Painful and burning urination is very common. The pain, burning, or stinging can indicate a number of medical conditions. 1.common sign of a urinary tract infection (UTI. 2.if you have kidney stones 3.inflammation in the vagina or in the region around the vaginal opening (called vulvovaginitis) can be painful when exposed to urine. Inflammation that results in burning or pain is usually caused by infection but sometimes by noninfectious conditions. 1.drink lots of water =One of the first things to do when you have a urinary tract infection is to drink plenty of water, because drinking water can help flush away the bacteria that's causing your infection, 2.Load Up on Vitamin C for a Healthy Urinary Tract. 3.When you have a UTI, caffeine, alcohol, spicy food, nicotine, carbonated drinks, and artificial sweeteners can irritate your bladder further. 4.Every time you empty your bladder — even if it’s just a small amount — you rid it of some of the bacteria causing the infection.

For husband, semen test is necessary. For wife, hsg test. Then, if both are normal and her periods are regular, try for pregnancy between 10th to 20th day of cycle for next 3 months.

Heavy Bleeding- A Sign of Adenomyosis

Heavy Bleeding- A Sign of Adenomyosis

Adenomyosis is a condition which occurs when the muscle wall of the uterus is broken by the endometrium lining. You experience pressure in the lower abdomen, menstrual cramps and bloating, before the onset of menstrual periods, resulting in heavy bleeding during the periods. This disorder is not life threatening but is known to cause pain and heavy bleeding.

Symptoms-

The symptoms of adenomyosis are severe pain during periods, prolonged periods and pressure in the abdominal area. You may also experience heavy bleeding during the periods and may also experience intense pain. Sex may be very painful as well. The lower abdomen might feel tender and bigger; this occurs when the size of the uterus increases in this particular condition.

Causes-

The exact cause of this disorder is not yet ascertained. However, certain possible causes could be:

  1. Congenital Defect: In this case, the condition is known to occur from birth wherein the endometrial tissue grows on the uterine muscle wall during the fetus formation.
  2. Invasive Growth of Tissues: This is said to occur when endometrial cells invade the uterus lining, leading to adenomyosis. This can also be triggered by a C-section operation.
  3. Inflammation During Childbirth: During the childbirth process, inflammation may occur in the lining of the uterus leading to this disorder.

In addition to the possible cause, there are certain risk factors which increase the risks of the disorder, such as:

  1. Aging

  2. Giving birth to a child

  3. Surgery related to the uterus such as a C-section

Treatment-

Once you reach menopause, this disorder tends to subside. So depending on how close you are to menopause, the treatment is designed accordingly. The various treatments for adenomyosis are –

  1. Anti-inflammatory Medications: If you are nearing menopause, then anti-inflammatory medications will be administered. This helps in reducing pain and the heavy blood flow.

  2. Hormone Medications: Hormone medications such as hormone patches can also help with the bleeding and pain.

  3. Hysterectomy: If the pain turns intense, then the doctor may recommend hysterectomy, a surgery to remove the uterus. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

Can we expect the pregnancy even after two periods. And four negative home pregnancy tests. I took ipill a month ago and tge periods in previous month was delayed for 2 weeks and this month my cycle is regular as usual. I did took 4 urine home pregnancy tests each with a weeks gap. Please advice can there be still any chances of pregnancy?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist,
Can we expect the pregnancy even after two periods. And four negative home pregnancy tests.
I took ipill a month ago ...
No, if 4 urine tests have shown negativity, and if they have been done properly, if you have had a menses this month then the chances of pregnancy are not there. Stop doing these urine tests. You took an ipill to prevent a pregnancy, it doesnot cause an abortion. The fact that you had a menses, even if delayed, after taking ipill it means that you have not become pregnant in last month. If your ipill were to fail and you were to become pregnant in last month, your menses would not have come.

White discharge which is not cured since 2 years needs thorough evaluation by a gynecologist. Pap smear and microscopic testing of the fluid should be done to find out the exact cause, accordingly it can be treated.

I presume that you mean that, when you get up after sex to pass urine, some semen also comes out of the vagina. This is normal and most of the semen will come out. That is not to be worried. But if you are just 19 and not married, please use some contraceptive.

There is no evidence that suggests sex is contraindicated in pregnancy as long as there are no issues with vaginal bleeding or leakage or any pregnancy related complications.
