Tips for Managing Acne

Tips for Managing Acne

Acne is a condition where the skin experiences breakouts of clusters of pimples as well as other growths like blackheads and whiteheads. This skin condition affects the face, neck and even shoulders in some severe cases. In many cases, these pimples may be swollen and even filled with pus. The most common causes of acne include hormonal changes.

Read on to know more about the ways in which you can manage acne:

1. Hygiene: It is important to keep the skin clean as clogged pores often lead to breakouts on the skin, like acne. One must wash the face twice a day at least, so as to ensure that micro particles that can escape from pollutants and other dirt and grime get washed away from the surface of the skin, instead of settling into the pores and clogging them. You can use your fingertips in order to gently rub a mild cleanser or face wash into your skin and then rinse with water. Also, steer clear of facial scrubs and other exfoliation elements as this can make the acne even worse, leaving you with permanent scars if you happen to pop a pimple or scrub too hard.

2. Do not Touch: It is important to remember that constant touching and popping of the pimples can lead to scarring as well as infections in the long run. It is imperative to keep the affected area clean as the hands are one of the most used parts of the body that come in contact with all sorts of dust and dirt, which can easily get transferred to the face every time we touch it. This can make the condition even worse and lead to further inflammation of the pimples.

3. Sun Exposure: If you are suffering from acne, you must ensure that you do not remain exposed to the sun for too long, as the harmful ultraviolet rays will make the condition even worse, and can lead to oozing. This can inturn cause infection and other related skin problems. Also, one must avoid tanning beds and booths as the harmful chemicals used to get a temporary tan can end up having a negative effect on the skin and the acne.

4. Products: When you use a product for the condition, ensure that it is approved by your dermatologist first. You must also use a product long enough before you switch to another product, as constantly switching creams and lotions can lead to a flare up of the condition. Also, before you start using a product, test it on a small patch of your skin on the arm or the leg, so that you know whether or not it will suit you.

Hi. I would like to go for a skin lightening treatment mine is wheatish complexion. Which one would be the best procedure. How much will it cost approx. How many sessions should I undertake.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
The only true skin lightening agent is hydroquinone, a skin bleaching agent, which is prescribed by a physician and compounded by a special pharmacy. Small areas can be treated individually, but you cannot apply it to the full body all at once. Additionally some areas will lighten more or less than other areas, but different strengths can be used. The real thing that needs to be discussed here is why you want to do this.

Homoeopathic treatment UNDER EYE CREAM ( BAKSON) Apply at night under the eye in circular fashion GLOWCARE DROPS ( LORDS) 20 drops in 20 ml freh water 3 times daily Take a good Iron rich diet likeApple,Pomegranate,Spinach nd all other green vegetables 2 glass milk daily 6-8 glass extra water daily Try to have a sound sleep HOME REMEDIES Slice up a papaya. Papaya fruit contains the enzyme papain. Papain helps exfoliate the skin, making way for new skin cells to emerge. Papaya also contains Vitamin C and Vitamin E, so it's a dark spot fading superstar. Papain is most concentrated while the papaya is still green, but you can use riper fruit as well. Peel and remove the seeds from a papaya, and try one of the following treatments: 1. Slice a piece off of the papaya, and lay or hold it on the dark spots that you want to get rid of. Hold it there for 20-30 minutes. Repeat twice a day for best results. 2.Make a papaya facial mask. Cut the papaya into chunks, then use a blender or food processor to blend the fruit into a smooth paste. Apply the mask to your face and neck. Leave it on for about 30 minutes, then rinse well.

Dry skin, brittle nails and frizzy hair - add ghee in your diet. 2 teaspoon is all you need.

I am a 24 year old female I have. Circle white spots on my left leg and very little spots on my breast. Is this any diseases or a vitamin deficiency. White spot on my breast is from childhood but on leg I have seen now. As till now I don't have any problem.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
White spot can be fungus and if it is there from childhood it can be pigment disorder and need to check up. This is not vitamin related.

My face is not fair. There is dark spots at my eyes. What should I do for brightening my faceface.

BHMS

Firstly start taking a full nutritious diet. A good diet is a nutritional lifestyle that promotes good health. A good diet must include several food groups because one single group cannot provide everything a human needs for good health. And what ever we are eating that reflects on our body and skin. 1. Homoeopathic medicine for fair skin is berberis aquafolium mother tincture. Take 5 drops of it mix with water, twice a day. 2. Apply this tincture in diluted form on your face with cotton once a day. 3. Wash your face with besan and curd, mix a pinch of turmeric also. 4. Apply bio valley's skin lightening cream. 5. Apply rose water to your face at night. 6. Apply cucumber juice+ lemon juice+ tomato juice on your face. 7. Apply multani mitti pack on the affected areas.

I have dark circle below eyes over some day..what should I do for this to remove. Please reply immediately. Thank you

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi. Dark circles can be temporary (means happens after any recent or chronic diseases or underlying medical condition, allergies, sinus infections and nasal congestions, lower eyelid laxity, fluid retention, hormonal imbalances, hyperpigmentation, aging, sun-exposure, insufficient sleep, worm-infestation, nutritional deificiency, working long hrs. on computer, lack of rest, stress/ tension, etc.) which can be improved by fixing the underlying cause or the problem or can be inherited from your parent's genes which can't be treated or cured! Management: Eat healthy and on time. Avoid junk. Drink plenty of water (as dehydration can cause dull or patchy skin). Sleep well. Wear anti-glare spectacles while working on computer. The area under your eyes has very sensitive skin, so never use chemical bleach. Reduce your stress/ tension through yoga, meditation or any other exercises (it not only improves your blood circulation, but also reduces the production of stress hormones by the body as well as increases happy hormones in the body). Use sunglasses regularly when you are in the sun and not to forget to apply a thick layer of Bakson's Suncare Sunscreen liberally, 20-30 minutes before stepping out in the sun and apply the same again after 3-4 hours if you have exposure to sunlight for long hours. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Cina 1M/ one dose daily at night for 10 days. Schwabe's Alfalafa Tonic/ 1 tsp thrice a day daily for 20 days and revert me back about the condition. Apply Bakson's Under Eye Cream twice daily (in morning and at night) and Medicynth's Whitch Hazel cream and Bakson's Under Eye cream twice - in morning and at night daily. Diet: Vitamins A, C, E and K are essential to healthy skin and most effective when applied topically.

My facial skin is fair enough but at chin skin is complexion. How to get fair skin at chin area?

BHMS
Homeopath,
Hi lybrate-user, the skin colour may get changed by certain environmental factors such as sun burn, pollution etc. You should take enough water, apply a good quality sun screen preferably gel based before stepping out in sun. Rub lemon and cucumber juice on the affected area and take good amount of fresh vegetables and fruits in your diet. There are few homoeopathic medicines which you can take to get the maximum benefit as well as a much cleaner and healthier skin in few days. You can contact me for further support.

How can I get rid of my dark circles please recommend something I am only 21 years old.

MBBS, MD - Dermatology , Venereology & Leprosy
Dermatologist, Amritsar
Dark circles may be genetical, due to increased vascularity around eyes, low eyesight etc. Take a proper sleep, plenty of water; be regular in using your sunscreen. Avoid excessive usage of mobile/laptop. An undereye cream can be given to you by looking at a picture of your condition .Lactic acid peels may be helpful.
