I have -3.5 cylindrical power in my right eye along with -5.0 spherical, in left -1.25 cyl and -3.5 sph, I want to use contact lenses, is it advisable to use them without cylindrical power?

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), Cornea Fellowship, FICO, DOMS, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Hyderabad
You will not be comfortable if you don't correct the cylinder power in your contact lens since your number is so high. Better to use special contact lenses called toric or rgp lenses.

What does the term" cataract mature mean. Pl explain. How long can one wait to get the cataract operated?(i've been diagnised with cataract 2 months ago? Please Advise.

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), Cornea Fellowship, FICO, DOMS, MBBS

One can wait as long as a few years depending on the stage of the cataract and vision of the patient. Best way is to ask your doctors advise. Dr. Rishi swarup
