested that I may have high thyroid, for which I got my complete blood and urine test done. I am attaching my reports. Please take a look & suggest what is causing all this? Is it anything serious? Do I need to take medications or just a healthy life style could mend it. Please give me a detailed answer. Thyroid report: TT3: 1.53 TT4: 7.94 TSH: 18.65 Lipid Profile: Non HDL Cholesterol 145.3 Cholesterol/HDL Ratio 7.6 0.0 - 4.0 Calculated LDL / HDL Cholesterol Ratio 5.2 Cholesterol/HDL Ratio 7.6 0.0 - 4.0 Calculated LDL / HDL Cholesterol Ratio 5.2 Cholesterol - Total 167.2.
