My teeth gums are going low and also teeth are moving a bit, how to strength my gums.

Dentist, Jamshedpur
Hi you need to go for deep scaling and cleaning. Plaque or tarter has deposited deep between the gum and tooth. It causes damage to supporting tissues and bone. Thus tooth get loose and ther can be tooth loss also so get it done fast.

At the age of 23 or 24 for girl the teeth straightening (Braces) is possible? It is effective or the teeth will be straight after completing treatment? How many months needed to complete treatment? What will be cost approximately?

Dentist, Jaipur
Relapse rate will be much higher if you get braces at late age. Most appropriate age would be till 21 years. Should go for other treatment options like as available in esthetic dentistry.

My teeth is little bit front so I thought of putting braces what I bother is will they remove 4 teeth and then they put me the braces?

Dentist, Lucknow
It will depend upon how much space is required to push back the teeth as that will guide the Dr. How many teeth r required to b removed if required at all.

Fruits and vegetables which require continous biting like apples, carrots and corn should be avoided as it can become quite difficult while the braces are on.

Taking of a biopsy should be considered.consult oral and maxillofacial surgeon as soon as possible. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment.

My stomach is getting big day by day. and i also suffer from bad breath. what should i do?

Dentist, Bhavnagar
Reason for bad breath may be due to deposition of tartar and plaque on tooth surface or pus formation in gums. You should go through cleaning of teeth by the dentist and thorough dental check up.

Keeping retainers in hot water, pockets, napkins or on hot car dashboards can cause harm to them.

Hello, you can do warm salt water rinses as a home remedy, but this will give only temporary relief from pain. Visit a dentist and get the treatment done.

My grand father (70 years) have implanted tooth in his mouth which is fixed by 6 screws but now all the dentition and screws is removed because of loose fixing so should we go for cortical implant and is it going to affect the gums or it may get loose as earlier fitting due of loosen gums we want to go for permanent dentition so cortical implant is good or something else please suggest. And he had angioplasty stent in his coronary vessels 2-3 years back.

Please take opinion of a dentist, as a gp, I can suggest to you that dentures will be a better choice compared to implants. Bones get hollow with age, call it osteoporosis & it is part of ageing process, despite good intake of calcium & vit. D & a high proten diet with moderate exercise which are good for heart & also for regeneration of bone cells, well to a minial extent only. We lose hair with age and only lucky few can retain their teeth. Implants are for fairly young people 7 they do become a part of body if fitted even around 40+ but they do get shed when wear and tear of bones including bones of palate start to degenerate. He has had angioplasty also, but that will not affect bone health or dental health, rather due to dietary care, he would be better off about his bone health but I would not suggest implant at 70+, specially when we have good dentures that help the person eat & feel good during the day & needs removal at night.

Soft drinks, cordials and fruit juices should be consumed in a limited quantity because they are acidic in nature. Acidic food or drinks often soften the tooth material which leads to the dissolution of minerals from the tooth enamel, resulting in cavities (holes).

Dentist, Raipur
Dental care for healthy oral hygiene.

Hi, I am 26 year old guy. Is it safe to go through root canal process I have cavity in my tooth.

Dentist, Allahabad
Yes it is safe. If your cavity is too deep and there is pain root canal is necessary. Other wise simple restoration can be done without root canal.

How to make my teeth look white. It looks pale yellow no matter how much I brush. I brush as usual 2 times a day.

Dentist, Panchkula
There is a procedure known as bleaching which will whiten your teeth. First scaling and polishing of the teeth is performed followed by bleaching with lasers. Brushing keeps your teeth clean, free from decay and deposits but every person has his/her own natural colour of teeth so you cannot change your teeth colour by brushing but with bleaching we can.

I have been suffering from teeth problem for someday. When l drank cold water it is very sensitive to one part of my upper teeth. How can l get rid of this problem?

Dentist, Mohali
Most probably you need rct and capping of your tooth. Dentist will do an x-ray and tell whether you need rct or a filling may suffice.

Sir/mam. From last week there is continuous bleeding from my teeth when I brushed. And smell from from mouth. What to do?

Dentist, Kolkata
Bleeding from gums indicates infection. Bad smell comes due to tartar accumulation on teeth, get a cleaning done.

Sensitivity with cold drinks/water/icecream is a signal for dental check up.....

Overuse of anti-sensitivity toothpastes

MDS, Fellow of Academy of General Education (FAGE), BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Overuse of anti-sensitivity toothpastes
Over and unwanted use of anti-sensitivity pastes results in masking of early symptoms of dental problems resulting in progress of disease which require higher levels of treatment, multiple sittings and added cost to patients.

Like our body, our gums also need some exercise to maintain their health.Gently bite down so as to make sure that your teeth make a clinking sound when they meet. Repeat this 30 to 40 times continously. This exercise will stimulate the flow of blood and will keep your gums healthy.
