I'm diagnosed with Pcos very recently. And I have already started with the medication. My insulin level is also increased. What I actually want to know is the Dr. has decided to work on controlling my insulin level by medicine. But she's hasn't given me any medicine for my menstrual cycle regularisation. Nor has she asked me to follow any particular diet. I have a little idea that in pcos there are a few things to avoid. But I completely clue about what exactly is it. I what to know any and all possibly things about pcos and the do's and don't's.

The medicine which will work for increased sugar level will I metformin also works for pcos, so don't worry, it will help in regularisation of menses. The main thing you have to do is try to reduce your weight. Avoid eating food containing carbohydrate instead eat fibrous food. Avoid sweets. The problem with pcos is for pregnancy as there is formation of cyst around the ovum in ovary due to which the realease is obstructed.

Pain In Hands - How Can It Be Relieved?

MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics, Fellowship in Shoulder Surgery

Pain In Hands - How Can It Be Relieved?

Every day we use our hands the most to get everything done. From drinking water to typing on the keyboard (and today on mobile phones); from holding the newspaper still when reading it to taking down academic notes- we use our hands for everything. But our hands like all other parts of the body have the capacity to carry out their functions. At times, we unknowingly put a lot of strain on our hands and they start to pain. Hand pains are quite common in everyone and it is equally common to practice certain exercises to control them quickly.

If you experience frequent pains in the hands, these are some of the exercises you can resort to.

  1. Fist: You do not always make a fist while punching people. Sometimes you make a fist to tighten your hand muscles and nerves and smoothen the blood flow in your hands. This helps in reducing the pain in your hands to a great extent. In fact, folding your hand to a fist can also help in preventing hand pain.

  2. Finger Bends: Bend each finger tightly towards your palm for at least a minute and then release it. Do it separately for each of the five fingers on your hand. This would ease out the tension in each of the fingers and normalize blood flow. This helps in curing any finger pain that you might be experiencing. It is especially a great exercise to prevent pain from developing in your thumb and index finger.

  3. Thumbs Up: Usually, we show the thumbs up sign to signal all is well and best wishes to people. But it is also an exercise if continued for some time. All you have to do is place your palm on a table and curl all your fingers except the thumb inwards. Stretch the thumb outwards and hold it in this position counting up to ten. Then curl your thumb towards the palm. This exercise too helps in stretching the muscles.

  4. Wrist: An important part of the hand is the wrist. The wrist joints are a very crucial set of bones and they tend to get injured very fast. They are also delicate enough to be sprained if the hand is turned abruptly. To avoid such injuries, strengthen the wrist and reduce wrist pain, a lot of wrist exercises are also prescribed. The simplest one is to extend your hand and move the wrist in anti-clockwise and clockwise directions.

Thus, these are some of the ways in which you can ease the pain in your hand in no time and go about normally with your daily chores. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

Hi, I took blood test due to pcod, in my result LH- luteinizing hormone is 9.99. Doctor said that this lh level is very high. But it is curable only. She given pills for that. My doubt is when it will cure or want to do any surgery for this. If lh is high means what will happen. I am expecting my pregnancy. Can you please tell normal level in lh. My lh level is 9.99.

It depends on the timing in the cycle when you had it done. Also the fsh to lh ratio is important as a value greater than 3 is suggestive of pco. A value of 9.9 is high though. I would advise you to take the medicines your doctor advised and discuss pregnancy with him so that a few ofthe medicines can be changed.

Natural or Cesarean Delivery: Which One Should You Prefer?

Natural or Cesarean Delivery: Which One Should You Prefer?

Child deliveries during pregnancies are of two types. If you are pregnant or have someone in your family who is then you can either go for caesarean section (or C-section) delivery or normal delivery, which is also known as vaginal delivery. In some case C-section delivery is chosen by your doctor as it may be a safer option in case you have some health complications. Diabetes, high blood pressure or herpes can cause complication that may in advance let you know whether the delivery procedure would be C-section or the normal one. Here are the pro and cons of both the procedure.

Natural Delivery: Benefits and Disadvantages

  1. Shorter stay in the hospital and time for recovery can help you in case of normal delivery.
  2. It may be physically painful but at the end of the day as it is a natural delivery method and you will experience less postpartum pain.
  3. There would be lesser chances of respiratory problems in your baby.
  4. Normal delivery may cause fear and anxiety which may lead to huge complications. Even your baby may face the risk of being deprived of oxygen from cord compression.
  5. It is also more painful and unpredictable.
  6. There may be increased chances of pelvic organ prolapses in normal section deliveries.

C-section: Benefits and Disadvantages

  1. You will be well in advance told about the delivery date by your doctor and hence planning is made easy. 2. If you have any infection like herpes chances of your baby being is reduced by c section delivery.
  2. There will be lesser risk of pelvic floor injury and few cases of urinary continence.
  3. There will be no risk of birth related trauma like bruises and swelling.
  4. There are surgical risks of anesthesia which can cause severe adverse side effects like headache, nausea and vomiting
  5. There are also chances of heart attacks and blood clotting in veins. You may also have chances of postpartum infection in c section delivery.
  6. Numbness around the area of operation and bleeding may require a hysterectomy which is a surgery to remove the uterus.

There are many other pro and cons of the two methods of delivery and you should always consult your doctor and follow proper medications for better delivery of the newborn.

Last night me and my girlfriend had oral sex, I fingered her and she's just 16, in the morning she's feeling some pain on left side little bit above from vagina, is it a serious problem?

Hi lybrate-user it could be due to local irritation or some infection. Please visit gynaecologist for internal examination to rule out infection. If is releived in 2-3 days then don't worry. But if persistent needs evaluation.

Get torch test done, this is to diagnose 5 types of infections which can cause abortions but can be treated before woman get pregnant again. Get ultrasound done which will show pid -pelvic inflammatory disease which too has treatment. Hi, it might be because of implantation bleeding, which usually occurs this time. If ultrasound report is normal then just relax. Continue with whatever tablet your doctor has prescribed.
