My daughter 10 days old but she is crying to much in only night time so please what I do give me suggestion. Thank you.
Hello. Congratulations to you. Each baby is different so pls do not compare your kid with any other kid. Crying too much in night is common, in my hometown 4 in 10 would face this. Wen it cries ♡ make sure its tummy s filled if nt feed the baby ♡ switch on the lights n enquire any insects s thr ♡ excessive heat n sweat @ night may b thr tat may cause irritation ♡ the food you took may irritate your baby tummy. So pls be you take some soothening foods at night. ♡ hw many hours does it sleeps. ♡ discuss with your pediatrics abt this in the next visit. But do not worry its common only.

My 7 months old daughter has upset stomach for last 5 days. Her motions are frequent, semi to loose, and have bad smell. Is it because of the things she keeps putting in her mouth (viz toys or anything she finds) or is it more because if the food she eats. I give her variety of foods churned in mixer grinder. And what medications should I give her? Will any home remedies help? Please suggest.

Hello, You can try and give her pomegranate juice, she will feel better. Please make sure to give her only boiled water and sterilise her toys, and vessels before use. Loose, motions can also be due to onset of teething process.

Tonic - try with natural appetite booster named as syp. Aptivate (1 tsf) before major meal. But believe me you have to concentrate on calorie rich foods more rather than medicines as those are actually helpful. Medicines have short actions. Planned food and diet improves weight gain. Of-course timely vaccination is again another indirect help, which promotes better health by avoiding frequent infections. Regards.

Hello, breastmilk is complete food for a neonate for first 6 months and no substitute is required if your beast milk production is adequate.Ensure that you clean your nipples with warm water after every breast feed and the layer of casein from previous feed is removed each time before fresh feed.

My new born baby is facing hiccup so many times in a day, so please tell me its normal course or any other issue, thanks.

DMB
Pediatrician, Chennai
Hi Hiccups are caused by sudden contractions of the diaphragm triggered by irritation or stimulation of that muscle. Some leading pediatricians are of the opinion that infant hiccups are usually caused by feeding (breast, formula or other foods) or by a drop in temperature that causes the baby to get cold. Hiccups are considered harmless unless they prove persistent enough to interfere with regular feeding and sleeping. Babies with gastroesophageal reflux disease (gerd) may tend to hiccup more frequently, accompanied by spitting up, coughing and irritability. Put the baby in upright position on your shoulder and pat on the back.
