Hi it can be overuse injury. Apply cold pack for 20 min. Thrice a day for 5 days. Still pain doesn't go consult physiotherapist or contact me via lybrate. Wishing you a good health.

My wife 69 years had sprained her ankle in young age. It troubles her now with swelling and walking problem. She had tried special footwear with soling inside. Advise.

Good it might of recurred due to degenerative changes and tried with special footwear do continue the same and get it clinically examined by musculoskeletal physiotherapist to start ift and laser therapy to relieve the pain of 15 day course regularly best wishes

Sir I have a pain in my spinal chord exactly in middle of the backbone. This injury caused due to lifting a weight I have consult one of the Ortho in my local area he prescribed a medicines but not clearly hill the pain. I used work whole day before this but now I can't do work for 2 hours also. So kindly suggest what should I do?

This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain. It looks like you are anaemic. If you have back pain after you sit for long hours then it is due to your haemoglobin levels as it is important to check that. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back / leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. Ice can be kept in the low back where you have back pain. It is suggestible to wear Lumbo sacral belt which would help you to build the abdominal muscle tone which itself would make you feel better. You can also wear MCR chappals which would help you to have less weight falling in the painful back.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana? lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

I am 19 years old, I am having pain in the tail of my backbone. I think it is called coccyx. I had the same pain when I was 17; when did an ultrasound scan doctor told there was puss and the puss was removed manually without any minor surgery or anything. I am experiencing the same pain after 2 years I am doing my btech long away from my home. I am very concerned. What should I do. Is this normal?

Hi this is not normal. First we have to rule out infection as you have a history of same. If it is not infective than start ice therapy alonge with frequent change of posture while sitting. Also use a soft cushion. Avoid longe sitting on hard surface. Do squeezing exercises for perineal area & buttucks. Try to sit on hips & cross your legs frequently to change weight.
