Tooth reshaping removes parts of the enamel to improve the appearance of the tooth. It may be used to correct a small chip, or to alter the length, shape or position of teeth, as well as when there is tooth size discrepancy;. it can be used to correct crooked or excessively long teeth. The removed enamel is irreplaceable, and may sometimes expose dentin. It is also known as enameloplasty, odontoplasty, contouring, recontouring, slenderizing, stripping. This procedure offers fast results and can even be a substitute for braces under certain circumstances.

My sister often gets mouth ulcers (large in quantity) along with swelling of gums and lips. She has tried homeopathic medication. But this repeats very frequently. What should she do?

Dental problem I have very yellow teeth. I dont like the colour I went to dentist, he said my colour of teeth is only yellow. How can this be even possible? What should i do to get whitter teeth?

Oral Implantologist (New York University), Advanced Aesthetic Oral & Dental Surgeon. BDS (India)
Dentist, Mumbai
Hii, There can be multiple reasons on why tooth colour is yellow ranging from heredity to medicine related & at times even because of mineral content in the water that we drink. We need to focus on the problem now rather than pondering over the reason. You can go in for bleaching or veneers. Bleaching will be comparatively cheaper than veneers but the whiteness attained will be temporary which will fade away in few months depending on the type of coloured food you eat & your oral hygiene habits. On the other hand veneers will be expensive comparatively but will improve your over all smile completely. Not only the colour of your tooth will become whiter but also any gaps or shape of your teeth can be changed to enhance your smile. These changes will be permanent.

Do you think that a fallen tooth is always a waste? That's not true. Saving a fallen tooth can be useful.  Try to keep it in place while you seek immediate medical attention. If that is not the case, try wrapping the tooth in a piece of plastic or soaking it into milk and call for immediate dental service.

An xray will confirm the status of the damaged teeth and then can be treated accordingly as per cosmetic needs. Either a composite filler of the same colour of yr damaged teeth can be used to reconstruct or root canal treatment with colour matched crowns can be made for the teeth depending on tooth conditions.

Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I have oral submucos fibrosis in my mouth. Is it curable? How to cure it? I completely stopped eating arena nuts.

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Gorakhpur
I have oral submucos fibrosis in my mouth.
Is it curable? How to cure it?
I completely stopped eating arena nuts.
OSMF is curable. Depending upon severity of OSMF (HOW MUCH MOUTH OPENING IS PRESENT) treatments varies. Since you have already quit the habit, whatever treatment is required in your case will be very very effective. The most basic treatment is to take antioxidants like lycopene, jaw exercises like keeping wooden spoon bundle in mouth at maximum jaw opening for two times daily for 10 to 15 minutes, increasing one spoon daily until required jaw opening achieved. The most advanced treatment is undergoing LASER surgery for cheek fibers which has excellent outcome in ultra short duration compared to conservative approach. For more details you can personally contact me. THANK YOU.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need root canal treatment. Until then apply clove oil on the decayed tooth. Rinse frequently with mouth wash. Advise c. Amox 500mg 1-1-1, thrice daily, t. Metrogyl 400mg 1-1-1, thrice daily, t. Imol 1-1-1, thrice daily (contraindicated in conditions with gastric ulcer, asthma, wheezing, allergy), c. Becosules 1-0-0 once daily all for 3 days only. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. If your wisdom tooth is erupting in abnormal way, it is advised to get it removed. Otherwise maintain good oral hygiene. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water twice daily for relief. And visit the dentist for examination and proper treatment plan.

If you can save a fallen tooth, then do it. Because it can be useful. Try keeping it it place or wraaping it up in a pice of plastic or soaking it in milk before asking for immediate medical attention.

My front teeth has pain if i drink pepsi or cola i use colgate pro relief paste.

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
That's because the sugar content in your Pepsi and Coke have created demineralisation of the enamel and your dentinal tubules are exposed . Once dentin is reached you will feel sensitivity.Avoid Pepsi, coke and other carbonated cool drinks ,not good for your teeth
