I'm 27 week pregnant. Baby's heart beat is 140beats/min. May I know the gender of a baby?
One cannot detect sex of the baby by fetal heart rate. And why do you wanna no sex of baby. Prenatal detection of sex is illegal.

Hi Mr. lybrate-user Meet the Gynaecologist urgently and go for a repeat ultrasound scan. Management of situation will depend on fetal gestational age, maternal condition and other factors. If it is true that the heart of baby is not working, then surgical removal of baby is done by gynaecologist.

What procedure doctors follow to avoid mix ups in Ivf process. Can you please explains the whole procedure. I am thinking of getting a baby in this process.

Mixups is impossible. All dishes, tubes used in ivf are labelled with both husband wife name & one I'd no given to them & double checked at every step. There is no scope for mistake in this.

Dear doctor, I am 24 years old girl single. May be get married by six months. I have a great gud hearted friend in life. I like him a lot, sometimes I feel like he is more than a friend n he feels the same. But we both never shared this feeling to each other. We became friends in facebook 5 years ago. N we met 3 years ago. I never felt any insecurity with him as he is unique n very very good hearted brave and kind person. To be fair I fell in love with him but I never revealed it to him, though I propose him, he can not marry me right now, he has many responsibilities and ambitions in life. So I dont wanna make him in a trouble as he can think about marriage only after 5 yrs. He is 26 now. Now what my problem is. I recently went to a women's expo from there I got lot of information regarding pregnancy and other girls health issues and also about sex life. On that day I came back to home and shared my day with him, and showed him some pics regarding pregnancy taken at the expo. For the first time we chatted about these kind of things and it made him tempted. After that he started a lit bit flirting with me but I managed him. He became so. Open to me chatting these things in these days and I never restricted him as I like it. But still. We are good friends never crossed the limit. He is now far away from me. We chat on WhatsApp only. Recently He was very depressed and I tried to make him normal. While chatting He asked me to have a hot chat. But to maintain the friendship's beauty I refused it. He said that sexting can make both of us feel relaxed as I too have some depressions in life. But still I refused his request. I really do not want to spoil the beauty of a friendship. But on the other side I want to help him. At least for a one time he is asking to have a hit chat just to relax. I am very much confused doctor. Should I go for it? Or should I not? If I do hot chat with him what are the things I should be careful? Sometimes I feel like it is like cheating my future hubby.(but My friend is also a good guy n I dont feel any kind of insecurities with him. Even I too get tempted to have hot chat with him. What should I do doctor?

Hello miss a lot of boys and girls mix around a lot, there is much more freedom in knowing every friendship is not branded as romantic relationship. In addition today's youth have internet and chat media available to them with lots of privacy and freedom. But there is also a lot confusion amongst friendships as to where to draw the line. On the chat media people tend to open up lot more and expose even their weaknesses. All people who chat with you may not have honest and honorable intentions. There are a lot of sex predators who can cheat you and use you by getting you involved in sex crimes. Hot sext chats can be called sex crimes too, because here the other person is using you to get his sexual gratification. Once you discussed some reproductive issues with your friend and he now thinks you may be available for entertaining his sexual needs? just observe this, what does that tell you? he is not interested in committed relationship with you but wants you to engage in such practices, do you think he is really trustworthy? all mobile and internet chats can be recorded and accessed by the server. The person you are chatting with can use them against you and tell other people that you are a girl with loose morale and lack character, furthermore he may use one time incidence to pressurise you into doing similar or more dangerous things with his other friends. Keep all the possibilities in mind and stay away from chat media. If your friend does not appreciate your safety and honour, simply block him, but do protect your self.

I had sex with my girlfriend recently without using condom. How ever I didn't came inside her. What are the chances of her getting pregnant. Even if I assume I came inside her, then how many pills does she need to take to avoid pregnancy and within how many hours?

Dear user. TO CAUSE PREGNANCY on a woman, sperm should be ejaculated inside the vagina or fresh sperm should be inseminated inside the vagina with some means during the fertility period of the woman. There are many determinants of pregnancy. You should be sexually matured. Your partner should be sexually matured. The period of your partner should be in the fertile stage. Her egg and your sperm cells should be healthy enough. Then her uterus should be capable to get conceived. If all these were satisfied, the pregnancy could be a result. Semen do not pass through clothes to make pregnancy. Sex during periods does not cause pregnancy. In the given case, there are less chances of pregnancy. Take care.

Menstrual Cramps - How To Deal With It

MBBS, MD - Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Menstrual Cramps - How To Deal With It

Menstrual cramps or dysmenorrhea is a condition wherein one experiences painful cramps which occur during the menses. Dysmenorrhea is classified into two types –

  1. Primary Dysmenorrhea: These are the most common menstrual cramps which begin 1-2 years after menstrual cycles begin. The pain is felt in the lower part of the abdomen or the back. The cramps usually start before the period begins, and disappear after 2-3 days.
  2. Secondary Dysmenorrhea: This is a type of dysmenorrhea which accompanies any disorder in the reproductive system. Secondary dysmenorrhea tends to last longer than the normal menstrual cramps.

One will experience symptoms of abdominal pain, pain in the hip joints and a bloating sensation in the abdomen. In case of severe cramps, one may suffer from diarrhea and vomiting. Pain in the inner thighs and the lower back are also very common symptoms.

The menstrual cramps are usually caused by contractions that occur in the uterus. During the menstrual cycle, the uterus, which is a pear-shaped organ in the body, tends to contract. Excessive contractions cause the uterus to press against the blood vessels, cutting off the supply of oxygen to the muscle tissues. Pain results when the oxygen supply is cut off from a muscle.

Dealing with Menstrual Cramps:

Here are some steps that you can take to deal with menstrual cramps:

  1. Taking pain relieving medications such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen.
  2. To get relief from lower back pain, one can apply heat on the affected area by using heating pads.
  3. Get enough rest.
  4. Avoid eating foods that are rich in salt and caffeine.
  5. Alcohol consumption and smoking should be restricted.
  6. You can massage the abdomen and the lower back.

In addition to these remedies, exercising helps in relieving menstrual pain. People who exercise experience milder symptoms as compared to those who do not exercise.

When To Go For A Check-Up With Sex Specialist?

When To Go For A Check-Up With Sex Specialist?

Which is the most problematic domain of physical disorders and yet is the least spoken of? Well, the universal answer would be the 'sexual disorders' because there are several individuals being affected by sexual issues and yet, they are unfortunately not being able to open up properly. This lack of expression is not only creating problems for the patients but is also delaying the process of treatment. It is a harsh reality that the treatment of these issues is being hampered just because one is not able to discuss the same. To simplify all these problems related to sexuality in human beings, a sex specialist is an utmost requirement nowadays. This person is responsible for assisting a person infected with a certain sexual issue to recover from the serious situation both psychologically and physiologically as well.

About sex-related disorders in the humans and its subsequent treatment

The basic obstacle that prevents the people from breaking the barriers of the bedroom and explaining the sickness in detail to a sex specialist is the society related stigmas and taboos surrounding sexuality in humans. The Indian society is designed in such a manner that such issues are always hushed up as if speaking about these is some criminal offense. However, this grossly hinders the overall development of knowledge about human sexuality and in turn, leads to several potholes in the future. The males and females are not able to intermingle properly and are unable to mate freely thereby leading to an unhealthy conjugal relationship. This needs to be treated as soon as possible so that the situation does not get out of control and disorders do not take the shape of severe sexually transmitted diseases like AIDS or Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome.

What does a sex specialist do?

The main task of a sex specialist is to counsel the patients at first, get to know about their problems in detail and then proceed to treatment. Human psychology plays a major role here, and above all, it is important to identify the right kind of disorder that is plaguing the patient. The various kinds of issues that are being treated by a sex specialist nowadays are:

  1. Impotence in the males.
  2. Night discharge.
  3. Honeymoon related love making issues.
  4. Penis enlargement problems.
  5. Erectile dysfunction.
  6. Premature ejaculation.
  7. Two-in-one treatment of erectile dysfunction as well as premature ejaculation.
  8. Three-in-one treatment of penis enlargement, erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation in the males.
  9. Hesitant in sexual intercourse treatment.
  10. Libido problems.
  11. Sexually Transmitted Diseases or STDs like syphilis, gonorrhea, AIDS, etc.
  12. Male Sex Enhancement treatment.
  13. Herbal Pain Relief.
  14. Breast enlargement in the case of women.
  15. Weight Loss and Slimming.

Above all, the main aim of a sex specialist is to create absolute awareness about the sexuality in humans and that it is not at all 'bad' to talk about these in detail with the partner and to the doctor in case of any hindrances.

The sex specialist takes care of all these issues in a very compassionate manner and also maintains privacy and confidentiality in these matters so that the troubled souls who come to visit him or her for the treatment of the so-called 'whispering' issues do not feel perturbed. In fact, there are numerous packages available in the market, which come at competitive prices to enable the people to avail these at an affordable cost. All the packages are customized for specific needs of the sexuality-related issues in the humans. This involves a personalized approach because every single problem differs from the other and hence, requires unique care and treatment.Sexology as a subject tends to understand the behaviors, interests and functions of human sexuality. This field is a concoction of different fields such as psychology, medicine, epidemiology, sociology and many others. It offers medications and therapeutic treatments to manage diseases and disorders pertaining to human sexuality.
