Hi, pain and lump in breast can have several reasons fibroadenoma hormonal normal development or rarely cancer. Along with axilla swelling it can be lymph node which can be normal, infection or cancer or if you had a history of tb, then it can be that too. You need to review a general Surgeon for breast and axilla examination.

What are the symptoms of cancer. How this disease are handling the people. Why there is no proper medicine and treatment is there. How the cancer is spread to other.

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Cancer is a disease caused by uncontrolled proliferation of cells of body. It can effect any individual can be caused by carcinogens like tobacco alcohol pollution pesticides radiation etc or lifestyle related like lack of exercise, fatty food, spicy food etc, or may be genetic. Since many factors causing this disease it's difficult to identify the cause hence only the symptoms can be treated routinely unless we know exactly in which individual which gene or signel is faulty. It does not spread from one individual to other but people effected in groups may be exposed to similar risk factors.

Sir I have been detected with colon cancer. 2 growths are seen one in my ascending colon and another at caecum. And it is moderately differentiated carcinoma. What should I do now?

MS - General Surgery
General Surgeon, Jalandhar
You are required to have barium enema/colonoscopy with biopsy to see its location and type of tumor and further contrast ct is needed to its staging. And depending upon staging surgery for resection of tumor is performed. Again as per histopathalogy, chemotherapy and or radiotherapy is planned.

One can experience vague abdominal pain, painless haematuria, difficulty in passing urine, lump in abdomen. Usually they are undiagnosed for long as other kidney takes over the function. Routine ultrasound abdomen will help in catching asymptomatic renal cell carcinoma.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. Have you consulted any medical oncologist, and tried chemotherapy yet? sorafenib, as I know, is one of the best targeted therapies available for advanced renal cancer. Surgery, if attempted, may at best help de-bulk the tumor load. Advise consult oncologist, on the above-mentioned, for further traction. Its difficult to say exactly how long he can survive in the current context, with treatment. However, we can still attempt improving his health related quality of life and overall survival through appropriate alternative medicines that can be given as an adjunct or complementary to the conventional medical treatment. Hope this clarifies. Take care and all the very best.

My mother has a lump in her left chest since one year ,could you suggest what kind of test should be done to know weather it is normal or any other problem. And recently she has undergone a gynaecological surgery for uterus removal just one week before.

DNB (General Surgery), MS - General Surgery
General Surgeon, Sri Ganganagar
You should show your mother to the same gyane or a surgeon to consult for the lump. Clinical examination asking with mamography and pathological examination (fnac) can diagnose upto 99% cases.

I found to have a small ball -like structure in my breast. IS IT A SYMPTOMS OF BREAST CANCER? PLEASE ANSWER as soon as possible.

MBBS, DNB (Surgical Oncology)
Oncologist, Delhi
Any breast lump may be a sign of cancer. But not all breast lumps are cancerous. So you need to show it to a breast surgeon or oncologist to get it evaluated. If it is non cancerous or fibroadenoma then you may safely keep it under observation provided it is small. Other non cancerous tumors like phylloides tumor require removal of the lump.

Hi, I appreciate you seeking help. To be on a safer side, its advisable that you get this clinically examined by a gynaec oncologist right away and not delay any further. Imaging, either through mammography or mri subsequently followed by a biopsy is always the gold standard for accurate diagnosis of breast cancer. I wish you all the very best. Do take care.

I am 60 years having smoking habits since last 35 years. There is no problem right now. Getting checked every year tests are OK. Being smoker, possibility of development of cancer in any part of body. As precautionary measures tests to beconcducted to know any cancerous growth in body.

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Dear smoking is a silent killer. It does not happen overnight but slowly it gets absorbed in lungs and blood and not only damages lung but also other parts leading to cancers of head and neck, lungs, gastrointestinal tract like intestinal, rectal, bladder and kidney and even leukaemia. Annual health screening will help you apart from if you have any specific problem then you can meet doctors earlier also.
