Hello. There is no medication for improving eye sight or to get rid of glasses. Get your vision tested and wear glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try contact lens or lasik laser.

Hello doctor. My eyes color are red for a couple of weeks. I have pain in my eyes. Please doctor help me. What can I do?
Redness of the eye is one of the most prevalent problems observed. Redness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. It occurs with symptoms of pricking, itching, irritation, watering, foreign body sensation and discomfort. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. Thus, eye hygiene remains the principal modality of treatment along with eye drops as a supplement. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. There may occur associated pain and sensation of itching, pricking, watering and discomfort. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic because it would require immediate removal from the eye and appropriate therapy. (4) raised eye pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the covering layers of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. (6) increased blood pressure. This has known to cause redness which is also known as sub-conjunctival hemorrhage. The redness in this case tends to be deep dark and usually occurs only in one portion of the eye. In this regard, a complete ophthalmic evaluation and a systemic evaluation is warranted. (7) injury/ trauma to the eye in any form may cause redness of the eyes. This should be taken seriously and assessed in detail by an eye specialist in person. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. You could also use a lubricant eye drop along with an anti-histamine eye drop. (3-4 times daily) also, you might require a complete eye evaluation in order to rule out other causes. This would be possible only by examining your eyes in person. Hope my suggestions helped you.

Contact lens requires a lot of care and are expensive stuff. Moreover you must have to be very careful in placing and taking out contact lens from eyes. For those person who are into field jobs or drive 2 wheelers, contact lens are not recommended as dust particles can damage lens thus damaging eyes. But now a days contact lens is a common practise and if you can handle it with care then you can opt for lenses but always wear good quality daily wear disposable contact lenss of a good company like PURE VISION.

I am a 31 year old male. And have spectacles. - 3. 5 on each eye. I am in a dilemma that is it 100% safe to have a lasic surgery done. Is there even a 0. 01% chance that the surgery may not be correct?

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
One is always at some risk. Nothing is 100% ideally. We are always at risk while crossing a road, that doesn' t mean should not cross the road. For that, one can take precaution to avoid that small risk. So there is always some (very small) risk while doing lasik, but for that we always pre operative work-up to see whether one' s eye is eligible and ready for lasik surgery or not. You should not be afraid of lasik as many people go for it and had great response after operation. So you can go for it comfortably

Dear lybrate user, red eyes could be because of many reasons but commonly it is due to allergy or infection. You need to visit eye specialist to differentiate between the two as the treatment is different. Also get your eyes checked for any glass power

Wash frequently with cold water, use lubricating drops. If it doesn't help, then consult an ophthalmologist.

4 Reasons to Opt for Lasik

MS - Ophthalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Faridabad
4 Reasons to Opt for Lasik

LASIK helps patients who are suffering from near-sightedness (Myopia), far sightedness (Hypermetropia) and even astigmatism (cylindrical power in glasses).

This procedure aims at correcting the shape of the cornea, which is the transparent layer that lines the front of the eye. Through this procedure, the cornea is reshaped so that the retina receives a focused light.

This surgical procedure is ideal for people having following conditions, making spectacle use mandatory:

  1. Myopia or nearsightedness - Far off objects appears blurry
  2. Hypermetropia or farsightedness - Close objects appear indistinct
  3. Astigmatism - Overall fuzzy vision

Why LASIK is popular for vision correction?

  1. It helps people to get rid of Glasses and contact lenses, which sometimes are cosmetically unacceptable and in some cases are visually disabling.
  2. Quick results and recovery: This surgery enables you to return to your normal schedule immediately the day after the surgery. You can have clear and improved vision within a day.
  3. Adjustments can be made years later to alter the vision as per growing impairment in the future and advancing years.
  4. Improved vision: A study reveals that 95% of the people who underwent this surgery achieved uncorrected visual acuity of 20/40 and 85% of the people achieved 20/20 vision. This procedure ensures that a patient achieves enhanced vision.
