Hi, I am 31 years old. Under my arms small round balls on bothside its lymphoma they are increasing the size of it. What remedies do you suggests to prevent from it ?

DNB (ENT), MBBS
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
Hi . These lymph nodes need to be evaluated. If it is indeed a lymphoma and if that has been diagnosed for you before then that is a very serious condition and it cannot be prevented. These nodes will need to be surgically removed along with other medications.

Pain in shoulder may be due to spondylitis. Please get mri cervical spine done and consult orthopaedic doctors. Cancer presents with lump, abnormal uncontrolled bleeding, pain etc but we must rule out routine causes before thinking that it's cancer.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking clarification. Well, as I understand, primary heart cancers are extremely rare the exact reason of which is not clearly known. However, metastatic heart cancers occur more frequently than the primary heart cancers, and the same is usually treated conventionally like other cancer types. Simultaneously, it is understood that an integrative treatment with alternative medicines helps improve clinical outcomes too. Hope this clarifies. Take care. Sincerely,

I am 33 years old I have lipomas multiple in my body does they do any harm to me what can I do I asked about it to my doctor but he said if I want to remove he will do surgery but I want to know whether they cause cancer in future.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. Lipomas are benign, and the risk of them getting malignant is usually very low. Nevertheless, should it be concerning you owing to cosmetic reasons, you may decide to get them surgically removed. Simultaneously, I would advise you to take care of your dietary habits and lifestyle first. Should you be taking more of oily, fatty & sweet foods, do cut down your intake of such foods, and focus instead on more of green leafy vegetables & fresh fruits on a day to day basis. Include foods rich in protein, in your diet too. Taking a glass of lukewarm water in which a tsp of honey and juice of half a lemon are mixed thoroughly, early morning empty stomach, for about 1 - 2 months shall help reduce not only obesity but also may help reduce lipoma (s). At the same time, do incorporate daily exercises, yoga & walking for at least 30 to 45 minutes irrespective, unless you have any physical constraints that do not allow you so. Relaxing and de-stressing yourself regularly is equally important for your overall health. Hope this helps. So take care and all the very best. Sincerely

You should consider a CT guided biopsy of the mass. It will relieve you of your worries if it's benign and if malignant, further work up can be done to assess for management.

I am 34 years old active smoker. Want to know early symptoms of throat cancer. Any quick test to rule out the same.

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Sore, ulceration which are long standing, lump in neck, bleeding from throat or mouth. Difficulty in swallowing, breathing etc. Throat pain esp radiating to ears. Some premalignant conditions like white patch, leukoplakia, reddish patch, erythroplakia, reduced mouth opening etc need evaluation. A detailed oral and neck examination and laryngoscopy can help you ruling out cancer.

It's a grade 3 tumour with size more than 3 cm. If mastectomy done and no lymph nodes positive patient does not need radiotherapy. However triple negative are aggressive cancers and for these chemotherapy is a must for any tumour greater than 0.5cm in size. You should complete all the prescribed doses of chemotherapy and be on regular follow up. That gives a best chance for cure/control.

Breast Cancer - 4 Common Symptoms

Breast Cancer - 4 Common Symptoms

Breast cancer is a type of a cancerous infection that develops in the skin cells of the breast. This condition is more commonly diagnosed after you have skin cancer and is more common in women than men. There are certain signs to identify this disease, which are as follows.

1. Breast lumps - Lumps are patches of skin that occur due to the thickening and swelling of the skin. Breast lumps is a very common phenomenon for women but that does not always lead to a breast cancer; however, frequent and reoccurring instances of the same increases the risk of breast cancer. A breast lump is easily identifiable through the naked eye as it looks different from the surrounding tissues.

2. Blood discharge - The nipple is one of the most sensitive areas in the human body. In case of women, it is meant to emit milk during pregnancy, in order to feed the infant externally. A probable symptom of breast cancer can also be a frequent discharge of blood from the nipple without any visible damage or injury.

3. Breast changes - If you are experiencing any visible changes in the size, appearance or shape of the breast, then it is an indicative sign that you may have breast cancer. Thus, it is of paramount importance that you observe, touch and physically examine your breast regularly for changes. If there is any major change detected then it is advisable to consult a doctor.

4. Inverted nipple - The tip of the nipple is generally bulging and pointing outwards both in cases of men and women. But sometimes the tip of the nipple is pushed inside due to excessive suction caused by the skin tissues present inside the breast around the nipple area. This suction forces the nipple to grow inwards which is abnormal and might harm the breast and skin in various ways.

However, apart from these main symptoms, some other signs are also there that increase your chances of being diagnosed with breast cancer. They are redness or pitting of the skin over your breast like an orange, peeling or scaling of the pigmented area around the nipple, dimpling of the skin on the breasts, and such others. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

Hi, I am 24 year old male and from past 6 years I have acute acne on my face. Also I get temporary pimple like things on my shoulders and upper back regularly, which sometimes have pus formation or they get red, bulge and disappear in a few days time. Are these age related just like acne? Will they go after sometime? Should I get checked for cancer? And What should I do for these?

Hi, I am 24 year old male and from past 6 years I have acute acne on my face. Also I get temporary pimple like things...
The eruption of pimples, acne, black heads, dark spots, scars, pores and oily face are due to excessive sebum secreted by sebaceous glands and hair follicles especially on the face.. Precautions- * Don't scratch or pinch your pimples. This will cause more damage and scars. . * Avoid fried and oily foods. * Prefer fruits and green vegetables. * When you apply any cream, sun screen and the like, clean your face at the earliest, so that there will be no adverse action of the chemicals on the delicate skin of face. *Your skin ‘breaths’ through its pores which are not to be closed for long. HOMOEOPATHIC medicines are taken internally. Hence, NO DIRECT CONTACT with your delicate and sensitive skin, thereby no problem of skin allergy .Homoeopathy has good treatment without causing adverse effects. The medicines work internally, tackle the root of the problem unlike face cream which is a surface treatment.. Take Antim crd 200—once daily in the morning. For further treatment, consult privately (Prime-Rs.149/). Acne riddance package for one month comprehensive treatment is offered at Rs 500/-

The pain may be due to inflammation of the lymph nodes. In case you are having associated fever, do try to get a ENT check up for possibility of Acute Tonsillitis. If there is obvious swelling in the area you mention consider getting a opinion from a surgeon if biopsy is indicated. Let me know if you need more details.

I have a oral submucos fibrosis so this is confirm that I will 100 present get oral cancer? Or I can prevent it?

MD - Oncology
Oncologist, Coimbatore
First, submucosal fibrosis is not cancer and no, it need not turn into cancer all the time. But you are at a higher risk of getting oral cancer. If you are a smoker or a tobacco chewer, stop that immediately. Seek help if needed. The treatment will depend on how symptomatic it is and how severe it is.

General Physician,
No. Restricting your water intake will not decrease the frequency of urine. Besides restricting water can cause dehydration and will increase the chance side effects because of urimax ( giddiness and falls)

What is the advantage of hormone therapy after the operation and radiation treatment for breast cancer. How many years hormone therapy required? How do check growth of cancer cell in breast after hormone treatment.

MD - Radiation Oncology, MBBS, DNB (Radiotherapy)
Oncologist, Howrah
Hormone therapy has an established role as an adjuvant therapy in receptor positive breast cancer. Tamoxifen can even be given receptor status unknown patients based on positive result on receptor status unknown patients (early breast cancer trialists' collaborative group trial). Previously 5 years of adjuvant hormone therapy is recommened. Recently nccn guidelines recommend for 10 years of treatment based on positive result of continuing hormone therapy up to 10 years.
