Dear , if you are not constipated and you have genuine prostatic enlargement it will definitely help a lot. Also make sure that you do not have urinary infection. If so add antibiotic like ofloxacin or levofloxacin.

Dear lybrate-user! good morning! I wonder by your drinking capacity, avoid drinking too much water, though water is good, but 15 lit is too much. 1. Eat fruits and vegetables 2. Avoid citrus fruits like lemon, orange 3. Avoid spicy food, fatty food and oily food- it will trigger your ulcer 4. Take cucumber and carrot often to heal the ulcer 5. Take curd and butter milk, it will heal the ulcer very fast 6. Avoid smoking 7. Avoid stress, use rest and relax technique 8. Eat 2 hrs before going to sleep 9. Do not eat more than your threshold level 10.40 minutes everyday to control cholesterol thank you have a nice day

My right side kidney there is stones. so, please tell how to get relief from pain?
What are the size of the stones? stones treatment depends on the types and size of stone, most kidney stones won't require invasive procedures. You may be able to pass a small stone by: drinking water. Drinking as much as 2 to 3 quarts (1.9 to 2.8 liters) a day may help flush out your urinary system. Unless doctor tells you otherwise, drink enough fluid mostly water to produce clear or nearly clear urine. Passing a small stone can cause some discomfort. To relieve mild pain, according to your medical history one may prescribe pain relievers.

Lemon water ------------- hi dear lemon water produces cold in body, so it is of use in summer season. It cleans blood. -u can use lemon -1/4 --1/2--1 piece + glass of fresh water in summer or cold water + salt to taste take it empty stomach early morning you can use it more than once, a day as per your choice. -in winter season-- make its restricted use, only in luke warm water. --too much use of lemon is not good for males, as it can make you sexually weaker. ----------------------------------------- -do not take any gutter mixed or sewerage mixed / dirty water or heavy water -take only fresh clean, healthy water in any city --------------------------------------------- -ganga jal--properly cleaned/ sterilzed-- may be the best water in world or even water from hills near bokaro city--is also very very healthy and rejuvenating ----------------------------------------- - some use of lemon helps in avoiding stone formation but once hard stones are noticed after ultrascan reports, it can't dissolve them out -u will have to take hard stones dissolving remedy course alongwith precautions/diet control/changing life style. E. G. --pathrihar course--1-2 months as per size. Or you can wait till surgery/ lithotripsy etc --------------------------------------------------

Now doctor has advised him for Dialysis twice a week. My question is, Can these kidneys start working after a while? And how long dialysis has to be done? Is there any other treatment along with dialysis to make kidney proper, Or is transplant only the way?

lybrate-user If your uncle kidney have stop working than dialysis is option for time being. In case of acute factor on chronic kidney disease than dialysis may stop in few patients but full recovery in CKD stage 2 is not possible. If kidney is chronic damage stage 4-5 than would be needing dialysis 2-3 times / week.

What Is Lupus Nephritis?

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine, DM - Nephrology
Nephrologist, Bangalore
What Is Lupus Nephritis?

The inflammation of the kidneys as an effect of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is known as Lupus Nephritis. Like lupus, this is an autoimmune disease. Inflammation of the kidneys hinders kidney functioning by not allowing the kidneys to regulate the optimum amount and types of fluids in the body and restricts the removal of waste through urine. It can also cause the protein to leak out of the kidneys. If not managed in time, this can eventually lead to kidney failure by scarring the kidney tissue. However, this is a rare occurrence.

On an average, 6 out of 10 lupus patients suffer from lupus nephritis. In most cases, this disease develops within the first five years of lupus symptoms making their appearance. The symptoms of this disease are mild and can vary from person to person. Very often, the first signs of lupus nephritis become visible only in lab tests as the symptoms are similar to those exhibited by other kidney diseases.

Some of the common symptoms of this condition are:

  1. Swelling of the feet, ankles and calves
  2. High blood pressure
  3. Weight gain
  4. Frothy, dark urine

There are five stages types of this disease and hence, the first step to treating this disease is to identify its type. For this, your doctor will begin with a thorough physical examination and understand your medical history. He or she will also ask for a few tests including urine tests, blood tests, an ultrasound and a kidney biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.

Lupus nephritis is usually treated with corticosteroids and immunosuppressive drugs. Medication may also be prescribed to lower blood pressure and prevent the clotting of blood. However, in some cases, this treatment may not be enough to stop the progression of the disease and some kidney function may be lost. If both kidneys fail, dialysis is the next medical step. This involves the use of a machine in place of the kidneys to filter and removes waste products from the body. This may be followed by the need for a kidney transplant

Since lupus patients are at a high risk of lupus nephritis, here are a few conscious lifestyle changes that can help prevent this condition:

  1. Have a diet that is low in salt
  2. Avoid smoking and alcohol
  3. Exercise regularly
  4. Avoid non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs("pain killers") and unproven alternative medications that can affect the kidneys. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a nephrologist.

Uti is notorious. Recurrent fever is common in uti due to either incomplete treatment or under dosing. Some urinary tract abnormality is also responsible for recurrent uti even after proper tt. C/s of urine may be negative if done during tt with antibiotics. Anyway, if there is no chance of recurrent uti, then thorough investigation is required. Preliminary blood test cbc and gbp/ pbs is needed. I am sure he must be under care of pediatrician and must be taking all precaution as required in lactose intolerance.

3 Best Treatments for Renal Failure!

MBBS, MD - General Medicine, DM - Nephrology, DNB (Nephrology)
Nephrologist, Delhi
3 Best Treatments for Renal Failure!

When your kidney function falls below a certain point, it is referred to as a kidney failure or renal failure. Fortunately, you can still continue to lead a normal life with the right treatment for renal failure. Here are the three best treatments that you can choose depending on your condition and lifestyle:

1. DialysisDialysis is the process that takes over the function of your kidneys to filter out the waste from your blood and maintain the proper balance of chemicals in the blood. You may use dialysis for many years or as a short-term treatment while waiting for a kidney transplant. Dialysis is not a cure for kidney disease, rather it helps you deal with renal failure. It is life-saving and without it, the kidneys will no longer function.

There are two types of dialysis treatments that you can choose from:

  • Hemodialysis – This type uses a machine to remove waste from the blood and sends it back to your body. It can be done at home or at a dialysis center.
  • Peritoneal Dialysis – This type uses the lining of your belly called the Peritoneum to do the work of your kidneys. A catheter and dialysis solution is used to carry out the function.

There are benefits and complications for each type of dialysis. The treatment decision will largely depend on the patient’s illness and their past medical history. Discuss with your doctor to decide the best option for you.

2. Kidney Transplant: Kidney transplants can provide a better quality of life than dialysis and can be seen as a potential cure for kidney failure. A healthy kidney from a live donor or deceased donor is surgically placed in your body as a replacement to the failed kidneys. Although this may be a better option for you, it has certain shortcomings. There is an element of rejection and you may have to wait for a long time to get a donor. Extensive testing and anti-rejection medications are prescribed with this treatment.

3. Palliative Care: Rather than cure, it is the care that people with serious illness need. With so much to deal with, the patients have an array of tough questions and challenges to deal with. Patients need to take into account all medical options and care options based on their condition and severity of the renal failure.

Making the right treatment choice is difficult and that too when you are ill. It is normal to be fearful and worried about the risks involved. Get support from your family and doctor to help you make the right treatment choice. It may also be helpful to visit a dialysis or transplant center to talks to others who have been through these treatments. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Nephrologist.

In my view you should have through check up like lft-liver function test, kft- kidney function test, you need surgical or minimal invasive intervention like lithotripsy -using ultrasound shock waves, by which a kidney stone or other calculus is broken into small particles that can be passed out by the body.

How Ayurveda Helps Deal With Kidney Issues?

How Ayurveda Helps Deal With Kidney Issues?

Two kidneys are present on either side of the spine, above the waist. The kidneys perform important functions of cleansing the blood, controlling blood pressure and maintaining salt and mineral balances. Kidney related issues are to be treated as soon as they occur as failing to do so might lead to kidney failure, which is a serious condition.

Ayurvedic approach for treating kidney related problems
Each type of medical treatment has their distinctive approaches towards such treatment and so does Ayurvedic care. The weak body is toned up in a natural way in the first stage. The second stage is the prevention of diseases using natural remedies and the final stage is treatment through ayurvedic care.

Causes for kidney related issues and Ayurvedic care for such issues
The causes for kidney related issues are toxins, anatomical abnormalities, abiotic stress, mental imbalance, the easy entrance of microvita, and side effects of various allopathic medicines. One major reason for kidney related problems is the side effects of modern medicines or over dosage of allopathic medication. On the contrary, the medication system of Ayurveda effectively treats all the issues in a natural way without imposing ill-effects to the human body.

When to seek Ayurvedic care?
A few symptoms, the occurrence of which indicates that you should consult a doctor for checking of kidney related issues are nausea, weakness, ankle swelling, vomiting and shortness of breath. A few other symptoms are high blood pressure or urea and decreased hemoglobin. If these symptoms are due to kidney related problems, Ayurveda cure for kidney related issues is one of the best options for recovery.

Prevention of kidney failure- Ayurveda treatment to avoid dialysis
"Prevention is better than cure." If kidney problems arise, it is best to take preventive measures to avoid kidney failure. A few things that help in preventing kidney failure are controlling blood pressure, controlling blood sugar and improving breathing pattern. Diet plays a major role in preventing kidney failure. Ayurveda approach insists the change of acidic diet to an alkaline one. Diabetes and blood sugar can also lead to kidney failure. According to Ayurveda, natural remedies are available to treat chronic kidney failure patients. Dialysis can be avoided and the kidney functions can be restored with the help of a few herbal remedies in the Ayurveda approach. The level of creatinine and urea are controlled effectively by Ayurveda treatment

Recovery using Ayurveda care for kidney failure patients
Kidney damage for a period of 3 months or more is known as chronic kidney failure. The treatment of underlying cause, treatment of damaged kidneys and treatment of dhatus (body tissues) which makes up the kidneys are done in the case of Ayurvedic care. The kidneys are made up of "Rakta" and "Meda" and treating these two will lead to recovery. The benefits of using Ayurvedic medications for kidney related issues are plenty. The kidney damage is recovered, the risk of death can be reduced to a significant extent and frequency of dialysis can be minimized effectively. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ayurveda.
