My she friend is of age 37. She was having headaches from more than a year. With headaches she also felt nausea. We consulted a doctor and he identified it as a migraine, but he also suggested us to to CT-SCAN. So we did that and in report apart from every thing normal, we got "Impression: Mild Senile cerebral Atrophy" I want to know is it related to headaches she was having and what should be the next step and how dangerous it is?

Migraine cannot be cured completely but treatment helps. Avoid triggers. If certain foods or odors seem to have triggered your migraines in the past, avoid them. Reduce your caffeine and alcohol intake and avoid tobacco. In general, establish a daily routine with regular sleep patterns and regular meals. In addition, try to control stress. Exercise regularly. Regular aerobic exercise reduces tension and can help prevent migraines. If your doctor agrees, choose any aerobic exercise you enjoy, including walking, swimming and cycling. Warm up slowly, however, because sudden, intense exercise can cause headaches. Obesity is also thought to be a factor in migraine headaches, and regular exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight or lose weight.

It seems you are suffering from a depressive disorder. Solopose or escitalopram is an antidepressant and chills and shivering are two of its less common side effects. I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible and change the drug. Take care.

My son agniv nandi is autism child. He is 9 years old. He could not speak according his level and he is hiper active. He can write and recognize things. What medicine is good for my child?

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Hyderabad
There is no medicine for autism. If you want some medicine for hyperactivity you can consult a psychiatrist. But to start of with if you cut down on sugars and simple carbohydrates and shift to protein and complex carbohydrates his hyper activity will come down. Behavior therapy helps such children.

I am having severe migraine since childhood but it occur only once in a month. How can I prevent it from happening again and again?

B H M S, MD
Homeopath, Thrissur
Migraine is vascular headache which occurs due to spasm of blood vessels of head and brain. Medicines are now available to give relief but will not prevent or cure migraine. Homoeopathy has much more drugs and the suitable drug will eradicate the migraine completely and the suitability of a drug has to be ascertained by studying the genetic make up of a person.

You can manage to some extent with medication. I recommend that you also combine counseling with the medication and get maximum benefits. Your condition is a fear-based situation and therefore many aspects of fear needs to be taught to you and ways o expressing them also. When you get frustrated with the fear, you will tend to act angry, which is a cover up feeling. People will mistakenly respond to the anger, when fear is the genuine feeling. You will learn all about this in therapy and that will help you with a lot of skills and techniques to cope with life with these vacillating moods.
