Please get urine pregnancy test done at home. You need to read the results within 5 min of putting urine and even faint line is positive.

Hello Doctor! I and my gf had sex without contraception and took an mpill after 23hrs and had sex again in two hours will it cause pregnancy? It's been a week and she has got mild bleeding is it a sign of pregnancy as her periods are yet to be after ten days or so.

The prevalence of childhood obesity has increased dramatically over the past few decades, and obesity during adolescence is associated with significant medical morbidity during adulthood. Eating disorders and obesity are usually seen as very different problems, but actually share many similarities. Eating disorders (EDs) are the third most common chronic condition in adolescents, after obesity and asthma.

In fact, eating disorders, obesity, and other weight-related disorders may overlap as girls move from one problem, such as unhealthy dieting, to another, such as obesity. Understand the links between eating disorders and obesity and promote healthy attitudes and behaviors related to weight and eating.

What is an Eating Disorder?

Eating Disorders describe illnesses that are characterized by irregular eating habits and severe distress or concern about body weight or shape. Eating disturbances may include inadequate or excessive food intake which can ultimately damage an individual’s well-being. The most common forms of eating disorders include Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder and affect both females and males.

Signs & Symptoms of an Eating Disorder:

A man or woman suffering from an eating disorder may reveal several signs and symptoms, some which are:

  1. Chronic dieting despite being hazardously underweight
  2. Constant weight fluctuations
  3. Obsession with calories and fat contents of food
  4. Engaging in ritualistic eating patterns, such as cutting food into tiny pieces, eating alone, and/or hiding food
  5. Continued fixation with food, recipes, or cooking; the individual may cook intricate meals for others but refrain from partaking
  6. Depression or lethargic stage
  7. Avoidance of social functions, family and friends. May become isolated and withdrawn
  8. Switching between periods of overeating and fasting

What are the health risks associated with these disorders?

  1. Stunted growth.
  2. Delayed menstruation.
  3. Damage to vital organs such as the heart and brain.
  4. Nutritional deficiencies, including starvation.
  5. Cardiac arrest.
  6. Emotional problems such as depression and anxiety.

What is Obesity?

Obesity means being overweight by the accumulation of excess fat within the body. Obesity is defined to some extent by measuring Body Mass Index (BMI). People become obese by consumption of excess calories, imbalance between calories intake and calories outgoing, leading a sedentary life, lack of sleep , disturbances in lipid metabolism and intake of medications that put on obese.

What are the risks associated with obesity?

Obesity increases the risk for:

  1. High blood pressure
  2. Stroke
  3. Cardiovascular disease
  4. Gallbladder disease
  5. Diabetes
  6. Respiratory problems
  7. Arthritis
  8. Cancer
  9. Emotional problems such as depression and anxiety

How eating disorder and obesity are related?

Eating disorders and obesity are part of a range of weight-related problems.

  1. Body dissatisfaction and unhealthy dieting practices are linked to the development of eating disorders, obesity, and other problems.
  2. Binge eating is common among people with eating disorders and people who are obese.
  3. Depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders are associated with both eating disorders and obesity.
  4. The environment may contribute to both eating disorders and obesity.

Healp adolescents develop healthy eating habits:

  • Healp children learn to control their own eating.
  • Offer children a variety of healthy foods at meal and snack times.
  • Eat dinner together as a family most days of the week.
  • Be aware of your child's emotional health or else consult a psychologist
  • Encourage children to participate in sports, dance, swimming and other physical activities.
  • Counteract harmful media messages about body image.

Dear lybrater pcos meas she needs diet control and exercise is a diabetic? is on? lantus regarding food please take salad. Fruits. Any thing prepared by boiling, steam cooking or pressure cooking. Ie our rice chapatti and side dishes. Are all ok. Avoid food prepared in ovens like cake biscuits. Avoid anything fried. Shallow or deep fried to be avoided. Soft drinks and fruit juices contain too much sugar should be avoided. Dry fruits and nuts are also calorific. And limit to 4--5 numbers per day walk for 45 min daily covering 4 km is enough. Try taking only salad and fruits at night.

I am in the 10 week of pregnancy, I felt sudden pain in my lower abdomen, vaginal area and felt I want to urinate frequently, infact went for around 3 times in an hour, I visited my care giver, she mentioned it as a symptom of urine infection and has given ziffi 200 is it the right diagnosis, she has asked me to take plenty of fluids, at the moment i am taking duphston and a ll9 both medicines.

Hi, pain lower abdomen with frequent urination is commonly indicates urinary infection but can also be due to irritability of uterus. So take extra rest and get done your 1- urine complete examination 2- urine for culture & sensitivity of causative organism. As report of culture takes 72 hrs, so you can start - 1- cap. Zifi 200 mg, bd 2- oricitral suspension, 1 tsp. Four times a day with full glass of water drink plenty of fluids e. G. Water, lassi, coconut water, lemon water but not aerated drinks / packed juices. Continue with duphaston, this is to protect pregnancy when you recieve your urine culture report, send immediately to me or show to your doctor. Meanwhile check your temp. Regularly, if any fever, inform me or your doctor.

If the hymenn is very tough then at times is becomes important to incise it. but in most of the cases - good lubrication and proper councelling and cooperation of both partner helps.

Do’s:

• Drink 1 – 2 glasses of lukewarm water early morning to stay healthy and acidity free. Drink more and more water. It is one of the easy Home Remedies to beat acidity. Have a habit to drink warm water after meal at night which helps in proper digestion.
• Coconut water is an effective means for acidity and soothe your digestive system.
• Eat carbohydrate rich food like rice ,which is easy to digest without any acid formation.
• Banana, watermelon and cucumber aid your digestion and good for curing acidity. So, use it in your diet.
• Vegetables like sweet potatoes ,carrot and beet root are effective in fighting acidity. Vegetables such as drumsticks, beans, pumpkin and carrot give you relief from acidity.
• Have dinner two to three hours before sleep, it would ensure food is digested completely and keep you healthy.
• Eat some almonds after every meal, every snack, every time you ingest something basically. Nuts do something to seemingly neutralize the juices in your stomach, relieving and preventing some instances of heartburn.
• Chewing on five to six tulsi leaves when you suffer from acidity is a great way to beat the discomfort you feel.
• Simply chewing on a few saunf seeds can help reduce the symptoms of acidity, as a long term remedy, boil a few seeds in water and leave overnight, drink this water during the day when you feel uneasy.
• Have one teaspoon of amla powder twice a day to help keep acidity at bay.
• Take a probiotic supplement. Probiotics are mixtures of "good" bacteria normally found in your gut.
• Use of honey and water before meals fights acidity.
• You can take cold cow milk before going to bed at night to cure acidity.
• You can chew piece of jaggery after every meal. Potassium present in the jaggery help to balance the stomach acid. Diabetes patients should not take jaggery.
• Sucking ginger is also very beneficial to neutralize stomach acid.
• Exercise daily. Yoga is the best exercise for acidity to cure and reduce it naturally.
• For instant relief from acidity, one should use Jaggery, banana, and yogurt.
• Clove: One piece of clove (laung or lavang) if kept in the mouth for some time can help in reducing acidity. Clove juice that goes into the system with saliva eases the abdomen and stomach greatly.

Dont’s:
• Don’t eat fried and oily food.
• Avoid intake of coffee ,tea and soft drinks.
• Avoid eating citrus fruits ,such as sweet lime and oranges , as they have high acid content.
• Stop smoking and limit your intake of alcohol as both can damage the sphincter and cause acid reflux.
• Avoid late nights ,as inadequate sleep can lead to severe acidity.
• Avoid going to bed immediately after having dinner.
• Do not wear tight clothes and lose weight if you are obese. Yoga and meditation can help lessen stress and reduce heartburn.
• Activities that put too much pressure on the stomach and cause acid reflux, such as bending; lifting heavy objects, straining, and coughing should be reduced as well.

My friend age is 22 years and she is trying for her pregnancy from last 2 yrs. Her last period was june 26th 2016. Still she did not had her periods. She is having a regular periods no problem in that. She and her husband underwent test also. Everything is normal. On July 6th she had fever and took tablets for one week. Last week they went for germany and feeling difficulty to go to hospital because of communication. So please suggest. What to do? They did sex on June 29th and 30th. After that on alternative days they did it for two weeks. Now she is a pregnant or what because still she is not getting her periods.

Hi lybrate-user, she could be pregnant. If pregnancy is their is heaviness in breast, heaviness in body, nausea, altered mouth test. Ask her to get urine pregnancy test with kit which is easy to do. If she can do blood test called serum bhcg that will be better.
