Some of them are severe myoclonic epilepsy of infancy which is also called Dravet syndrome, then is Unverricht-Lundborg disease also called Baltic myoclonus, Lafora disease and finally Mitochondrial encephalopathies.

Causes and triggering factors of epilepsy seizures

There is no known medication which can lead to life time recovery in Parkinson disease. Syndopa is not a pain killer, it only replaces dopa in body which is deficient in patients of Parkinson disease. Long term usage of syndopa can lead to certain expected side effects and in that case you need to consult your neurologist so that dose of medication can be modified. Yes, cycling, walking and yoga will be helpful for your disease and it is advisable that you should continue with same.

Hi doctor, I have epilpsy problem and undergoing medication (taking epilex crono 300mg daily) just want to know for any permanent solution and root cause of this and preventive steps to be taken. Thank you in advance.

MBBS, MD - Medicine, DM - Neurology
Neurologist, Ghaziabad
First you should get evaluated for the cause of epilepsy. It will require investigation like mri brain (with epilepsy protocol) and eeg. You may require further investigation based upon the results of above. Minimum dose of medication you are taking depends upon the weight of patient. If you are a adult, this does is less for you. Its better to consult a neurologist for proper management and treatment.

What are the symptoms of migraine. If the nerve of neck get stiff then do I consult the doctor for assessment. Is it asign of migraine. Because I continuously work on system.

BPT, MPT - Orthopedic Physiotherapy
Physiotherapist, Sangrur
Hello lybrate user I think you are asking about headache. It's depending upon the site or area of head. As you have already mentioned regular sitting work on computer system. So firstly it can be neck pain because of long time your neck having or attained same position. It gets muscle weakness and pain. Secondly due to over stressed eyes like vision problem can also create head pain but surrounding eyes and forehead. If headache has been not treated it tends to be converted in migraine. You can consult to good physician.

I am 53 years old and diabetic for the last 20 years. My sugar level is under control for the last 1 year hb1 c is 7....
Good control of diabetes over time is the key to treating diabetic neuropathy. There is no cure for neuropathy, but keeping your blood sugar within a target range can reduce symptoms and prevent them from getting worse. To help control your diabetes, eat food that is good for you and exercise. Controlling diabetes means maintaining blood sugar levels (a1c) within the target range. This will do more than anything else to help prevent diabetic neuropathy from getting worse. Initial and ongoing treatment treatment for diabetic neuropathy depends on your symptoms and the type of neuropathy that you have. In general, treatment focuses on reducing current symptoms and preventing the condition from getting worse by keeping your blood sugar level within your target range. You can keep your blood sugar levels within the target range by taking your insulin or oral diabetes medicine as prescribed, checking your blood sugar levels, following your diet for diabetes, exercising, and seeing your doctor regularly can use vitamin e tablet and if you do not get relief you contact bacl wish you good health regards

My father whole leg jerk sometimes in a week. When he sees leg or has his mind towards leg, jerk frequency increases. And if we indulge his mind towards other things Like in talking etc. Jerk become slower and gradually goes. He is also suffering from depression. Can this jerking be associated to parkinson disease? Why or why not. Help.

My father whole leg jerk sometimes in a week.
When he sees leg or has his mind towards leg, jerk frequency increases....
First consult a neurologist to rule out any neurological cause. In some movement disorders, the symptoms reduce on distraction. Hence that factor cannot be used to diagnose. For a patient to have Parkinson's disease, other features like tremors, rigidity, bradykinesia, etc also need to be present. Once it is ruled out, consult a psychiatrist. In some patients, depression and anxiety often manifests as a physical symptom. If he is on medication, ensure it is in supervised capacity.
