1. Do a complete blood examination like cbc, esr, mantoux test, x ray chest, sputum examination for afb (3 samples) 2. Consult chest physician with report. 3 do warm saline gurgling 3-4 times daily 4. Avoid smoking if you smoke 5. If all the test reports are normal, it could be due to allergy. Do an allergy test after consulting allergist/immunologist and follow the advice and treatment.

As you are suffering from asthma, get yourself investigated, specially a PFT test PFTshould be done to know the severity of asthma. As asthma is inflamatory disorder of airways, you need to take combination of formetrol and budesonide by inhalation.you may have to take medicine for a long time.Kindly discontinue allegra if not having running nose, sneezing or nasal block.

Most often it's viral infection. Fever usually settles down in 3 to 4 days. Cough takes 7 to 10 days. Continue same treatment. Small children get frequent infections because of low immunity.

I am 18 years old I get cold before two days. I am critical to breathe air. Please advise me. How to clear this cold.

M.D - Respiratory medicine

You have most probably allergy of lungs and nose and sinus. I do not believe in a detailed prescription to any body without examination and detailed case file since it is against medical council of india guidelines.

Does day care, preschool, etc. Have an effect on children developing allergies or asthma?

MD - Homeopathy, Masters Degree of Homoeopathy
Homeopath, Mumbai
Hi lybrate-user, as per your question, this places can only contribute if they have following factor's, 1. Unhygienic environment, 2. Children's with similar complaints, 3. Asthma triggering environment, above all child with weak immunity becomes susceptible to similar complaint's. In any case right treatment from homoeopathic consultant will help you to not only overcome the issues but will also provide right immunity to tackle them.

I am 38 year old and having cold, with sneezing and cough for last one month taking homoeopathy medicine. Please suggest.

MBBS
General Physician, Cuttack
1. Do steam inhalation by steam inhaler 2-3 times daily with karvol plus inhalant capsule 2. Put otrivin nasal drop 1 drop thrice daily. 3. Take one tablet of levocetrizine (5mg) at bed time. 4. Drink lukewarm water/hot soup/herbal tea etc 5. If you have recurrent attack of cold you may be having sinusitis/allergic rhinitis 6. Take plain xray pns/ct scan of pns after consulting ent specialist to exclude sinusitis and take treatment accordingly 7. If sinusitis is excluded, it I could be due to allergic rhinitis, do an allergy test after consulting allergy specialist/immunologist to find out the cause of allergy and follow the treatment and advice accordingly.

I have trouble breathing during the night. Ent doctor says that my right nostril is blocked and requires surgery. He says because of this my bp is high 160/120 when I wake up in the morning. Bp should be normal when a person wakes up. Is this true? I snore very loudly and sometimes have trouble getting deep sleep. I have been prescribed starpress 25 and stalopam mini plus to be take daily before sleep. Is this ok? any side effets of these?

MD - Alternative Medicine
Alternative Medicine Specialist, Mumbai
Weight? snoring nose is identified as silent killer in this fast life. If prescription work then good ,failing that surgery is the only option after sleep study n other test due to disturbance in sleep. For raised BP we have some solution between a time, so consult with full details in most of cases modern system of medicine has side effects, n its noted that dose increases periodically. You can also confirm with your doctor for your doubt.

My father has breathing problem and frequently he has lot of cough. He has lot of problem in breathing those times. He takes inhaler two times a day. When the problem increases he has to use nebulizer three times a day. Sir, you tell some name of medicines which can cure my father.

DNB(Respiratory Diseases), MBBS
Pulmonologist, Jabalpur
These type of symptoms in elderly patients are usually due to copd. In this lung disease, patient has cough with phelgm production with breathing problems, which increases in between causing more problem in those days. Common in people who have been smoker or exposed to pollution, dust, gaseous etc. This disease is best managed by inhalers containing bronchodilator medicines, but the best treatment remain quitting smoking. But the sad part is like many other diseases, this disease is manageable and treatable, but not curable.
