Hi Lybrate-user Weight gain causes the fat to produce estrogen, which causes delay in periods. So to rectify the period problem, you need to lose weight. Follow a systematic exercise routine and watch what you eat. No starvation or crash diet, but a balanced, healthy, meal with lots of salads and vegetables. And whatever you follow, be consistent. Weight loss takes time. White discharge in women is normal. Like tears and saliva, vaginal discharge keeps the area moist and lubricated. And the amount and consistency varies during the cycle. If you start taking treatment for it, there is no end to it. If there is no itching, bad odour, or colour change like green or brown, and not looks like curd, do not worry about it and do not take medicines for it.

How to deal with Placental Insufficiency?

MBBS, MD - Obstetrics & Gynaecology , Diploma in General Nutrition
Gynaecologist, Delhi
How to deal with Placental Insufficiency?

It is a well-known fact that the placenta is one of the most important organs related to pregnancy. However, it can also be said that when there is not enough placenta, the stage is set for a lot of complications.

This sort of condition goes by a variety of names. Among them are placental insufficiency, which is most commonly used, placental dysfunction as well as uteroplacental vascular insufficiency, which sounds like a mouthful to pronounce!

The condition refers to the case where the blood supply itself is not large enough. The placenta is the key connection, which exists between the mother and the developing child. By making use of this connection, the mother can transfer nutrients and oxygen to the child for it to develop in a sufficient manner.

Taking this into account, it can be imagined what a ruinous impact the shortage of these nutrients and even basic oxygen can have on the baby. In fact, there is a 1 in 300 chance of there being placental insufficiency for a woman who is expecting a baby.

What causes placental insufficiency?

Complications such as placental insufficiency are caused in a general sense, by some lifestyle bad habits such as smoking and the consumption of drugs. However, it also depends on the health of the mother when she conceives. Some women are already suffering from diseases, such as diabetes and chronic high blood pressure as well as disorders which relate to the clotting of blood when they get pregnant.

What next?

A case of placental insufficiency cannot be cured fully but the good news is that a lot can be done by the way of medication and practices to try to reduce the ill effects it has on the development of a baby. It can be said crucial for this purpose that the condition of placental insufficiency is detected well in advance of the expected date of delivery. When the case is such that there is a serious chance that the baby may be delivered prematurely, it is very important that a doctor is consulted.

The course of medicine, which is likely to be suggested is the administration of steroids by a qualified medical professional to the mother who is expecting a baby. The reason why this is done is so that the steroids can transfer from the mother to the developing child by making use of the placenta and can work to strengthen the lungs of the baby. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a pediatrician and ask a free question.

You can not get pregnant as there was no penetration nor any sperms gone inside the vagina. For getting pregnant sperms has to be deposited inside the vagina. Even though sperms are good swimmers, they die immediately in contact with air. And also they need a medium to swim. So don't worry, sperms can not go to vagina through pant on. Menses can get delayed by hormonal changes also.

Because if I stop taking I am not getting lactation. Please suggest me any others tips or ideas for increasing my supply. I want breast feed my baby. Hi. Tab lactare is safe to use .You could use satavarex powder in milk twice or thrice a day according to your need .both the products are ayurvedic and safe .and could be taken long term till lactation is well established. Mist importantly breast feed your baby day and night .then only your lactation will continue .even without medications.

I am 47 years old. I think I am facing menopause problem. Very scanty bleeding. About 20 days back the spotting extended upto 6-7 days. Is this abnormal?

MBBS, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Gurgaon
No this is absolutely normal as you are in your premenopausal stage, all you need is some uterine toners and dietary supplements to gradually wean you off from menopausal symptoms like hot flushes, cramps in legs, mood swings and irritability, also you should go for a regular pap smear once every three years ,and cervarix vaccines to protect you against cervical cancer. Should you need any further information you may consult us again.
