Any HDL level above more than 60 mg/dL (1.56 mmol/L) is considered high. A high HDL level is considered very healthy, since it has a protective role in guarding against heart disease. An acceptable HDL range is between 40- 60 mg/dL (1.04–1.56 mmol/L). An undesirable level of HDL is any level below 40 mg/dL (1.04 mmol/L). In this case, low HDL levels may help to contribute to heart disease. Very Low Density Lipoproteins Very low density lipoproteins, or VLDL, are lipoproteins that carry cholesterol from the liver to organs and tissues in the body. They are formed by a combination of cholesterol and triglycerides. VLDLs are heavier than low density lipoproteins, and are also associated with atherosclerosis and heart disease. This number is obtained by dividing your triglyceride levels by 5.

Hello dear High cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. garlic,. Take anti cholesterol medicines .

Little vibration are generally twitching of muscles. Not to worry. If pain is more intense and lasts longer than 10 minutes than definitely you need to work out the cause as you are diabetic. It is good that you are doing regular exercise.

How to reduce cholesterol i.e LDL. what to do?
Fight cholesterol with food by making these simple changes to your diet and lifestyle There is little doubt that choice of food is the best medicine not just for a sound and healthy heart but also for lowering blood cholesterol levels. This is best done by cutting back on saturated fats and limiting other cholesterol-rich foods. Says holistic health guru, "About 80 per cent of the body's cholesterol is manufactured in the liver and 20 per cent is derived from dietary sources. By itself the cholesterol found in food is safe but becomes a health concern when it gets oxidised as is seen in processed foods, cakes and cake mixes, cured and processed meats, dehydrated milk." Food sources The most common sources of dietary cholesterol are animal products like eggs, red meat, dairy products and shellfish like prawns. Many people often ask if eggs are hazardous to health. Says Mehta, "The truth is that if you are leading a healthy and active lifestyle and if you have normal cholesterol levels, having 3-4 eggs a week will not cause much harm. Saturated animal fats and transfats found in processed foods are the real enemies." Healthy digestion and consumption of healthy fibre-rich foods help to maintain a constant level of cholesterol in the blood stream. But this level can change or rise with age, a diet high in saturated fats and a poor lifestyle. "A diet high in polyunsaturated fats and fibre helps to lower levels of blood cholesterol while a diet high in meats, cream, full cream dairy products and white flour tends to increase the amount of cholesterol in the blood thereby increasing the risk of heart diseases," says Mehta. Good and bad cholesterol A common question that is often asked is how to increase the good cholesterol known as HDL (high-density lipoproteins) and how to decrease the bad cholesterol known as LDL (low-density lipoproteins). This can be done by increasing your intake of fruits, vegetables like greens, broccoli, capsicums and other high-fibre vegetables. It's also advised to increase one's consumption of oils that have beneficial effects on your health. Oils high in omega-3 fats found in soya beans, walnuts, fish oils, flax seed oil and olive oil are useful in raising the HDL levels. Restricting your intake of foods like saturated fats from red meats, cheese, cream, high fat milk, junk foods and processed foods will go a long way in reducing your LDL or the bad cholesterol.

How can the chest pains distinguish as heart problems or not in case of a middle aged man who is a smoker?
Chest pain that is central, not localised, radiating to arms and neck, associated with sweating, aggravated by activity and relieved by rest is typical of cardiac pain. Usually that is constricting or sqeezing or heavy pressure like feeling. Chest pain which is not central, licalised to left or rifht side, not radiating, pricking or aching type, aggravates while breathing is usually of non cardiac origin.
