1. Sleep well and regular. Irregular sleep can have some serious consequences. It affects both our physical health and also contributes to anxiety and stress. Anxiety as such also leads to disruptions in sleep. When feeling anxious, always try to get a full 7 to 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep and it can work wonders to improve your condition. 2. Always keep smiling. Take a quick break in between your hectic work to get some laughs with your friends. Laughter can reduce depression and anxiety and has proven benefits. 3. Tidy up your living space or workspace. Keep your things clean and clutter-free. That helps us think clear and thus reducing levels of anxiety. 4. Say thank you often. Expressing your thanks for something helps reduce anxiety. 5. Eat smart. Eating more of foods which are rich in vitamin B and omega-3 fatty acids and also healthy whole grain carbs. Vitamin B contributes to good mental health. While omega 3 fatty acids help with both depression and anxiety. Whole grain foods boost serotonin and helps us remain poised. Eating high-sugar content food and processed foods can increase levels of anxiety. 6. Learn to breathe well and relax. Short, shallow breaths arise when you are tensed. So consciously breathing deeply, plus increasing the duration and depth of breathing helps relax the body and mind to a great extent. 7. Meditate. Meditation has so many positive effects on stress, mood, and anxiety. Club meditation with positive thinking to improve your general well-being and overall health. Yoga is also very effective to take off stress from the body and mind by deep relaxation and breathing techniques. 8. Chill and be silent. Reduce the noise and clutter talk that contributes to anxiety. Find time for yourself and be alone to muse upon your own matters without anyone disturbing you. 9. Worry. Yes, we can cause ourselves to freak out, but only for a certain amount of time. When something weighs heavily on your mind, or you believe something terrible is most definitely going to occur, commit to only creating that worry for 20 minutes. Think of all the possible outcomes of the scenario, figure out some game plans, and then quit thinking about it after 20 minutes go by. Have a friend call after the allotted time has passed to avoid the temptation of going over the time limit. Or schedule some of that playtime right afterward. 10. Plan for the future but do not worry about it. Make time tables and to-do lists so that you will not be worried about finishing stuff and so that you can increase your productivity. 11. Be positive. When you feel anxious, train your mind to think and feel positive and give reinforcement to yourself that you can handle any situation. This will significantly reduce your stress and anxiety symptoms. 12. Smell relaxing stuff. Go out to your garden. Smell a fresh rose. Take a deep breathe and allow the relaxation to course through your whole body. You can also use relaxing aroma therapy and use it indoors. 13. Go out and spend time with your friends and family. Spend time with your pets Social support reduces anxiety and stress to such a great extent that it is almost always bearable. So next time you get on your nerves, go out with your friends, chat with them, watch a movie, spend some time watching the waves in the beach with your partner, talk to your siblings. Parkinson's Disease: Dos and Don'ts

Parkinson’s disease affects the part of the brain that controls muscle movement. The exact cause of this disease is not known, but there is a decrease in a chemical called dopamine in the brains of people with parkinson’s. There is no cure for parkinson’s, but it often progresses slowly and the signs can be managed.

Signs

The 4 most common signs of parkinson’s are:

• tremors or shaking when at rest

• muscle stiffness

• slowed movement or problems starting movement

• problems with balance and movement

As these signs worsen, you may also have trouble walking, talking, swallowing or doing simple tasks such as bathing or dressing. As the disease progresses, other signs such as pain, bowel or bladder problems and sleep problems may occur.

Your care

When you start to show signs of this disease, your doctor may order anti parkinsonian medicines or may also suggest some physical therapy to help manage your signs. The physical therapist can help you learn exercises, prescribed by a physiatrist, that can help you with movements.

You may need to work with your doctor to make adjustments in your medicines to keep your signs controlled. Over time, many people have side effects from the medicines used to treat parkinson’s disease, but they can be managed well.

You may also need occupational therapy or speech therapy to deal with signs as the disease progresses. As your signs get worse, surgery may be an option to reduce tremors.

Things you can do to manage your signs

When walking

• walk slowly with a straight posture and with your legs further apart. Think about taking big steps to help keep your steps more normal.

• use a 4-prong cane or a walker if needed.

• if you become stuck or freeze in one place, rock gently from side to
Side or pretend to step over an object on the floor.

• place tape strips on the floor to guide you through your house.
Remove area rugs and furniture from your walking path.

• stand up from a chair or bed slowly to avoid feeling dizzy or
Lightheaded.

When using the bathroom

• install grab bars on the walls, beside toilets and inside showers and bathtubs to help you stand up.

• use a shower chair inside the shower.

• install an elevated toilet seat to make standing up easier after using the toilet.

• shave with an electric razor.

When dressing

• wear loafers or shoes with velcro.

• wear simple dresses or pants with elastic waistbands such as sweatpants.


When eating or drinking

• use a cup with a large handle to make it easier to hold.

• use a bowl instead of a plate to limit spills and make it easier to scoop up food.


Work closely with your health care team to manage your signs of parkinson’s disease.

I do understand your problem, being at the stage of achieving in your studies or career goals, really it is a difficult situation. But, you are not alone. Everybody has this problem in varying degrees. Only the intensity is more in your case. We call this performance anxiety. Fear of failure increases the anxiety furthermore that acts as a barrier to good performance. Nothing to worry. You can easily overcome this problem if you have a strong will to change and practice a few suggestions mentioned below. 1. Learn and practice the techniques kapalabhati and naadisuddhi from a good yoga teacher, which can reduce your physiological arousal such as heart palpitation, rapid breathing, uneasiness in the stomach, sweating, shivering etc. Whenever you face such fearful situations. 2. Also do santhiasana/savaasana 10 minutes everyday using an recorded voice instruction of your yoga teacher (i can upload mine if you contact through private question). This regular practice will soothen your nervous system and calms your mind down. 3. You can also practice mental rehearsal, sit with closed eyes and imagine that you are performing in a stage without fear, repeatedly. 4. One more techinique is graded exposure in which you can approach the feared situations in divided targets. For example, you can present your speach in front of a friend till you feel good, then present in front of a few people like your parents or other relatives till you feel easy. Then to a group of 10 people and so on. 5. Aqequate preparation is also an important component. Efforts never fail.

I am a 56 yrs old, male. I have diabetes (hereditary) and high blood pressure. Diabetes is around two old. Pressure is under control. Presently my feet (both), at the toe end, the under sloe below the toes get swelled up and numb, also the toes get numb. This has happened when my diabetes reading had gone upto 230. Be specific whether your diabetes is too old or two years old. Because you can get numbness because of uncontrolled diabetes of longer duration resulting in diabetic neuropathy. Some times nutritional def can also can give you similar trouble. Get your hba1c, s, proteins, s creat, tsh, cbc, s. B12 levels done.

I am 67 years old and have under control levels diabetic, cholesterol and b. P. Some months back I had mild giddiness when I tilted my head downwards. Doctor prescribed medicine like stemmatil mild dose and dvised it due to old age when enough blood may not be going to brain and advised caution as the best cure to avoid downward jerks to head. Tia is a warning sign of stroke. So you have to worry but not that much. I understand about your phobia about getting again same problem but dear if you maintain yourself and take some precautions then chances are very less. Please make sure: 1. If you are overweight try to reduce. 2. Brisk walking daily for 30 minutes. 3. Cardiovascular exercises daily for endurance and strength and to make your heart fit. 4. Regular intake of excess water in your diet. 5. Avoid junk food, carbohydrates. 6. Take healthy diet that enrich you with proteins, vitamins. 7. If diabetic make sure sugar level should be maintained. 8. If hypertensive, make sure bp should not reach to too high or too low along with hr. 9. Avoid stressful life. 10. Meet some physio and learn daily exercises that will keep you fit and healthy along with some modification in your lifestyle. 11. Avoid fasting - eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at fixed timings. 12. Make yourself busy by fulfilling your hobby as it will give you freshness and your mind will be diverted from normal life. 13. Take min 7 hours of sleep. 14. Avoid taking caffeine, alcohol, phenylethylamine (found in chocolate and cheese), tyramine (found in nuts and fermented meats, cheeses, and soy), and aspartame (in many artificially sweetened foods) as sometimes these all exaggerate the condition. Instead use basil leaves tea or ginger tea boiled nicely in water without milk. Do not worry about getting tia / cva. If you keep yourself relax and avoid stress you will be healthy and then no disease no tia.

At your age migraine is common especially in young females with stress of studies to add. Migraine is a relapsing kind of headache. The treatment of migraine is mainly done for relief from acute headache attacks and later treatments to prevent future relapses. Treatment of factors like anxiety, strata, depression, vitamin deficiencies etc which tend to cause relapses is also important. There is no drug of choice or as such a best medicine for migraine. Hi no you should not do any of these. Not drink cold water, or soft drink, nor sit in an ac room. This is because the nerve is already irritated. You need to start with physiotherapy treatment as early as possible as first 21 days following attack, are the most crucial for complete recovery of nerve.
