Hi, I have low back pain from past 1 year (not pain, somewhat uneasiness). There is tingling, numbness and burning sensation in the feet near edge of fingers, more in right leg, less in left leg. Sciatica pain also there. MRI report shows slight bulge in L4 & L5 disc. I have taken physiotherapy but it has not helped me. English & ayurveda medicine has not given any result. English Doctors say nothing big to worry. Gabapentin & Vitamin d3 medicine also not helping. But I feel somewhat uncomfortable with this pain. Kindly suggest what can be done on this regard.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user, as per your description of symptoms and your MRI outcome, it is obviously 100% confirmed that there is a nerve compression at your L4-L5 level, and you are getting pain and discomfort in the area supplied by that nerve root. Alright, now let me be very clear that in such type of cases no medicine will show good results, as logically, no medicine can pish that bulged disc back to its original position, it can only reduce some pain for as far as it is in blood circulation. Now, as you have mentioned that you have taken physiotherapy sessions as well, but here it is necessary to know what modalities were used, and what the protocol was. Anyways, what I suggest and I usually do to my patients with such a condition is, Intermittent lumbar traction, followed by most important thing i.e. "Manual mobilization of spine" Here I would like to mention that very few physiotherapists use this technique. But trust me it works in almost all such cases. Followed by TENS (nerve stimulation). Along with this, some back extension exercises (Mckenzie technique) helps a lot. With this protocol, I have found great results in 10-11 sessions as it treats the cause. So, my opinion is to find a physio who does spinal mobilization along with the mentioned modalities, and you should be fine within 10 days. Hope you get well soon. Take care.

It's called morning stiffness. It may be because of bad bed or may be because of some spondylitis associated with morning stiffness. Change your bed. Start exercises and some medicines. You will be better. If significant difference is not seen, you will need some blood tests.

Cramps means difficiency of electrolytes. Have proper salt intake. Drink plenty of water. Go for hot fomentaion of your limbs take balanced diet. Add milk. Green veg. You can also take ors and if pain is excessive take tab tromanil -mr (twice a day) when required for instant relief.

Body joints makes noise because some of your cartilage wears away as part of the normal aging process, Then these surfaces get a little rougher and so you get more noise as they rub against each other. And joint sounds can come and go, depending on how you position your body when you sit and sleep, and how you use your body when you move, One way to avoid creaking joints is to move as much as you can during the day the more your body lubricates itself, the sound will decrease. If it is associated with pain or swelling then its a point of concern. Otherwise its normal.

The implants (plates, screws etc.) should be removed when the fracture is healed beyond doubt. Damaged implant is an other indication for removal. Average time for wound healing after implant removal is 7-10 days.

5 Symptoms Of Muscle Pain And Its Treatment!

Muscle strain or muscle pull is a condition, which is characterized by damage to the muscles or its adjoining tendons. Undue pressure can be exerted on the muscle when you are carrying out routine activities such as sudden lifting of heavy things or playing contact sports. The damage to the muscle is usually in the form of partial or complete tearing of the tendons and fibres attached to the muscles. The small blood vessels in the muscles can also be damaged by the tearing of the muscles, leading to local bleeding and bruising.

The rupture of the achilles tendon above the heel is one of the most common  muscle / tendon to be ruptured and is often felt as though someone kicked your achilles tendon ( just above the heel on the back ) and a pop sound is often heard along with it. The treatment can be either surgical repair or non-surgical treatment.

The symptoms of muscle pain are:
1. You will experience pain even while resting
2. There will be bruising, swelling and redness around the affected area
3. You will experience weakness of the muscles and tendons
4. The movement and mobility of the muscle will be impaired
5. You will experience pain when you use the affected muscles

The causes of a muscle strain are:
1. Playing contact sports can lead to injuries
2. Lifting heavy things
3. Exercising without a proper warm up routine
4. Lifting extremely heavy weights during exercise without proper acclimatization
5. Sleeping on one side only for a long period of time
6. Not stretching properly
7. Falling from a height

The treatments for muscle strains are:
1. Pain medications: You can opt for pain relieving medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications to help combat the associated pain of a muscle strain.
2. Rice: Rice stands for rest, ice, compression and elevation. This treatment is usually the first step after suffering a strain, before opting for medications. This treatment prevents further aggravation of the problem.
3. Compress: You can alternate between hot and cold compress to reduce the swelling and pain.
4. Stretches: Once the affected area has healed, it is important for you stretch the muscles to improve their mobility and strength. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

I have multiple bone related problems. Lot of pain at different places because of spondilytis, knee pain (ligament tear) in both legs. Recently my ankle is swollen for more than 1. 5, months. Stiffness remains in whole body including palm, back, legs, shoulder. Heels also pain.Please do help.

Hi if you have localized back pain with - no neurological symptoms like numbness, paresthesia, weakness in limbs etc, my advice is: - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a physiotherapist and then at home. - avoid forward bending, lifting heavy weights etc - take an analgesic like diclofenac or something which suits your body for 5-7 days - take muscle relaxant for same time as analgesic to relieve muscle spasm - ice packs at the site of pain, muscle spasm - local analgesic spray can be used but no massage is required let me know in a week time how you are feeling. I will actually ask you to get x ray of involved region of spine (ap & lateral) and send reports across to me so that I can advise further in a better manner. Hello Lybrate user according to Ayurveda Vata vikriti is the main factor for pain. Treatment- 1-apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part and give hot water fomentation. 2-take yograj guggul and agni tundi vati after lunch and dinner with warm water. 3-Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. 4-Take pranacharya vatari capsule and syrup twice a day. Diet- Avoid fermented food. Junk food. Potato rice. Sleep well.

First of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket. And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back. You may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * surya namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal, b complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

Change your brothers daily food. Add calcium vitamines minirales end proteins vegitabales salad dry fruites etc. Give him R COMPOUND TABLET 2 in morning with breakfast 2 after lunch end w after dinner for 1 month than reduce 2 tablet after lunch end 2 after dinner. For 3 month. use knee caps. Massege MIISTOL OIL on knees. Reduce weight will also help to reduce pain. For management of fibromyalgia a group of drugs called Tricyclic Antidepressants work best. Since Tramadol is not effective in your case, a drug switch is required. Also non pharmacological treatment like exercise, acupuncture, cognitive behaviour therapy can help in addition with medicines. Consult with pain specialist in your city.

Dear Lybrateuser, - Your pain in the last vertebrae could be due to trauma & inflammation of the bone - avoid sitting for too long, sit with a cushion or pillow to avoid contact with hard surface which can worsen the condition - apply pain relief gel three times a day - if pain is more take a pain relief tablet after meals - do exercises for lower spine - if there is not much relief then get checkup done as pain relief injection may be required.
