What are habits that overcome depression. I am non alcoholic, non smoker, vegetarian.
Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

My 4 year old daughter is acting insecure and strange. I have filled for a divorce last month and she was taken away from me forcefully for 15 days. She was with her father and not allowed to talk to me. Now I have got her back legally and she can not see her father anymore. He has refused to take visiting rights. Now she is living with me at my parents house. Should I see a child psychologist for her behavior changes?

Your daughter is only 4 year old and the divorce proceedings between you and your husband, are beyond her. A child craves for both the parents and chosing one of them is very traumatic for the child. The child is undergoing a lot of traumatic events and that is making her sad, angry and insecure. It is very sad that she was taken away from you forcibly. From her view point it is also sad that she cannot see her father now. I understand that you also are going through a lot and are under lot of stress. I am sure you had strong reasons for making these choices. I would request you to give your daughter some more time to settle down and then try to talk to her normally. Don't drag your daughter into your disagreements with your husband. It would be helpful if you do not get angry with her for loving her father and see that you do not speak ill about him in front of her. I understand, this is not easy and how sad all this must be for you. See, many times, children feel responsible for their parents' fights and keep feeling guilty. She might be confused, hence might be acting strange and feeling insecured. There is a lot to be done in your case. Kindly seek help from a counsellor.

Hi. I am 27 years old. I had a medical abortion on 3rd March but it was incomplete. And hence I went through medical abortion again on 13th March. I am not bleeding heavy currently and feel stressed. Why did you go for a medical abortion again if the first if the first one had failed. You should have gone for a d and c. My advise to you is that go for an ultrasound pelvis. If it shows products of conception present, get them removed asap.

Good Morning ~ The positive thinking with regards to your having problems in your life will make things more positive in outlook. Your thoughts about death and fear of future of becoming sad will also go away. You may need to continue your medications for another few days and kindly contact a psychiatrist for suggestions regarding medications.

Its been long you are having depression related medications. I hope you often consult your doctor. It is essential to remember that when its about mental issues, pharmacotherapy + counseling goes hand in hand. If you are already done using your medications for a prolonged time, I hope you must have undergone counseling too. If not it is time you start your therapy sessions under nearest and a good counselor. You said you are taking treatment that keeps you quiet at office which may be the reason why you are not talking. There may be many underlying issues that may ahve affected your personality due to this prolong illness. According to me counseling is the best solution to your problems.

Your worrying about your future and career could be the reason that stress may be the cause of your acidity. You must meet with a counselor and take some measures to alleviate your stress. Stress management classes will certainly help too. Your must watch your diet to reduce acidity (include a lot of probiotics in your food intake), and you must start an exercise program too. Make sure you get good sleep every day. Our mind can disturb our body by a whopping 98% with stress and cause a lot of psychosomatic problems. You calm your mind, you heal your body.

How to quit smoking?

When quitting, you must take one day at a time. If you look too far ahead you will get discouraged and will give up. If you sit and count the number of days you have given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. You must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if you fail one day, you must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. Your persistence will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary but true and you must remind yourself about this every day. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact it is highly toxic too. You will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine chewing gum or nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i.e. at least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here?s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a cigarette, it is not the end of the world ? you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest.

Dear lybrate-user, try this method many people are success first and most sleep early wake up early at 4.0 am and study with fresh mind, of course subjects which you are not interested you must spend more time and repeat it many times" practice makes perfect" not only. Switch off mobile phone when you go to bed and switch it on at 6 am.

Dear, memory and mind power consists of understanding, storage and recollection of information you learn. Understanding depends on concentration. The more creative you are on doing tasks or reading, the more you understand. Storage and recollection depends on your understanding and how well you review what you have learned. Repetition and review of material learned and other tasks provides easy recollection. You can improve your concentration and total brain power with the help of green leafy vegetables, exercise, creative activities, number puzzles like sudoku etc. Hard work is the key to learning and recollection. avoid day time sleep. avoid tea, coffee, cola in late evening and after,take healthy diet, avoid stress. 8 hours sleep is ok. 10 pm to 6 am is good timing.
